Cambridge City Council Candidates Get Union Leaders' Endorsements

Councilor "Benzan has earned the endorsement of seven labor unions representing more than 18,000 members in Cambridge and the Greater Boston area." Was there a vote of all the members of these unions? Or are these endorsements from the wealthy union leaders? How many of the 18,000 members allegedly spoken for, live in Cambridge? Did they agree to have their leaders speak for them? Councilors McGovern and Simmons recently were endorsed by another union. Same questions apply. Who works hardest for those "working men and women?" Why does this mean I should vote for Benzan? McGovern? Simmons?
