Authorities have a man in custody who is "believed to be the alleged gunman" in the killing of a uniformed sheriff's deputy, Sgt. William Kennard of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN.

A man shot a uniformed sheriff's deputy "execution-style" while he fueled his patrol car in the Houston area, killing him instantly, authorities said.
Deputy Darren H. Goforth, 47, was returning to his car after pumping gas Friday night.
The gunman walked up from behind him and opened fire for no apparent reason, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.
When Goforth fell to the ground, the gunman stood over him and shot him some more, authorities said. He died at the scene.

Shannon J. Miles, 31, of the nearby town of Copperfield, will face capitol murder charges in the “senseless and cowardly act,” Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman told reporters after the arrest Saturday.
Miles’ rap sheet includes charges of resisting arrest, trespass and “disorderly conduct with a firearm,” Hickman said.
“We have not been able to extract any details regarding a motive,” Hickman said of Friday’s killing of Deputy Darren Goforth, a 10-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.
“As far as we know, Deputy Goforth had no prior contact with the suspect,” and the shooting was “unprovoked,” Hickman said.

But multiple signs posted at the property's entrance and along a staffed check-in table told those arriving to "Please have cash ready or make checks payable to: Donald J. Trump for President, Inc." Another read, "Entry Fee $100 Per Person."
On Saturday, Trump expressed frustration that coverage of Friday's event focused on the discrepancy.
"I got so angry at my people because somebody put up a sign saying $100," he said.

I call it the Pendulum Factor.
It reflects the fact that the legacy of each president includes the political climate he leaves behind. In plain English, Barack Obama’s most ­important failures as a leader begat Donald Trump’s success.
A favorable legacy among voters generally means the public wants more of the same in the next president. The clearest example is that Vice President George H.W. Bush succeeded Ronald Reagan in 1988, an election widely regarded as Reagan’s third term.
On the other hand, George W. Bush narrowly defeated Vice President Al Gore in 2000, a disputed election that was nonetheless seen as a repudiation of the scandal-scarred Bill Clinton era.
The pendulum swung back again when Obama followed Bush, who left office with wars in Iraq and ­Afghanistan unsettled and the economy cratering and jobs vanishing.

De Blasio swept away stop-and-frisk — a policy police brass instituted in 1990 to let cops search and detain anyone they suspected of committing a crime — as a sop to his core supporters as soon as he took over in City Hall, Kelly says in a scathing critique of the mayor’s law-enforcement policies.
“And who benefited most from our successes?” Kelly writes. “The very people the de Blasio campaign were reportedly speaking for, young minority males especially.”
Kelly chided Manhattan federal Judge Shira Scheindlin for helping de Blasio win the primary thanks to her “disturbing, highly offensive” decision describing stop-and-frisk as unconstitutional and calling for reforms.
“What really burned me up though, one of many things, from a tiny number of incidents, cherry-picked from millions, Judge Scheindlin had pinned the whole police department as a racist institution,” he writes.
He calls the decision “bad science, bad judgement, bad policy, and on a human level personally wrong.”
“This was a product of a transparently cynical collaboration among an agenda-driven academic, a crafty plaintiff’s attorney and a judge who already made up her mind.”
Kelly saved his harshest criticism for de Blasio’s campaign rhetoric.
He excoriated de Blasio for treating cops as “cartoonish villains” and using that rhetoric to eke out a victory with a “narrow slice” of voters.
“I personally resent the implications of de Blasio’s false narrative,” he writes. “I knew the truth — that our policies targeted reported crimes. We didn’t target people based on their skin color.”
“Bill de Blasio didn’t only run against the only candidates in the race to replace Mike Bloomberg,” Kelly adds. “He also ran against the police.”

The ex-commissioner’s book calls for police departments across the country to recruit more officers of color and wean themselves off surplus military weapons.
And he chastised the Ferguson, Mo., police department for mishandling its investigation into Officer Darren Wilson’s shooting of Michael Brown, even though Wilson was cleared of any misconduct.
“They failed to release information in a timely fashion, they had far too many talking to the media, delivering confusing, conflicting reports,” he writes.
And when cops left Brown’s body in the street for hours, they “contributed to the rush to judgment against Darren Wilson,” Kelly says.
But he blasted pols who tolerate lax enforcement of the law.
“If we ease up on the things that made us successful, if we bow too much to the political pressures of the day, we are going to see more young people die and more young lives lost before they have had a chance to live,” Kelly writes.

