Freed Lockerbie Bomber Alive and Well

[From article]

"Freed from his life sentence, the Lockerbie bomber was sent home by the Scots on compassionate grounds because he had 'just three months' to live.

But six months later, Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi is still living - and doing it in the lap of luxury.[. . .]

Earlier this month it emerged that Libya was on the brink of agreeing £5billion in investment in Britain.

Critics believe Downing Street colluded with the Scots to pave the way by having Megrahi freed.

[. . .]

It later emerged he had a £2million fortune stashed in a Swiss bank account."

Intelliegence and Politics?

This study may have some validity, but the report makes little sense. Conclusions are stated with no evidence connecting them to the study. One remarkable statement is: "Religion, the current theory goes, did not help people survive or reproduce necessarily, but goes along the lines of helping people to be paranoid, Kanazawa said. Assuming that, for example, a noise in the distance is a signal of a threat helped early humans to prepare in case of danger."

Intercourse in Pennsylvania has managed to hold on to its name, while California's Negrohead Mountain has been renamed Ballard Mountain

[From article]

"Areas mapped during the gold rush were often given names that reflected the no-nonsense argot of prospectors. Generations of students have giggled at a river in California that enjoys the name Shitbritches Creek. That somewhat lavatorial name has survived, so far. As have a place called Hell in Michigan, an Intercourse in Pennsylvania, and a town called Crappo, in Maryland."

545 VS. 350,000,000

545 vs 300,000,000

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the and, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems..

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.

Human Services Corporations Speak for Disabled

Headline says the disabled fight for funds. The article says advocates and families. That would mean human services corporations and professionals who live off of persons with disabilities. They speak for persons with disabilities. They tell persons with disabilities what they need and take the money. This is one more special interest exploiting their clients and the taxpayer.

Today's Spineless Leaders

The preferred leader (public and private) according to Roger Morris is a weak individual with relaxed rectitude. How does this apply to Cadillac Deval, Obama, Paterson, Paulson, Geithner, Rangel, Daschle, Biden, Bill Clinton, and all the rest? Ever hear any of them complain about corruption among politicians, police or courts? They remain silent and divert attention proposing property tax relief, universal health care, anything to keep the herd bewildered to use Noam Chomsky's phrase.

Palin and Human Services

Reason disability advocates shun Palin is because most of them are liberal Democrats. (Liberal feminists declare Palin is not a woman.) Democrats focus on funding not disability rights. They ignore daily slurs in major media, in courts, and by politicians. Palin's focus differs from human services corporations and professionals who earn their money providing goods and services. Palin is focused on an individual not a business.

Double Standard in Paterson Aide Scandal

If this is a matter for serious concern by journalists, why was there no reports of abuses of power when tenured Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested in Cambridge? The President, the MA Governor and the Mayor of Cambridge all used their public offices to make the arrest go away. Can't ignore the President's beer summit which was international news. Plus the District Attorney abdicated his power and allowed the city solicitor and a private attorney to "negotiate" the dismissal of the charge. Why was that acceptable behavior while this is not?

Laws With/Without Penalties Are the Same

Concern about a toothless bullying bill is misguided. Current laws which carry heavy penalties are not enforced. Taxpayer funded agencies refuse to address criminal abuse of elders especially those with disabilities. Sociopaths are given a green light by law enforcement to intensify their abuses knowing there will be no enforcement. The idea in MA is to permit an open society--open to any and all acts which do not affect the ruling class which remains above the laws of man.

Faulty Memories from 1986 Killing

Delahunt laments not having Bishop sent for a competency evaluation in 1986, which could be used against her. Is this US Rep. former DA a delightful fool? He expects everyone to believe him. He is laughable fraud. Bishop committed her latest crime in Alabama where they have law enforcement. MA government privatized enforcement to the Bulger crime family. Contemporary Psychiatry and Drugs

Menand claims "Mental disorders [. . .] are biological conditions, since they correspond to changes in the body." But he provides no evidence for this claim. The American Psychiatric Association was unable to to do so but the false claim continues to be promoted.
Never mentioned is the idea that people who are diagnosed with mental illness have statutory and Constitutional Rights as a person with a disability. Psychiatrists seem to think they are above the laws of man. One psychiatrist told me "I don't have time to read the Constitution."
This essay treats irrational arguments equally to rational arguments. Logic does not enter into the discussion.

