Greek Theater
The Greek theatre grew out of Dionysian worship. Dionysus, also called Bacchus, was a nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy. He was the son of Zeus and Semele. Dionysus was the patron god of the important international society of actors, and their reunions were celebrated in the mode of Dionysiac Mysteries. The meetings of the mystery clubs evolved into the Greek theatre.
