Why Don't Horses Have Good Lawyers?

[From article]
"Saudi King Abdullah is reported to have suggested during a March 19 meeting with U.S. counterterrorism advisor John Brennan that surgically implanted chips could help monitor released Guantanamo detainees.

“ ‘I’ve just thought of something,’ the King added, and proposed implanting detainees with an electronic chip containing information about them and allowing their movements to be tracked with Bluetooth,” the cable states.

“ ‘This was done with horses and falcons,’ the King said,” according to the released document.

To which, Brennan reportedly replied, “horses don’t have good lawyers.”

Private Prison Abuses Exposed

Corrections Director fails to recognize that prison guards universally tend to abuse their power over prisoners. Psychological experiments by Philip Zimbardo at Stanford University

Idaho Department of Correction Director Brent Reinke said "The Board of Correction acknowledges that when you put a group of people who have a history of criminal behavior together in one place, it is likely you will have problems. But that doesn't mean we should tolerate them," Reinke wrote.

All-American Kid In Jail

Because he is an "All-American regular kid," is why he is in jail. All-American kids are not politically correct. If he was a minority (or at least a woman) there would be demonstrations to have him released.

"This is the most normal, everyday, All-American regular kid, and for this to happen to him is a disgrace," Larry Aitken said. "It's a disgrace of society."

Sheriff, Like Rangel, Stayed Too Long

One more official who stayed too long in office and became part of the problem; like Charles Rangel a reformer who became a symptom of what is wrong with government in the USA. Being Sheriff in Middlesex is a challenge itself. The county was dissolved due to corruption. Led by the Mendacious Republic of Cambridge and Harvard University the area lacks officials with rectitude. The few honest officials are a weak silent minority. Corrupt US officials in MA are led by the Boston FBI -- run by organized crime. There is little hope for any changes in this state.

Columbia Psychiatrist Promotes Memory Loss

Memory loss occurs with meditation? Sounds like psychiatry is promoting memory loss. Will the product of college degrees be erased? What a wonderful way to make college a complete waste of time. Can't get a job with memory. This device will make it impossible. Good marketing can sell anything. Coke or Pepsi? H.L. Mencken reminded us that no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people. If this device sells it will prove Mencken right again.

[From article]
"But it has major side effects—memory loss, for instance
[. . .]
An enthusiastic convert to the device, Dr. Richard Brown, a psychiatrist at Columbia University, characterizes the effect on brain waves as being similar to that of meditation."

Politicians Prefer Clueless Voters

But, but, but ... If people know, how can the duly elected legal political leadership educate the voters on what needs to be done? I mean, like, you know, if voters know stuff who needs leaders to think for them? They might vote based on what they know instead of what they don't know. Then how can we get re-elected? This is a seriously dangerous matter that must end now. No more information for people who want to know.

Ignored Vulnerable Citizens Denied Access to Courts

After 20 years of the ADA, and 37 years of the Rehabilitation Act (applies to US Taxpayer funded entities, e.g., state courts) a woman is denied access (a First Amendment Right) to the courts in the one-party liberal state of MA. Nothing new here. Court rules, rules of evidence, lawyers and judges accept the exclusion of persons with disabilities every day, while earning money denying persons with disabilities their rights. The Disability Law Center comments. For how many years has that non profit accepted taxpayer funding while ignoring this institutionalized abomination? Millions of taxpayer dollars are given each year to lawyers who fail to fight these barriers? Why is the attorney for the Mass Office on Disabilities silent? Why is the MA AG's Disabilty Rights Division silent? Why do local Disability offices (e.g., Boston, Cambridge) and the MCAD allow this unlawful abuse?

Obama Ignores Terrorism Aggression in Lebanon

"A lone Lebanese hero cop, Wissam Eid, pieced together compelling evidence against top Hezbollah operatives who were contracted by Syria to assassinate former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005. This is what happens when the United States does nothing.

