Chicago Woman Stabbed to Death On Subway, Bystanders Filmed Incident, Suspect in Custody

Jessica Hampton, 25

[From article]
The family of a young woman stabbed to death on a Red Line train was furious photos and video of her murder were posted to social media, but no one stopped the man who took her life.
“My sister was beautiful, gifted young lady. She didn’t deserve to go the way she did,” said Lorel Hampton.
She and her mother were grieving over the loss of her 25-year-old sister, Jessica Hampton, who was stabbed to death on board a CTA Red Line train Thursday afternoon on the South Side.
Lorel and her mother were furious about images of the brutal attack going viral on social media.
“This is not a game. This is not a show,” Lorel said.
Crisis responder Dawn Valenti said it’s “very hurtful” for the Hamptons, because they saw photos and videos of the murder before they knew the victim was Jessica.
“This family was watching that video yesterday. They were looking at the pictures on Facebook that people were spreading, not knowing until 9 o’clock last night that that in fact was their loved one that they were looking at,” she said.
After seeing the video themselves, they also questioned why no one acted to help Jessica.
“Everybody that was there taking pictures, and shooting videos and stuff didn’t try to help her,” Lorel said.
Valenti acknowledged passengers might have tried to help during the attack. That’s what witnesses told CBS outside the scene Thursday, saying they backed off after seeing the knife.
Police have said the murder apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute. The man who stabbed Jessica was taken into custody shortly after the attack, but has not yet been charged.

US Navy Submarine Crew Punished For Filming Women Shipmates Undressing

[From article]
The filming wasn't a one-off or a prank. It was a sophisticated and repeated invasion of privacy, where male Wyoming sailors acted as lookouts while a friend filmed female shipmates undressing with cell phones or an iPod Touch — both of which are banned aboard the sub.
One sailor admitted that he and a male peer rushed to secretly record each female midshipman while she was in the shower changing room. They filmed every woman each time she took a shower during the three-month patrol, he said — several times a day, according to a new report.
[. . .]

Of the 12 sailors who had known about the videos — filmed, distributed, watched or heard about them — eight were court-martialed (one was acquitted), three went to captain's mast, and one was released with no charges.
[. . .]
The filming had gone on for nearly a year, investigators would come to learn, with videos of up to four of the women assigned to the boat as well as midshipmen on cruise during two patrols with Wyoming, from August to November 2013 and March to June 2014. Three sailors filmed the women and distributed the short recordings; two admitted their guilt and one was implicated by another sailor.
The videos and images were recorded on two cellphones and one iPod Touch
[. . .]
The CO of the Wyoming Gold crew of about 160 sailors banned all devices with screens under 7 inches from secret spaces like control and engineering rooms. That move effectively prohibited all cell phones and iPods.
NCIS recovered seven videos of women assigned to Wyoming. Everything else had been deleted, including videos of female midshipmen on cruise with Wyoming.
[. . .]

"This was a deliberate criminal activity taken by a handful of sailors and I find no indication that the leadership environment of either command was culpable in creating an environment that contributed to this insidious incident," Houston wrote.

Texas Democrat Boasts of Organized Crime Connections

Harold Dutton
Undercover video, American Phoenix Foundation, Screenshot
[From article]
An undercover video shows a member of the Texas state house talking about apparent connections to organized crime and his meeting with a sheriff who allegedly told him his friendship meant the rep could get away with murder.
Now Texas Democratic Rep. Harold Dutton says he was simply making the whole story up at the time.
Ben Wetmore, general counsel for the American Pheonix Foundation, the organization which produced the undercover video, told TheDCNF it was recorded at a hotel in downtown Austin in April.
In the video provided exclusively to The Daily Caller News Foundation, Dutton says he was told that Austin lobbyist Nick Kralj, who he describes as his “forever friend,” has connections to the Bonnano crime family based out of New York. Dutton, who can be seen drinking wine, also talks about former Galveston Sheriff Joe Max Taylor, saying he flew to Galveston with Kralj and the sheriff told him that since he’s the sheriff, so they could get away with anything, like, say, killing someone.

