Politicians Lament Private Censorship of Ad Promoting Muslim Families

These two elected officials oppose the decision by Lowes retail stores pulling its ad promoting Muslim families. But they remain silent when the Harvard University faculty punished one of its professor's public discourse.

In the former case Lowes is a private corporation where the First Amendment does not apply. The clueless public official does not know this. In the latter case Harvard too is a private corporation, but professors are allegedly protected by academic freedom from expressing their opinions. Why is Lowes a target but not Harvard?

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) also said Lowe's is choosing to disregard the First Amendment.
[. . .]
Calling the Lowe's decision "un-American" and "naked religious bigotry," Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, told The Associated Press he would also consider legislative action if Lowe's doesn't apologize to Muslims and reinstate its ads. The senator sent a letter outlining his complaints to Lowe's Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Niblock.