Trading Cambridge MA Trees For Parking Cars, Medical Marijuana?

City of Cambridge, under direction of the committee for a new library, with oversight from the City Council and City Manager decided it was necessary for the new library to provide an underground parking garage. Unlike the Boston Public Library, the New York Public Library and the Brooklyn Public Library all of which do not provide parking, Cambridge had to have it. One result is that this huge tree growing in Joan Lorenz Park for many years suddenly lost its root system and was dying. Here are some of my images of the tree which is no longer on the lawn in front of the new main library.

This is the opening to get to the parking garage in case of emergency. It was why the tree was removed. No need for trees when you have enough parking spaces. More Cambridge City Council policy with contradictory and counterproductive effects in the name of good. Always in the name of good, and diversity. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Better there should be violence than to hurt anyone's feelings. I mean, like, what if someone wanted to use the library but was offended if they had to walk to the library or take a bus or a taxi. Or like, I mean, like, you know, if they had to park on the street. How icky. I mean, you know, how hateful can you be? 

Will this new lawn space be used to grow medical marijuana? That way you know, like, I mean, people who need it will not have to go far. They can park in the library garage and get some quickly, without waiting for the dispensaries to open. Like, how awesome is that? Thanks City Council.

The Refugee Crisis™ debate is framed as a battle between compassionate liberals responding to desperate pleas and coin-counting, callous, conservative reactionaries. But charitable motives animate the Left little, if at all. Liberals are notoriously tightfisted with (their own) charitable dollars; even more to the point, when a shipload of Jews fleeing Nazi persecution wanted safe haven in the US, leftist icon FDR turned it away. It’s one of those curious coincidences in history that the Left’s attitude toward refugees changed precisely when leftists discovered they could import voters who would empower them.
And does attaching something as a rider — citizenship — to charity aid the cause of charity? Are people more or less likely to offer charity to a person if the act begins and ends with charity, or if they must grant the individual some decision-making power in their home as well? That’s a package deal only a masochist could love.
So there’s an easy way to uncover liberals’ true motivations and whether they’re serious about charity for refugees. Make a simple offer: you’ll give bona fide refugees safe haven, and you’ll do your best to ensure they’re treated well. But there’s no citizenship. Ever. And they’ll be expected to eventually return to their homelands. See if the leftists bite…anything but your extended hand.

Moreover, since many refugees are Muslim, why aren’t Saudi Arabia, Qatar, The United Arab Emirates and the other oil-rich Arab nations taking them in? Wouldn’t it seem a natural fit? The environmentalists and Silicon Valley get subsidies for green energy and EPA attacks on our energy industry, at the price of energy security and blue collar jobs. The Hispanic activists get illegal immigration, at the cost of good salaries and jobs for citizens. Hollywood and liberal Jews and academia get entry to the jobs and cocktail parties controlled by punitive, blacklisting, fellow liberals. And they all get to feel superior and sanctimonious at the same time by libeling conservatives as uncaring, racist, morons.

Each Democrat voting block cares only about themselves. That is the essence of the Democratic Party.
No wonder Democrats easy to buy off on Iran. Not one part of the Democrat voting bloc cares about national security, stability in the Middle East, Israel, or the dangers of a Sunni-Shite arms race. For most of them patriotism is so passé, so flyover country. They only care about getting their own perks. They are dreamers who believe their own B.S. about how beautiful the world will be once America stops being aggressive. Cambridge MA Politicians and Journalists Speak For Others

In this interview, media darling (regularly cited in local papers and on public television), and City Councilor Nadeem Mazem, indicates he suffers from a common syndrome of Cambridge politicians. He says, " everyone knows it [minimum wage] should be $15 an hour." Really? Everyone? How does he know that? He adds, "everyone [in the Boston area] secretly feels in their gut that this just isn’t going to happen," Again. How does he know what people feel? Especially if it is a secret? He's not the only one who speaks for others, with or without their permission. In a recent interview published in the Cambridge Chronicle, City Councilor Carlone does the same thing. They are not the only ones. Former City Councilor Jim Braude used to do the same thing when he was a councilor. He also did it on his radio show. I asked in a phone call why he did that. It did not stop him. He continues to speak for others. Now he does a local PBS television show and continues the tradition. He added an upgrade. He has three guests for a seven minute segment. That allows for the four of them including the host less than two minutes each to discuss complex issues. In order to extend the time he asks a question of his guests and then cuts them off saying, "I got it." Meaning he is so smart he knows what the guest is going to say. Can he read minds? Is that why he speaks for others? Can the other city councilors also read minds?