TSA Officers Suspended For Sex Video Using Government Equipment

Is this a public record available under the FOIA?

[From article]
[Update at 10:24 p.m. ET: TSA Spokesperson Bruce Anderson told The Intercept Wednesday night that a third air marshal was involved. “Two of the employees involved have been placed on an indefinite suspension without pay, and the third employee has resigned from the agency,” he wrote in an e-mail.]
Two federal air marshals have been suspended without pay after allegedly using their government phones to film and share their sex acts with a prostitute while on assignment in Europe, The Intercept has learned.
[. . .]
The two air marshals, based in Chicago, allegedly used their government-issued phones to record their own sexual encounters with a prostitute and then shared them using their personal email accounts, which they had connected to their work phones, according to TSA, government and law enforcement sources.

Homosexual Who Lobbied Hard To Be Jury Forman for Vanderbilt Rape Case, Causes Mistrial Due to Failure To Reveal He Was Raped

Former Vanderbilt University football players Brandon Banks, Cory Batey, Jaborian ‘Tip’ McKenzie, and Brandon Vandenburg, are accused in the July 2013 gang rape of a female classmate.
[From article]
The judge in the Vanderbilt University rape case has declared a mistrial, tossing out the verdict for football players Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey, who were previously convicted on multiple counts of aggravated rape.
Judge Monte Watkins handed down the ruling Tuesday, which entitles the men to a new trial, in an eight-page written order obtained by ABC News, because the jury foreman failed to disclose that he was once the victim of statutory rape, according to the order.
[. . .]
Vandenburg and Batey were previously found guilty of four counts of aggravated rape, one count of attempted aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Vandenburg was also found guilty of tampering with evidence and unlawful photography after prosecutors claimed he recorded a sexual assault of a female classmate on his phone and shared it with friends.
Prosecutors said the victim, a 21-year-old former neuroscience major and dance team member at the university, was drunk and passed out during the alleged 2013 attack.

Video of Holocaust When Concentration Camps Were Liberated

[From description]
In 1985, after finding five of the film’s six reels, FRONTLINE added the script and asked the late British actor Trevor Howard to record it. FRONTLINE’s plan was to present the film unedited, as what the film’s producers had originally intended it to be: an unflinching documentation of the conditions of the death camps.
FRONTLINE broadcast the film for the first time in May of that year, using the title the Imperial War Museum had given it: Memory of the Camps. The New York Times said, “Memory of the Camps is a filmed monument that does more than tell the story of what it is recalling. It is the story itself,” and the Boston Globe called it “an uninterrupted silent scream that one can’t turn a deaf ear to or look away from.”

O'Keefe Exposes More Sharpton Fund Raising and ACORN Abuses

Oh, wait. Is that Brian Williams identifying Al Sharpton as an FBI informant? That means The New York Reverend uses the FBI for fund raising. Is that like the Clintons using their government offices for donations? It gets confusing, what the purpose of government is.

[From article]
“We have a story we’re going to release this coming week and I’ve never thought about this before but I am afraid for my life on this one,” O’Keefe tweeted on Saturday.
Whatever its nature, the story promises to be a big one given the impact generated by O’Keefe’s previous work.
In 2007, O’Keefe posed as a donor wanting to give money to Planned Parenthood to pay for the abortion of black and other minority babies. Workers at numerous Planned Parenthood clinics agreed to accept the donation on these terms.
O’Keefe’s biggest scalp was undoubtedly his 2009 take down of ACORN, an advocacy organization for people on low income. Hidden camera footage published by O’Keefe showed ACORN employees giving advice on how to evade detection for tax evasion, human smuggling and child prostitution. Congress voted to eliminate federal funding for ACORN as a result of the exposé.
In August 2014, O’Keefe demonstrated the porous state of the U.S. border when he crossed an unguarded footbridge in the upper Rio Grande while dressed as Osama Bin Laden.
For O’Keefe’s sake, let’s hope that he doesn’t end up like Andrew Breitbart, the conservative journalist who weeks before his untimely death on March 1, 2012 promised to release devastating video footage of President Obama.