TSA Spreads Germs

My concern is picking up germs from the dirty floors after being forced to remove shoes.

[From article]
"There is no doubt that bacteria (staph, strep, v.cholerae etc.) and viruses (noro, enteroviruses, herpes, hepatitis A and papilloma viruses) can be spread by contaminated vinyl or latex gloves," Dr. Thomas Warner of Wisconsin told WND in a letter to the editor.
[. . .]
"TSA agents are not trained as medical personnel. Just as they don't seem to grasp the Bill of Rights, they also may not understand how infectious disease is spread. They aren't medical personnel; they're Big Brother enforcers who have likely never been taught the principles of how to conduct a sterile body search," the commentary said.
[. . .]
On a TSA blog promoting the agency's actions and policies, one screener explained, "Changing gloves is fairly simple ... . When I gate screen I carry about 10-12 pairs in my pockets."

Respondents to the comment were outraged, "That's just plain disgusting and most certainly not acceptable ... procedures as set forth by the CDC for usage of gloves for protection," said one. "Reasoning being is that the bacteria count in your pockets is about the same is your mouth or armpit."

Wrote another forum participant, "Those gloves are soiled if they come out of your pockets and before handling my stuff you will be expected to obtain a clean, from the original container, pair. ... Who knows what filth inhabits your pockets!"

Candidates Spin Facts

Soothsayers Emily Rooney and Chris Matthews see the world through liberal filters. Whatever they say can be relied upon as spin repeating the Democratic Party line. That is not to say that conservative politicians and corporate leaders do not spin facts as well and as often. Government and private entities intentionally mislead and deceive ordinary citizens. That prevents solving problems. Rooney and Matthews are part of the problem not the solution. They are too close to politicians to be able to speak truth; two of many journalists who mislead voters and taxpayers. Solving problems is a business. Not solving them makes the search last forever. MA legislature has an ethics committee which only takes complaints from members. In the film Charlie Wilson's War, Wilson was appointed to the Ethics Committee of the US House. It does explain why so many appearances of ethical violations remain unaddressed.

Israel is a country surrounded on all sides by enemies, but the people's headaches are caused by the neighbors upstairs.

Israel is the only country in the world where the coffee is already so good that Starbucks went bankrupt trying to break into the local market.

Israel is one of the few places in the world where the sun sets into the Mediterranean Sea

Israel is the only country in the world that has a National Book Week, during which almost everyone attends a book fair and buys books.

Israel is a country where the same drivers who cuss you and flip you the bird will immediately pull over and offer you all forms of help if you look like you need it.

Israel is the only country in the world with bus drivers and taxi drivers who read Spinoza and Maimonides.

Israel is the only country in the world where no one cares what rules say when an important goal can be achieved by bending them.

Israel is the only country in the world where reservists are bossed around and commanded by officers, male and female, younger than their own children.

Israel is the only country in the world where "small talk" consists of loud, angry debate over politics and religion.

Israel is the only country in the world where the ultra-Orthodox Jews beat up the police and not the other way around.

Israel is the only country in the world where inviting someone "out for a drink" means drinking cola, coffee or tea..

Israel is the only country in the world where bank robbers kiss the mezuzah as they leave with their loot..

Israel is one of the few countries in the world that truly likes and admires the United States.

Israel is the only country in the world that introduces applications of high-tech gadgets and devices, such as printers in banks that print out your statement on demand, years ahead of the United States and decades ahead of Europe .

Israel is the only country in the world where everyone on a flight gets to know one another before the plane lands. In many cases, they also get to know the pilot and all about his health or marital problems.

Israel is the only country in the world where no one has a foreign accent because everyone has a foreign accent.

Israel is the only country in the world where people cuss using dirty words in Russian or Arabic because Hebrew has never developed them.

Israel is the only country in the world where patients visiting physicians end up giving the doctor advice.

Israel is the only country in the world where everyone strikes up conversations while waiting in lines.

