Gentleman Shot Dead After Attempted Home Invasion In Taunton, MA

[From article]
Police are investigating a shooting that left one dead in Taunton Monday evening after an attempted home invasion, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at a Hart Street apartment around 8:30 p.m. and found Nicholas Hoard, the 24-year-old who lives in the apartment, waiting for them on the balcony. Inside, police found Dominique Scott, a 23-year-old Taunton man, dead from an apparent shooting, authorities said.
After a preliminary investigation, authorities believe that two masked and armed men forced their way into Hoard’s apartment. One held him at gunpoint, while the second began searching the apartment, according to the D.A.’s office. With the second man out of sight, Hoard was able to disarm the first suspect, who had put him in a headlock, authorities said.
When the second man heard the fighting, he came back into the room and drew his firearm, according to the D.A.’s office. Hoard then allegedly shot that man, who was later identified as Scott, while the other suspect fled, authorities said.