JAMES O’KEEFE: “I AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE”
Journalist set to release bombshell story
by PAUL JOSEPH WATSON | FEBRUARY 23, 2015

Al Sharpton is all about the Benjamins, a daughter of police chokehold victim Eric Garner claims in a bombshell videotape.
Erica Snipes tees off on the reverend as interested primarily in money during a secretly recorded conversation by controversial conservative activist James O’Keefe’s group, Project Veritas.
One of O’Keefe’s investigators poses as a Garner supporter with a hidden camera during a protest last month at the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island.
“You think Al Sharpton is kind of like a crook in a sense?” the investigator is heard asking Garner’s oldest daughter.
[. . .]
In the video, Sharpton is also criticized by leaders and supporters involved in the Michael Brown-police shooting case in Ferguson, Mo., and the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida, according to the Project Veritas videotapes.
Jean Petrus, a Brooklyn businessman who attended a recent Trayvon Martin Foundation fund-raiser in Florida, is also seen criticizing Sharpton in the secretly taped video.
“He knows how to make money and get money. They’re shakedown guys to me. You know, let’s call it what it is, they’re shakedown,” he says in the video.

Baltimore Violence Captured on Hand Held Cam

Published on Apr 25, 2015, YouTube
RAW VIDEO -- Baltimore Riots Looting Tears Gas Freddie Gray Protesters Freddy Gray Destroy Stores Protest Erupts In Chaos A Police Car Camera Woman Gets Robbed While Covering Baltimore Protests! Kept It Real: Dude Goes In On How The Media & The System Are Portraying The Baltimore Protests! Scenes Of Chaos In Baltimore As Thousands Protest Freddie Gray’s Death! Cars Get Smashed 4/25/2015!!!

Several thousand protesters have converged in the US city of Baltimore to protest over the death of 25-year-old black man Freddie Gray while in police custody.
Gray died on Sunday after sustaining multiple injuries which included three fractures in his neck vertebrae, a smashed voicebox and the severing of 80 per cent of his spine from his neck.
Gray had been in police custody for a week, having been arrested in a high-crime neighbourhood after he made eye contact with police and fled. After he was caught he was found to be carrying a knife.
Melissa Ealey, Gray’s cousin, told Al Jazeera that no crime perpetrated could warrant such abuse.
“There is no reason the police had to conduct themselves in a manner to where…it cost him his life," Ealey said. "I can understand breaking the law is wrong but the way they apprehended him and the things they did were completely against protocol and just inhumane as a whole."
'National epidemic' of violence
Signs in hand, with slogans such as "Jail Killer Police" and "Unite Here," demonstrators from different racial backgrounds flooded two city blocks and marched to city hall, where the crowd overtook a plaza.
March organiser and lawyer Malik Shabazz described violence against by American police officers as "a national epidemic against black men".

Al Jazeera's Shihab Rattansi, who was reporting from Baltimore's city hall, said the marchers had converged on the city centre and were now headed towards Baltimore's Oriole Park Major League Baseball stadium at Camden Yards where Baltimore's Orioles were later set to take on the Boston Red Sox.
Rattansi said police had attended the protest but were keeping a safe distance, as the protesters called for sweeping national policy changes on how cases of police brutality should be dealt with.
Their demands included the establishment of an independent civilian review board in every city to review the cases, immediate suspension without pay for police officers accused of violence and protection for whistleblowers so they could freely speak about police brutality without retaliation.
"Speaker after speakers keep saying here, when a genocide is happening against you, why would you ask the people committing it what is going on," our reporter said.
Stafford Sutton, an activist who attended the march, said changes to federal policies were required to defuse anger after a spate of recent cases of police brutality.
"I've seen a lot of individuals who have been done wrong. A federal mandate needs to be brought down. We have to go through the process, we have to follow it through and go to Washington," Sutton said.
Demonstrators have flooded the streets of Baltimore almost every day since Gray's death, although Saturday's rally was the largest.
Gray's death has been compared to those of other unarmed black men who died at the hands of police in New York City and Ferguson, Missouri, and has intensified a national debate over police treatment of African-Americans.
The US Department of Justice is conducting a separate probe into Gray's death. A wake for Gray is scheduled for Sunday, with his funeral to be held on Monday.