Gangs of New York

Gangs of New York, a film directed by Martin Scorsese.
This fictional history of New York City in the 19th Century shows a taste of the violence which preceeded the current politically correct period in history. Cameron Diaz provides a dazzling performance as a pick-pocket and woman of the Five Points. Boss Tweed appears as a rational man compared to the gangs that ruled the City then. Too much detailed blood and gore.

MA Probation Department Scandal

Brownsberger says, "Jack O'Brien was leading a new community corrections programs and I perceived that he genuinely felt that he had an important mission."

This is a pattern in government where men like Charles Rangel who started his career as a reformer of abuses by his predecessor Adam Clayton Powell Jr., became a symptom of what is wrong with the US House of Representatives.

Obama pleaded for hope and change appealing to the best of humans, but abused the trust of his supporters to mislead them and to create boondoggles which may destroy the US system of government. How can anyone tell who is a fraud and who is a decent human with integrity? That does not ensure that any person will have common sense which is just as important. But even if they are sincere what stops them from changing for "the greater good." "It is why I need more power to do more good," and then they become the problem not the solution. If you pay attention to the content and how these officials speak you can see them lying, but not everyone takes to time to scrutinize them.

Brownsberger says, "The question of how we set appropriate boundaries for legislative contacts with agencies deserves sustained attention."

That is why Cambridge MA has the Plan E form of Government, to address such abuses. Councilors are prohibited from communicating directly with city officials except for informational purposes by statute. They must go through the City Manager. They do not always respect that barrier but even when they do it does not prevent abuses. The City Manager and the councilors do favors for each other. That is how legislatures work, isn't it? Laws are passed as favors between members. "I'll vote for your bill if you vote for mine?"

When will journalists, who have serious credibility issues themselves, begin to direct attention toward integrity and toward common sense of candidates? Many Harvard and MIT affiliates have superior intelligence and knowledge. But they lack common sense. Isn't this a problem with the current US White House and TSA? You can't legislate integrity or common sense.

Too much theft and fraud after disasters when people of good will send their money. Why is it so difficult to find people who will not steal money meant for innocent victims of nature? When will a way be found to give political power to persons with integrity instead of to evil minded men who speak in high minded rhetoric? Contemporary journalists fail to identify the crooks before they get elected. Journalists are as elitist and corrupt as the political leaders.

Harvard Campus Cops Violent Toward Elders

“to any individuals engaging in violent activity in our community,” Davis said. “We will continue our ceaseless efforts to hold violent perpetrators accountable.” Sounds great. Will this effort be applied equally to police employees who harass persons with disabilities? Will it apply to Harvard University's depraved special campus cops who abuse their power, torment and insult persons with disabilities and elder citizens?

Reread my comment. "Davis said, We will continue our ceaseless efforts to hold violent perpetrators accountable." I asked if that applies to special Harvard cops, "violent perpetrators," who as Deputies Sheriff are empowered to make traffic stops when traveling between Cambridge and Boston campuses. As special state police they are empowered to make arrests of state law violations (not city ordinances) on Harvard property. Working with local police Harvard campus cops extend their jurisdiction contrary to law. When they are in Boston, Commissioner Davis' announced policy on "violent perpetrators" should apply to violent Harvard campus cop perpetrators. Are Harvard campus cops not like the rest? Do they never abuse their power with the cooperation of city and state police? Lawlessness of special state police officers in the commonwealth needs scrutiny from real police officers. Unlikely in this state.

7. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.

8. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

9. Wal-Mart has approximately 3,900 stores in the USAof which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

Crminal Justice System Abuses Persons with Disabilities

The legal system continues to use psychiatry as a mitigation of criminal liability. That suggests that mental illness is a cause of crime. If that is the case why not lock up all persons accused of mental illness, which is created by consensus? The same lawyers say that his medications were changed shortly before the crime. He also suggests that medication is the cause of crime. The drug industry fears this because it raises questions of the dangerousness of psychiatric drugs. Nonetheless the criminal justice system continues to be exploited by lawyers who demonize persons accused of mental illness and denies to them access to the courts contrary to law.