[From the article]
Greenberg thinks that numbers like these are ridiculous—not because people aren’t depressed but because, in most cases, their depression is not a mental illness. It’s a sane response to a crazy world. [. . .]
it’s not even that drug companies and the psychiatric establishment have some kind of moral or political stake in these arrangements—that they’re in the game in order to protect the status quo. They just see, in the world’s unhappiness, a chance to make money. They invented a disease so that they could sell the cure.[. . .]
the increase in the number of people who are given a diagnosis of depression suggests that what has changed is not the number of people who are clinically depressed but the definition of depression, which has been defined in a way that includes normal sadness.[. . .]
The discovery of the remedy creates the disease. [. . .]
Donald Klein, of Columbia University, who was one of the key figures in the transformation of psychiatry to a biologically based practice.[. . .]
Kirsch concludes that since antidepressants have no more effectiveness than sugar pills, the brain-chemistry theory of depression is “a myth.”[. . .]
Is psychopharmacology evil, or is it useless?[. . .]
critics who, like Greenberg, accuse it of turning deviance into a disorder, and of confusing health with conformity. [. . .]
Homosexuality, originally labelled a sociopathic personality disorder, was eliminated from the D.S.M. in 1973, partly in response to lobbying by gay-rights groups.[. . .]
Between 1968 and 1981, Valium was the most frequently prescribed medication in the Western world. In 1972, stock in its manufacturer, Hoffmann-La Roche, traded at seventy-three thousand dollars a share.[. . .]
thalidomide, which was prescribed as a sedative, caused birth defects.[. . .]
D.S.M.-II listed a hundred and eighty-two diagnoses; the current edition, D.S.M.-IV-T.R., lists three hundred and sixty-five.

Former DA Reveals Bigotry

William Delahunt, District Attorney when Amy Bishop shot her brother to death in Braintree, MA said, “If an arrest had been completed and charges of assault with a dangerous weapon had been filed . . . the district attorney’s office . . . would have requested psychiatric evaluation of Miss Bishop. We can speculate what that might have revealed.”

Delahunt indicates that he used psychiatry to stigmatize suspects. On TV Delahunt said the evaluation would stay with her for life showing how psychiatry avoids due process protections. During an evaluation what a person says can be used against him. Police and prosecutors use psychiatry to get convictions otherwise illegal.

Delahunt illegally discriminates based on disability and violates privacy laws.

Delahunt makes diagnoses? I thought only psychiatrists were able to predict the future.

When he was DA a suspect was accused of killing his parents. Delahunt said there is no history of mental illness about the man, as if there were it would eplain why he killed his parents. This bigoted guy was a DA and now writes laws to facilitate psychiatric abuse. He is not unique among elected officials.

Free Train Passes for Retirees

"About 15,000 retired transit workers get a stunning free pass on the subways and buses for life, Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday -- which at full value is worth at least $16 million annually to the cash-strapped MTA.

And the Transport Workers Union retirees get just as generous a break on the railroads."

Psychiatry is a Boondoggle

"When one of the women, made aware of the memo, confronted Dr. Ivins about it in 2008, he wrote to her, blaming an alternate personality he called '"Crazy Bruce, who surfaces periodically as paranoid, severely depressed and ridden with incredible anxiety.' He complained that 'it seems as though I have been selected as the blood sacrifice for this whole thing.'”

According to the New York Times, mental illness is now self diagnosed? When neighbors, spouses, TV psychologists who never met the person and journalists can all make diagnoses who needs psychiatrists? Of what value are such a designations? Courts, the psychiatric industry, the drug industry and the human services industrial complex promote the largest boondoggle in the history of the world.

Biden Clueless or Lying

"Biden said yesterday, "We understand why they're angry. . . We get it."
Hours later, President Obama was praising his stimulus program to the heavens: 'There has never been a program of this scale, moved at this speed, that has been enacted as effectively and as transparently as the recovery act.'"

Dogs Serve, Cats Rule

"FROM a New York judge: Want some one who eats what's put in front of him and never says it's not as good as his mother's? Get a dog.

Who'll go out at any hour as long as you like? Get a dog.

Never touch the remote, doesn't care about football and can snuggle as you watch romantic movies? Get a dog.

Content to get on your bed and warm your feet and you can push off if he snores? Get a dog.

If you want someone who never criticizes, doesn't care if you're fat or ugly, who loves you unconditionally, perpetually? Get a dog . . .

BUT if you want someone who never comes when you call, ignores you when you come home, leaves hair everywhere, walks all over you and acts like your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness? Get a cat."
