US Rep. Sells Super Bowl Tickets for Fund Raising
60 Minutes reported in January 2012 that the NFL earns about $21 billion a year. The teams share their earnings. That is from advertising, clothing, trinkets and from ticket sales. But still they bleed taxpayers for subsidies for their new stadiums. There's two problems here. People continue to pay high prices so that the team owners thrive and the players get ridiculous salaries. But they also share the relaxed rectitude of the politicians. That is why they keep getting re-elected. If voters wanted honest politicians they would have them. Same applies to journalists who mislead taxpayers and voters.

"To get to the Super Bowl, all Meeks has to do is pick up the phone. The NFL said it makes tickets available at face value — $800, $900 or $1,200 — to elected officials but refused to discuss who was buying. Television networks also provide tickets but were mum on purchasers.

“Not only can we not call and get them, they won’t take our calls. A congressman obviously can get through to them, and that’s a perfect example of why it does create an ethical question,” said Jordan I. Kobritz,"