Harvard Professors Above the Law

New York Police issued a summons to a woman walking her dogs alleging they did not have proper vaccinations. But they did. When she asked at the police precinct to have the case dismissed she was told she had to go to court. Sarah Palin's New Book

[From article]

"The second reason the charge of racism is leveled at patriotic Americans so often is that the people making the charge actually believe it. They think America—at least America as it currently exists—is a fundamentally unjust and unequal country. Barack Obama seems to believe this, too. Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn't surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church listening to his rants against America and white people."

It's important to note that in the 2008 campaign, John McCain forbade anyone on his campaign from mentioning Wright because he feared he would be called a racist."

Muslim Union Strike Threatened

Al Qa'eeda to go on strike

Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day
strike next Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled
to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so far failed to
produce an agreement.

The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the
number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by
25% this April from 72 to only 60. The rationale for the cut was the increase
in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of
virgins in the afterlife.

The suicide bombers' union, the British Organization of
Occupational Martyrs (orB.O.O.M.) responded with a statement that this was unacceptable
to its members and immediately balloted for strike action. General Secretary
Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to
death in the cause of Jihad. We don't ask for much in return but to be treated like
this is like a kick in the teeth".

Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands in which
he currently resides, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained, "We
sympathize with our workers' concerns but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position
to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-
day Jihad in a competitive marketplace. Thanks to Western depravity, there is
now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife. It's a straight choice
between reducing expenditure and laying people off. I don't like cutting wages
but I'd hate to have to tell 3000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow
themselves up."

Spokespersons for the union in Newcastle , Middlesbrough, Essex
and Australia stated that they would be unaffected as there are no virgins in
these areas anyway.

Apparently the drop in the number of suicide bombings has been
largely put down to the emergence of the Scottish singing star, Susan Boyle. Now
that Muslims know what a virgin looks like, they are not so keen on going to
paradise.

For Travelers

Invasive, Denies Constitutional Rights

The Department of Homeland Security is misusing its power. Travel abuses have continued to escalate in the past year. In America, we now have:

  • A terrorist watch list with over one million names on it, growing by twenty thousand names per month. American citizens kept in exile in foreign countries barred from flying back to the US.
  • Security agents that seize laptops, cell phones, and PDAs as Americans enter the United States, with no suspicion of wrongdoing.
  • Invasive airport scanners that let agents conduct virtual strip searches of passengers.

Traveling shouldn't mean checking your rights when you're checking your luggage. Stand with the ACLU and oppose government travel abuses

Mass Crime Statistics

This essay is all about statistics of which Mark Twain said, "There are lies, damn lies and then there are statistics." One fact the author failed to note is that Massachusetts has a high percentage of temporary residents, students, faculty and researchers like himself. One consequence is that there are fewer permanent residents who have an interest in keeping the neighborhood in which he or she lives safe. Jane Jacobs noted what it takes to make a neighborhood safe; the vigilance of people who live, work and pass through the neighborhood. Campus crimes are notoriously underreported. How does that affect the statistics?

Judges Lament Nepotism

“The problem arises when officials base their hiring decisions on personal connections rather than on qualifications of candidates,” the justices wrote. Hello, Mr. Justices? Have you looked at the clerks offices throughout the state? Everyone knows someone who is his or her cousin -- a national pattern in all clerks' offices in state and US courts. Tell your uncle I said hello.

Virus Alert

Infectious email messages have been circulating and spreading a virus called, "VBMania." If you receive any emails with "Here you have" or "Just for you" in the subject line, please delete these emails immediately. Dont open them or click on any links or attachments. You should watch out for these malicious emails both on your DOT computers and on your home computer.

