YouTube Secrets

[selection of tips, more in article, plus more details]
[From article]
You know when you're watching a video and little clickable messages pop up over the video and block what you want to see? Most YouTube creators use these sparingly, but some go overboard, and it can ruin the video.
To turn these off, click the gear icon at the lower right of the video player, and next to "Annotations," click "Off."
[. . .]
On any video, click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the video player and click the drop-down box next to "Speed." You can drop the video speed to half or a quarter of the normal playing speed.
[. . .]
You found a hilarious video you want to share with a friend. Unfortunately, it doesn't get good until three minutes in. The first part is boring and you don't want your friend to stop watching.
Cue up the video to the start of the section you want your friend to see. Then right-click the video and select "Get video URL at current time." Copy the link that appears and paste it into an email or on Facebook. When someone clicks on the link, the video will start at the exact spot you wanted.

Google's You Tube Censors Crime Reporting Due To Sensitivity Claims

This is continuing use of civility and sensitivity for censorship. It is one element of the effort to create the feminist-therapeutic state. Forgotten by prominent children of prominent political figures like Chris Cuomo, is that the purpose of the concept of free speech and the First Amendment is to protect offensive speech, speech that you hate. Speech that you like needs no protections. In ancient Athens there were no laws or constitutional amendments protecting free speech. It was a 1200 year tradition supported by the citizens of that democracy. Their contributions to knowledge about humans remain valid today. Misguided universities and journalists promote censorship of unpleasant truths, inhibiting the search for truth in the name of good.

[From article]
Colin Flaherty, author of “White Girl Bleed A Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It,” told WND his channel was suspended for two weeks after he posted a video featuring violence by African-Americans against white children. Flaherty also posted a video of what the author called “black mob violence against a white child.”
“Soon after, YouTube yanked it down: It said it had received complaints that I had violated the YouTube policy against posting ‘shocking, sensational or disrespectful’ videos, especially involving ‘minors participating in a harmful or dangerous activity,’” he told WND. “So YouTube kicked me off for two weeks, though my channel remains open and subscriptions have jumped dramatically.”[. . .]
“White children and adults around the country are victims of black mob violence and black on white crime that is wildly out of proportion. And reporters and public officials ignore, deny, condone, excuse, encourage and even lie about it. That’s what I call ‘shocking.’
[. . .]

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a civil rights activist, president and founder of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND), and author of “Scam: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America,” said: “The conservative white politicians and media are afraid to discuss black crime due to the fear of being attacked as racist. The white and black liberals won’t discuss it because they want the races to remain divided so they can continue with their agenda of redistributing wealth and taking from whites to give to minorities.”

[. . .]
Peterson believes there is never a good reason not to report black crime, even if such reports are exploited by white racists. He told WND, “Not talking about black crime is allowing the problem to get worse because blacks don’t believe they’re wrong about anything.”
Yet there are increasing efforts by both major media companies and the federal government to manage and possibly even censor the national conversation.
[. . .]

Peterson suggests the government may indeed try to weaken the First Amendment and control public debate.
“We have a dishonest president and government right now and they’re trying to stop anyone who is exposing what they’re doing. This administration uses the IRS and other federal agencies to intimidate and bully American citizens. And what will happen is it will drive the conversation underground and shut down other points of views from getting out to the general public,” he said.

Abusing Copyright Laws For Censorship

[From article]
But now Correa has gone international. He’s using phony copyright claims to force American companies such as YouTube and Google to remove videos and documents that criticize his government.
Last month, more than 140 videos posted by Chevron abruptly vanished from YouTube, replaced by notices that said they were yanked due to copyright-infringement claims by a Spanish video-distribution company called Filmin.
[. . .]
But YouTube, like many Internet companies, doesn’t want to get dragged into a potentially expensive and time-consuming lawsuit over somebody else’s copyrights. So it simply took down Chevron’s videos without investigating Filmin’s claim.
[. . .]
If Correa is willing to mess with a $200 billion corporation on the Internet, then he’s certainly not going to hesitate to mess with you.
[. . .]
blogger Steinbaugh. “This abuse is growing. Any person or corporation can misuse this law to punish someone who criticizes them. It’s a real weakness in the law, which offers no incentive for Internet companies to question copyright-infringement claims, no matter how doubtful they are.”

