Public Tolerates Sincere Celebrities

CURRID-HALKETT is correct regarding what makes the public turn against their celebrities. Not sure that Jeter is "an average dude, an everyguy with whom you could share a beer." He goes to clubs average dudes couldn't get into. He used to party with Tiger Woods.

What people perceive is more important than reality. But it was reported that
Palin was pressured to wear clothes purchased for her by the Republican
Party. It was one of several missteps by the campaign raising the question,
Was the McCain campaign manager sabotaging the entire campaign? The
decisions made were mostly wrong. Silencing Palin and making her
present an image that was alien to her was one of many mistakes.