A link to a malicious Web site associated with the virus appears to be inactive, but infected hosts may continue to spread the virus via other means. The files attached to the e-mails are dangerous because they appear to be a PDF or Windows Media (WMV) files but are actually disguised files known as Trojans. After clicking them, the user is prompted to download or execute the virus. When it is run, the virus installs itself on your computer. Once your computer is infected, the virus attempts to send out the same email message to the addresses in your address book. It can also spread through accessible remote machines, mapped drives, and removable media such as thumb drives.

While this specific threat is current and has been reported on Government computer systems, you should always be on the alert for malicious emails. When you receive emails, check to make sure you know the sender before you open it. If you dont recognize the person in the "from" line of an email, or it seems suspicious for other reasons, delete it. Also, while DOT strives to keep its anti-virus and anti-malware software up-to-date, please make sure your home computers are also protected and have current anti-virus and other security software.

Scanners a Business Scam

[From article]
"The body scanners coming to your local airport provide marginal benefits -- if any -- in detecting weapons and explosives hidden on travelers. They aren't worth the cost in money -- let alone in civil liberties.
[. . .]
An army of executives for scanner-producing corporations -- mostly former high-ranking Homeland Security officials -- successfully lobbied Congress into spending $300 million in stimulus money to buy the scanners. But running them will cost another $340 million each year. Operating them means 5,000 added TSA personnel, growing the screener workforce by 10 percent. This, when the federal debt commission is saying that we must cut federal employment rolls, including some FBI agents, just to keep spending sustainable.

Why cut funding for the people who actually catch terrorists to add more pointless hassles at the airport? (Going through a body scanner also takes longer -- the process is slower than magnetometers.)"

Rangel Symptom of Bad Government

[From article]
"What justice we have in this one is too often corrupted by a double standard, one for the public and one for our government masters.
[. . .]
That's the overarching lesson of the Charlie Rangel moment. His unruffled arrogance, his air of entitlement, his lack of remorse personify everything wrong with Washington in particular and government in general.
[. . .]
There are thousands of Charlie Rangels in Washington and Albany and in state capitals and city halls across America who believe they are above the law. They have convinced themselves they are public rulers, not public servants."

Saudi Arabia Joins UN Rights Council

[From Editorial]
In Saudia Arabia
" Every rape victim is considered guilty by the religious police “and is punished along with her attacker.” So a 23-year-old woman who was gang-raped in 2009 was sentenced to a year in prison and 100 lashes for “adultery.”

Women can’t be alone with men outside their families. So a 75-year-old got four months in prison, plus 40 lashes, when two men visited her house to deliver bread.

Women can’t practice law or become judges. And in court “the testimony of one man equals that of two women.”

Women may not drive and are only granted IDs or passports with a male guardian’s consent. And they must have the guardian’s permission to travel abroad, study or go to a hospital.

Fathers can force girls of 10 into marriage, says the country’s grand mufti: “Good upbringing makes a girl ready to perform all marital duties at that age.”

White House Thwarts Science

"Almost from the moment the report was first made public, most of the scientists involved said it had been deceitfully edited to make it look like they'd endorsed the ban, which Gulf-state elected officials immediately denounced as a job-killer.

Now the Interior Department's inspector general, Mary Kendall, has determined that those allegations are correct -- and that the White House falsely applied a scientific veneer to justify what was clearly a political decision."

Proud Friends

Four friends, who hadn't seen each other in 30 years, reunited at a party

After several drinks, one of the men had to use the rest room.

Those who remained talked about their kids.

The first guy said, 'My son is my pride and joy.He started working at a successful company at the bottom of the barrel.
He studied Economics and Business Administration and soon began to climb the corporate ladder and now he's the president of the company. He became so rich that he gave his best friend a top of the line Mercedes for his birthday.'

The second guy said, 'Darn, that's terrific! My son is also my pride and joy. He started working for a big airline, then went to flight school to become a pilot. Eventually he became a partner in the company, where he owns the majority of its assets He's so rich that he gave his best friend a brand new jet for his birthday.'