New Mexico Police Beat Law Student After Traffic Stop, When He Used Cell Phone To Video Tape Arrest

Jeremy Martin, Law Student

[From article]
On April 25th, 2014, Padilla pulled over Jeremy Martin for failing to stop at a stop sign. KOB noted that the police report “says he [Martin] blew a stop sign while traveling north on Wellesley Place, but there is no way to travel northbound on Wellseley to the stop sign in question.”
Martin was uncooperative with Padilla’s order to remain seated on a curb outside of his vehicle. Theoriginal police report stated that Martin was actively resisting arrest and was later treated for face and leg lacerations. The initial report did not include any information regarding the physical altercation between Padilla and Martin that ultimately led to Martin being rushed into emergency surgery to remove a testicle that had been badly damaged by Padilla’s knee. Video capturing the incident, provided by ProgressNow New Mexico, can be seen below.
[. . .] At about 7 minutes and 15 seconds into the video, Padilla is seen ordering one of Martin’s passengers to put away his cell phone that was recording the incident. Padilla is then seen seizing the passenger’s phone. At about 9 minutes into the video, Padilla can be seen deleting video from a phone.

[From article]
Following the Greenfield incident, the duo ditched their court-appointed attorneys and represented themselves pro se during a joint trial, in which Freeman made a fool out of the arresting officer, Sergeant Todd M. Dodge. Even though it’s the reason they were arrested, the main issue during the trial was actually not the fact that Eyre and Freeman had been recording Dodge and several jail employees with their cameras. That’s because video recording the police and other public officials isn’t actually against the law. The Massachusetts wiretapping law, which is often misleadingly referred to as requiring “two-party consent,” only makes it illegal to secretly audio-record another person.
Shortly before he and Eyre were arrested, Freeman used his cellphone to record audio of what was happening. The recording was posted online and the police found out about it while the two were in jail, seizing on it as a reason for the wiretapping charges. The prosecutor conceded that only Freeman had done the recording, but argued that Eyre was complicit in a “joint venture” since he caused a "distraction” by talking to Dodge.
During the trial, Freeman used video from the jail’s surveillance system to show that he had been holding his phone out in the open. He also got Dodge to admit that he looked at him while he was holding the phone out. The jury saw right through the farce, and both Eyre and Freeman were acquitted of all charges. Naturally, they got the whole ordeal on video.
“I wish more people filmed the police,” Freeman told me earlier this year, after reaching a settlement with Greenfield. He received $32,500 from the city’s insurance company, though the city didn’t admit to any wrongdoing. He added, “I’m happy my case is over and I look forward to expanding the CopBlock Network.”

Washington DC Rabbi Charged With Video Taping Nude Women At Ritual Bath

[From article]
Police arrested Freundel on Oct. 14 after a person associated with the mikvah discovered the hidden camera. Police initially found videos of six women entering and exiting a mikvah shower, and court documents say Freundel appears on film setting up the recording device. A search of his home turned up other media storage devices, and he has since been fired from the synagogue.
During Wednesday's meeting, prosecutors told victims, their spouses and some lawyers representing them that an investigation had determined Freundel had filmed 152 women. Prosecutors said 88 of the women had been filmed within the last three years. They said another 64 were filmed going back to 2009, though a statute of limitations bars prosecutors from charging Freundel with voyeurism based on those recordings.

