NYPD Shoots, Kills Ex-Marine, Who Shot At Police Twice
[From article]
The man who was shot dead by cops after opening fire at a Queens bar Wednesday night was a former Marine with a lengthy rap sheet, including several violent felonies, police sources said.
Jonathan Efraim, 30, fired a gun inside the bar — and then at cops — before he was fatally shot by police after he led them on a wild chase, sources said.
Efraim first fired a shot into the ceiling of the SBS Bar on Hillside Avenue and 168th Street in Jamaica Hills before bolting from the pub at around 9:30 p.m., according to law-enforcement sources.
Police sources said the gunfire happened after he pulled a stool up to the bar and struck up a conversation with a 66-year-old man.
But when the bartender got the impression that Efraim was bothering the man, he interrupted their chat to tell the patron that a cab was waiting for him outside.
Efraim then pulled out the pistol and screamed, “He’s not leaving! He’s not going anywhere!” police sources said.

Police sources say the man had at least 16 prior arrests, including one from 2012 in Staten Island when he caused havoc inside a tow yard belonging to his former employer.
In that incident Efraim got behind the wheel of one of the tow trucks and smashed up several other trucks, causing “irreparable damage” to at least one, according to court papers.
Most of his other arrests involved felony assault and reckless endangerment, sources said.