The third man said: 'Well, that's terrific! My son studied in the best universities and became an engineer. Then he started his own construction company and is now a multimillionaire.. He also gave away something very nice and expensive to his best friend for his birthday: A 30,000 square foot mansion.'

The three friends congratulated each other just as the fourth returned from the restroom and asked: 'What are all the congratulations
for?'

One of the three said: 'We were talking about the pride we feel for the successes of our sons. ..What about your son?'

The fourth man replied: 'My son is gay and makes a living dancing as a stripper at a nightclub.'

The three friends said: 'What a shame... what a disappointment.'

The fourth man replied: 'No, I'm not ashamed. He's my son and I love him.
And he hasn't done too bad either. His birthday was two weeks ago, and he received a beautiful 30,000 square foot mansion, a brand new jet and a top of the line Mercedes from his three boyfriends.'

Same Sex Marriage by Courts

[From article]
"Those who believe in gay marriage are free to vote for it. But, when they lose that vote, it is not the role of judges to nullify the vote and legislate from the bench. Judges who become politicians in robes often lie like politicians as well, claiming that they are just applying the Constitution, when they are in fact exercising powers that the Constitution never gave them.

Mass Incarceration

In this essay Heroux says, "Predicting behavior is about probability not absolutes." Nonetheless the MA legislature codified the rule that sex offenders will repeat based on probability. Moreover psychiatrists are allowed to testify in court predicting future behavior, "dangerousness," of persons accused of mental illness. They use personal opinion as if it were science.

Heroux says, "the best crime prevention begins at home." But often the home breeds crime. One indicator of future criminal behavior is not having a father in the home, two parents. Yet MA public policy encourages single-parent homes.

Equating crime to illness was public policy Germany under the National Socialists. Social problems were medicalized. There is no appeal from a medical diagnosis. Jews were designated vermin which needed to be eliminated.

Heroux mentions some causes of illness, but the main issue in the USA is that the medical industry treats illnesses. It does not promote prevention. That is because the medical industry is run by the drug industry.

Heroux says, "Thinking that you can just keep them in the hospital where they won’t get sick or get others sick." That fails to recognize that 90,000 (some say 100,000) persons die each year from medical negligence. Some protocols are as simple as washing hands between patients and cleaning equipment.

Heroux says, "the percentage of female inmates with mental illness in the Massachusetts DOC is around 65-70%. This isn’t a perfect analogy but you get the idea." I do not get the idea. Does Heroux suggest that mental illness causes crime? Many professionals, even psychiatrists e.g., E. Fuller Torrey believe that. He promotes forced drugging as a result. Courts, run by and for lawyers share that view. Has Heroux ever scrutinized psychiatry which is personal opinion masquerading as science? Merging the criminal justice system with psychiatry is irrational. How can treatment be punishment? Why are police powers used to enforce psychiatric diagnoses?

Heroux's discussion of politicians and criminal justice is simplistic. Spineless politicians accept money from corrections officers unions and pass laws for their benefit, not to address abuses of the system. In CA that union was the largest contributor to a campaign for governor a few years ago. The drug industry and the psychiatric industry does the same and have created a legal system which abuses humans and does not cure illnesses, but instead creates more problems.

Heroux's conclusion is focused in the right direction but fails to recognize that the criminal justice system is corrupt. Is Heroux aware that the FBI in Boston framed four white men for murder in the state courts. The same FBI field office permitted fugitive James Bulger (indicted for 19 homicides), to run freely in MA. There is no scrutiny of the many police agencies, nor the prosecutors in this state. Finally there are lawyers who take taxpayer money to defend persons accused of crime, and then take money to not put on any defense. For persons accused of mental illness lawyers work with psychiatrists instead of protecting the rights of their clients. Making matters worse many professionals in the criminal justice system believe that a person loses his or her constitutional rights when accused of mental illness.
