Juan David Villegas-Hernandez, 34, is wanted in connected with the shooting deaths of his four daughters, ages 14, 11, 7, and 3, and his wife, 34. Their names have not been released.

A New Mexico man is accused of fatally shooting his wife and four daughters in their family home and then fleeing in his car, authorities said Sunday.
All five victims are dead. They are identified as his wife, 34, and their four daughters, ages 14, 11, 7 and 3. Their names have not yet been released.
Juan David Villegas-Hernandez remained at large but may have been apprehended in Mexico on Sunday, Roswell police said. However, they cautioned that they have been unable to confirm since dealing with two countries is difficult.
Police say they may not know if Mexico has the same man they are seeking until Monday. [. . .]
The family was found dead when relatives couldn't reach them on Saturday, one went to check on the house around 11:15pm and discovered the bodies, police spokesman Todd Wildermuth said. Officers responded and found all five had suffered gunshot wounds.

New Mexico Policemen Shot Dead After Traffic Stop, Suspect in Custody

Just after 8 p.m. Monday, officer Gregg "Nigel" Benner was shot during a traffic stop near Southern Boulevard and Pinetree Road in Rio Rancho. He later died at UNM Hospital, the department confirmed early Tuesday.
Benner, 49, was a four-year veteran of the department and a married father of five adult children. He was also an Air Force veteran.

RRPD said this is the first time an officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty in the department's 34-year history.
Monday night, officer Benner pulled over a man and woman in an 1999 Dodge Durango at Arby's on Southern Boulevard. The license plate attached to the Durango did not match the vehicle, which may have been the impetus of the stop, according to a police spokesperson.
The suspects, a female driver and a passenger - a man identified as 28-year-old Andrew Romero - then fled in the vehicle and ended up near the Esther Bone Memorial Library.

Police said Romero likely reached around the woman in the driver's seat and shot Benner several times in the torso.
Police confirmed in a Monday news conference that a handgun was used and that at least three casings were found. The handgun was connected to a robbery that Romero allegedly committed later Sunday night.
Benner was unable to draw his gun in time, Rio Rancho Police Chief Michael Geier said.
A Good Samaritan and an off-duty paramedic immediately rushed to Benner's aid after the shooting. The officer was transported to UNM Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rio Rancho police said the female driver stayed on scene while Romero fled. She was shot in the foot and is currently being held on previous charges related to probation violations and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Chief Geier.
Romero has previous convictions for violent crimes, including serving three years in prison for manslaughter. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant for probation violations.
Around 3:30 a.m., several law enforcement agencies helped locate and arrest Romero at a Valero gas station near Rio Bravo and Broadway in Albuquerque. Police say he was in another stolen vehicle at that time.

On April 25th, 2014, Padilla pulled over Jeremy Martin for failing to stop at a stop sign. KOB noted that the police report “says he [Martin] blew a stop sign while traveling north on Wellesley Place, but there is no way to travel northbound on Wellseley to the stop sign in question.”
Martin was uncooperative with Padilla’s order to remain seated on a curb outside of his vehicle. Theoriginal police report stated that Martin was actively resisting arrest and was later treated for face and leg lacerations. The initial report did not include any information regarding the physical altercation between Padilla and Martin that ultimately led to Martin being rushed into emergency surgery to remove a testicle that had been badly damaged by Padilla’s knee. Video capturing the incident, provided by ProgressNow New Mexico, can be seen below.

Following the Greenfield incident, the duo ditched their court-appointed attorneys and represented themselves pro se during a joint trial, in which Freeman made a fool out of the arresting officer, Sergeant Todd M. Dodge. Even though it’s the reason they were arrested, the main issue during the trial was actually not the fact that Eyre and Freeman had been recording Dodge and several jail employees with their cameras. That’s because video recording the police and other public officials isn’t actually against the law. The Massachusetts wiretapping law, which is often misleadingly referred to as requiring “two-party consent,” only makes it illegal to secretly audio-record another person.
Shortly before he and Eyre were arrested, Freeman used his cellphone to record audio of what was happening. The recording was posted online and the police found out about it while the two were in jail, seizing on it as a reason for the wiretapping charges. The prosecutor conceded that only Freeman had done the recording, but argued that Eyre was complicit in a “joint venture” since he caused a "distraction” by talking to Dodge.
During the trial, Freeman used video from the jail’s surveillance system to show that he had been holding his phone out in the open. He also got Dodge to admit that he looked at him while he was holding the phone out. The jury saw right through the farce, and both Eyre and Freeman were acquitted of all charges. Naturally, they got the whole ordeal on video.
“I wish more people filmed the police,” Freeman told me earlier this year, after reaching a settlement with Greenfield. He received $32,500 from the city’s insurance company, though the city didn’t admit to any wrongdoing. He added, “I’m happy my case is over and I look forward to expanding the CopBlock Network.”

A northern New Mexico sheriff’s deputy accused of killing a fellow deputy fired several rounds from his semi-automatic weapon as his colleague tried to flee an alcohol-fueled argument at a hotel, police said Tuesday.
The shooting happened just after midnight at Hotel Encanto in the southern New Mexico city of Las Cruces, where the two Santa Fe County deputies had stopped to spend the night after transporting a prisoner to Safford, Arizona.

According to the 15-year-old, they all took turns picking up cinder blocks over their heads and smashing them into the men’s faces more than 10 times.
The suspects said that after the attack, they took one victim’s driver’s license and debit card. The license was found in the teens’ home, police said.
According to the 15-year-old, all three have previously attacked homeless people around Albuquerque.

He was asked to step out of the vehicle and waited on the sidewalk. Officers decided that they didn’t like the tight clench of his buttocks, a subject on which New Mexico’s constabulary is apparently expert, and determined that it was because he had illegal drugs secreted therein. So they arrested him, and took him to Gila Regional Medical Center in neighboring Hidalgo County, where Mr. Eckert was forced to undergo two abdominal X-rays, two rectal probes, three enemas, and defecate thrice in front of medical staff and representatives of two law enforcement agencies, before being sedated and subjected to a colonoscopy – all procedures performed against his will.
