Booking agent Yugeshwar Rajkumar, 44, and his New York-based company American Talent Agency Inc were allegedly paid by overseas promoters to hire big-name acts like Chris Brown, Akon, T-Pain and MC Hammer for concerts in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Rajkumar, of Bergen N.J., directed these promoters to deposit $45,000 to $300,000 into his account for each artist, authorities said.
But instead of organizing the performances, Rajkumar pocketed $1.3 million of his clients’ money and used it for rent, car payments, legal fees and even to pay off personal debts from 2008 to 2015, prosecutors charged.

Rajkumar is already in federal custody for helping operate a national high-end gambling ring run by Helly Nahmad and Ilya Trincher.
The group catered to multi-millionaire and billionaire clients including high rollers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Alex Rodriguez, authorities said.
The shady talent agent pleaded guilty to gambling charges on that case and was sentenced March 25, 2014.