Returning to this interview, Councilor Mazem refers to "high value construction that buoys our economy and empowers our local government to do incredible things for education." If that's true why are the educational results of all that money so disappointing? He adds, "we have academic powerhouses, we have everything we need to empower the upper middle class and above." He does not mention teachers unions and other government unions. Public policy is hindered by these unions and none of the politicians speak about them except to boast that they negotiated with the unions for the city. Why is that? Do politicians fear criticizing unions?

Those academic powerhouses are focused properly on educating their students and doing research. What does public school education have to do with that? Is academic excellence of the universities supposed to rub off on the city's students?  He suggests a problem without discussing it when he says, "we also have 45 percent of our public school kids on free and reduced lunch, which means that their parents are living around the poverty line." Oh? Cambridge has a large high income population. Why are so many of their children attending private schools? Is there a problem unmentioned with the city's public schools?

Showing off his knowledge of economics Mazem makes a remarkable comment. "if you financially benefit the wealthy, they will save it, but if you put dollars in the pockets of people who are working or middle class, they will spend it at local businesses. It happens right away." How does he know that? Wealthy people invest their money. Poor people have access to the internet and purchase items online anywhere in the world. The Council provided access to the internet for all Cambridge citizens defeating their campaign to buy local. Indeed they hire out of town consultants to make their decisions. What is up with that? Once the Council bought a book as a present for the City Manager. At a public meeting Mayor Reeves boasted that was purchased at Barnes and Nobles.

The final perplexing comment has to do with a proposed experiment of councilors living on $10 a day. Homeless people live on less. Free food is served at venues seven days a week in and around Cambridge. Free clothing, furniture and more. One can get free mental health services too. Some homeless persons abuse the system and pretend to be ill and call emergency services, which provides free rides to hospitals with a free overnight stay with meals. Why not address some solvable problems  instead of reinventing the wheel, grandstanding for journalists. The more things change, the more they stay the same imitating Washington DC.

Study of Academic Psychology Research Finds More Than Half Unreliable

Psychologists testify in courts making predictions about the future based on personal opinions which cause people to lose their freedom. On Friday August 28, 2015 Rush Limbaugh discussed this story and noted that the same problem exists with other kinds of academic research. Universities like Harvard get $140 million a year in taxpayer funds to do research. How reliable are their published findings? They are permitted to be their own judges. A major investigation into scores of claims made in psychology research journals has delivered a bleak verdict on the state of the science.
An international team of experts repeated 100 experiments published in top psychology journals and found that they could reproduce only 36% of original findings.
The study, which saw 270 scientists repeat experiments on five continents, was launched by psychologists in the US in response to rising concerns over the reliability of psychology research.

Brian Nosek, a professor at the University of Virgina: “Science is a process of uncertainty reduction, and no one study is almost ever a definitive result on its own.”

In the investigation, a whopping 75% of the social psychology experiments were not replicated, meaning that the originally reported findings vanished when other scientists repeated the experiments. A TSA agent is accused of sexually assaulted a woman at LaGuardia Airport after telling her she needed to be searched in the bathroom.
According to authorities, the suspect was arrested following an investigation of claims by the 22-year-old victim, a college student from Korea.
The victim was in Terminal B at around 8 p.m. Tuesday when she was told by the suspect to go into the bathroom for a search.
Once there, the agent molested her, said police.
After the attack, the victim found witnesses who recognized the suspect. The suspect was wearing a TSA uniform at the time of his arrest and she picked him out a photo array.
Investigators determined he was a TSA agent. He was arrested Thursday night and charged with sexual assault.

