Cambridge, MA City Councilor Wants Uncivil Speakers Chilled

In case you were not paying attention the First Amendment was itself amended by a single City Councilor, restricting speech that is not civil. The city joins Harvard University which objects to criticism as uncivil speech saying it is not protected by the Constitution. This is the latest change in the rules of law for public comment and for other councilors. We don't need no stinkin' speech. No need either for an Executive Order, a burden when the White House makes changes to laws.

[From article]
Councilor Marc McGovern [. . .] took exception to Mazen’s statement that the increase to $12 is not morally defensible.
“That’s a pretty heavy statement to make because somebody doesn’t feel you’re level of comfort with the risk,” McGovern said. “That’s [a] pretty divisive, nasty thing to say.”
McGovern also said he didn’t like hearing people in public comment say that the council was supporting developers over affordable housing by voting for the increase to $12 instead of $24.“That kind of rhetoric, we’ve got to stop,” McGovern said.