Teacher Student Sex in DC School Recorded On Video

Symone Greene, the teacher who allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student on her first day of school

[From article]
According to an affidavit signed Tuesday, the student first met the teacher, 22-year-old Symone Greene, on Oct. 17 while she was teaching at Options Public Charter School in D.C.
The student, a 17-year-old junior, was serving as an office assistant in her classroom.
He says he flirted with Greene and gave her his cell phone number. Shortly afterwards, he says he got a text message from her.
Though he has since erased the messages, he recalls that he asked her if she was “kinky,” and that she responded by saying “I don’t tell I show.”
Around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 17, he says he went to Greene’s classroom and they engaged in sexual acts.
He recorded the sexual encounter on his cell phone and shared the video with other members of the school’s football team.

Rejected: Texas's highest criminal court has thrown out a law banning 'upskirt' pictures - because it restricts photographers' right to free speech and is a 'paternalistic' intrusion of a person's right to be aroused

[From article]
Texas's top criminal court has thrown out a law banning 'upskirt' pictures - because it restricts photographers' right to freedom of expression.
The Court of Criminal Appeal struck down part of the anti-'creepshot' statute, which criminalised the taking of surreptitious images in public for the purposes of sexual gratification.
These included revealing photos of women - often called 'upskirting' or 'downblousing' - that were taken without their consent.
Rejecting the law on Wednesday, Judge Sharon Keller claimed it was a violation of federal free-speech rights and a 'paternalistic' intrusion of a person's right to be aroused.

The state's highest criminal court on Wednesday tossed out part of a Texas law banning "improper photography or visual recording" - surreptitious images acquired in public for sexual gratification, often called "upskirting" or "downblousing" - as a violation of federal free-speech rights and an improper restriction on a person's right to individual thoughts.
In an 8-1 ruling, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals said photos, like paintings, films and books, are "inherently expressive" and, therefore, are protected by the First Amendment. The opinion supported a previous decision by the San Antonio-based 4th Court of Appeals.
"The camera is essentially the photographer's pen and paintbrush," the opinion written by Presiding Judge Sharon Keller said. "A person's purposeful creation of photographs and visual recordings is entitled to the same First Amendment protection as the photographs and visual recordings themselves."
[. . .]
Peter Linzer, who teaches constitutional and First Amendment law at the University of Houston Law Center, said: "It's hard to see how you could make taking a picture a crime."

Shocked to Find Images Captured by Digital Video. Huh?

Prominent media darling Jeffrey Denner, defense attorney extraordinaire, but electronics challenged, expressed outrage about crime captured on digital video. Welcome to the 20th (yes, twentieth) Century Mr. Denner. Retail outlets, banks and Harvard University use cameras for many years to help catch criminals. How is this different? The device name may differ but the process remains the same. Video images can be captured by a camera lens attached to a receiver. One more example of how remotely ignorant the law and lawyers are regarding technology now in use by law abiding citizens and criminals alike.

[From article]
“Welcome to the worst aspect of the 21st century: cyber horror and its progeny. This is just one more step in a horrible direction,” said defense attorney Jeffrey Denner."

Comcast Curtails Services After Two Increases In One Year

Comcast now requires subscribers to use a Digital Transport Adapter (DTA), which they provide free. But a new line appears on the monthly invoices, mentioning the device, perhaps for future charges. At present there is no charge. A customer service rep told me the reason for this new device is that too many people were stealing services without subscribing. One consequence is the new device prevents subscribers from scheduling a recording of a television show. For those who have TIVO or as I do a VCR, one can schedule to record two, three or more shows in the future. Even while on vacation away for home. But no longer. As of April 17, 2012 the new device must remain on channel three (or four). Programming a VCR will not record any other channel than the one on the DTA at the time of the recording. It is not possible to change channels without manually doing so. One more reason to end service.

This is the DTA remote that Comcast sends to customers. It is then only one with which users can change channels. The DTA and your television, and your VCR(s) must remain on channel 3 (or4). You can no longer use any of your remotes, not the TV remote, nor the VCR remote, to change channels.