Conservatives Oppose Patent Reform Bills, Which Would Harm Individual Inventors

Opponents of the bills say they impose overreaching standards that patent litigation that would make it hard for small innovators to protect their property rights. They argue the legislation favors major tech companies like Google and Apple.

Police say Jesus Atrian sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl with Down Syndrome in her home in Pearland Monday afternoon.
KHOU reports Atrian is an “illegal alien with a prior adjudication for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact and is required to register as a Sex Offender.”
There was a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the incident. Police believe he is “attempting to travel to Mexico.”

The Friendswood Journal reports the 25-year-old illegal alien “plead guilty to indecency with a child by sexual contact in August of 2014 and was sentenced to eight years of probation.”
Sometime later, Atrian was turned over to officials from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and was reportedly deported to Mexico.
It’s unclear when he once again illegally entered the United States.

The Muslim Brotherhood took power in Egypt with the Obama administration's approval after it had all but abandoned the government of Hosni Mubarak, a long-time ally and friend. It was while Abedin was advising Hillary that State dropped its long-standing policy of having no dealings with the Muslim Brotherhood.

It relates that at the urging of Jarrett, Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden three times before approving the Navy SEAL mission in Pakistan on May 2, 2011. Seems she was concerned about political harm to Obama if the mission failed.

Cops are targets today like never before. The black hostility towards police is open, mainstream, and unapologetic.
And increasing. Jailhouse legal scholars fill the internet, explaining why it is alright to disobey lawful commands. And how, if that does not work, “shoot, ‘em. Kill ‘em.”

These mice or rats are created by removing a human organ such as a kidney from a dead human baby and implanting it into a mouse or rat for the purpose of medical research.

Blaming Psychiatric Diagnoses For Crime Is Like the Inquisition's Witch Mongers

Modern society is unable to recognize that evil exists and that humans commit evil acts. They need to have something to blame violence and crime on, other than humans. Thus liberals blame guns. Conservatives blame mental illness. There is no causal connection between a psychiatric diagnosis and crime or violence. But that does not prevent police, politicians, lawyers, journalists from relentless repetition of their fantastic belief. It makes them feel good. They are fighting to stop crime and violence. But using their misguided standard will never end crime or violence. They all refuse to look under the rock where evil hides. So thousands of innocent harmless people continue to be targeted, demonized and abused due to paranoid rage of police, courts, journalists because of their worship of the pharmaceutical and the psychiatric industries and "the human services industrial complex" (MA State Rep. Marie Parente's term.) How is this any different from the witch mongers during the Inquisition? Not very much.

Metro Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron said police had not uncovered a motive, but he said Montano had been committed for psychiatric treatment at least four times, twice in 2004 and twice in 2007.

He also noted that Montano had been arrested in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest, and said he was reported as a missing person to the Murfreesboro police department on Monday.

Police released an image of Vincente David Montano, 29, who was holding an Airsoft replica pistol when he attacked a mostly empty screening at the Carmike Hickory 8 theater around 1pm Wednesday.
Officers say he let off huge amounts of red-tinted tear gas and slashed a man with his axe.
Montano, who was wearing a surgical mask in the attack, was shot dead when he tried to leave via a back entrance.
Terrified moviegoers thought Montano's gun was real, and called in police, one of whom reportedly had a brief firefight with him.
Moments later he is said to have tried to escape the theater, where he was gunned down by a SWAT team just outside an emergency exit.
Officers said Montao was wearing two backpacks during the attack, one of which had a replica bomb inside - which disposal experts destroyed.
Police later revealed that Montano had a history of mental illness, including paranoid schizophrenia, and had been committed four times.
A spokesman for the Nashville Metro Police Department said he suffered 'significant psychiatric or psychological issues' and had been arrested in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest.
Police said that Montano's mother, Denise Pruit, filed a missing persons report with Texas rangers two days ago. She hadn't seen Montano in person since 2013.

When he got outside, he was gunned down by officers from a SWAT team.
Officers then walked into the theater to search the scene and were forced to wear gas masks because the air was so thick with pepper spray.
In a second briefing on Wednesday evening, Antioch police chief Steve Anderson said that there were only eight people in the screening of Mad Max when the man began his attack.
Anderson said three officers went to the theater and were preparing to engage the man when the SWAT team arrived and took over.