During the few years I posted videos on YouTube, persons claiming to be the "copyright holder" filed complaints with YouTube alleging violations. Under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act, if the provider (YouTube) takes down a video, the poster can appeal. YouTube notifies the "copyright holder" of the appeal. The "copyright holder" has 10 days to go to court to file a complaint. If they do not YouTube must repost the video. It is an inconvenience but it does weed out the fake claims and claimants. After a few months of such complaints I learned it was a Boston Police officer who was making the fake claims. YouTube does not investigate the claimants to ensure they are legitimate.

Michelle Malkin's Website Shut By Facebook

Twitchy, is Michelle Malkins' web site. That happened to me four times when a Boston Police officer who was allegedly protecting drug dealers kept filing complaints with YouTube to shut me down. I had to keep appealing through their system to get my account opened up. The state finally arrested that cop, and the complaints stopped. He was pretending to be the copyright holder and claiming that I violated the copyrights. It shows how easy it is to censor anyone. The electronic systems do not have an easy way to object or to appeal. There are no due process protections on the social media sites.

Fair Use Abuse

Aufderheide's essay on Fair Use does not mention the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998. (Patricia Aufderheide, "Copywrong," CJR, July/August 2012, Page 36) DMCA summary here
http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf

The Berkman Center has an extensive discussion
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/events/luncheon/2007/04/seltzer

of how it works, and why it is flawed. There were no users at the conferences when the law was written, somewhat like Obamacare. It has a three-pronged test. But it is easy for providers to abuse it's intent. YouTube e.g., only requires a complaint of a violation by "the copyright holder." They do not verify that the complaint is actually from him or her. One Boston cop filed numerous complaints about my legal postings, pretending to be the "copyright holder," and caused me a lot of trouble until he was arrested. The automatic takedown can be undone by filing a defense claim i.e., that Fair Use or other notion permits use. The alleged copyright holder has ten days to file a lawsuit. If not the item goes back up automatically.

One problem with many providers is that they are clueless about the notion of Fair Use. One author of a video editing book supported by Apple Computers has comments barred from Apple Discussions about Fair Use, due to ignorance. He is an expert on the video program but is clueless about the law. At one Cable Access TV station (Cambridge MA) the entire management was clueless about Fair Use and warned everyone about using any part of another's audio or video. Wouldn't it be helpful if at least the management understood the laws protecting expression? Aufderheide's essay shows Fair Use law is extended beyond the legal limits in good and bad ways.

Homosexuals Censor YouTube Video About Harvey Milk

One of three major special interest groups is exposed for censoring a YouTube video about Harvey Milk. They claim to be victims but actually have enormous influence in the United States. They were able to have the Supreme Court of the US legalize an act that was prohibited for 5,000 years in secular and religious laws -- sodomy. Homosexuals run the FBI, and the state governments in Massachusetts, and Washington State. They run the city government in San Francisco and in Cambridge MA. They run the state court systems in Vermont. Whenever anyone criticizes homosexuals the person is attacked mercilessly as a hater. The most recent abuse by homosexuals is to target campaign contributors to Mitt Romney's campaign. Free Expression is guaranteed by the First Amendment. Yet homosexual supporters of Obama thwart the political process. They did that with people who contributed money to the campaign in California to ban same sex marriage. Clearly these homosexual thugs do not support the US Constitution. They exploit the privileges and rights of the country to impose their will on others. They have no respect for the First Amendment rights of others. They are simply political hooligans a bit more civilized than Genghis Khan.

YouTube Removes Pro-Israeli Video

This article verifies my assertion that YouTube removes videos alleging copyright violations when there are none. I've had this happen to me many times. My YouTube account was closed for about six months due to false allegations of copyright violations. Fair Use Doctrine is established law but too many people in the video business are unaware of the protections. At one TV station I worked at the management was clueless about Fair Use Doctrine. One expert on a video editing programs is as clueless as the TV executive. For information on Copyright see

Coming Obama Thugocracy

Coming Obama Thugocracy

This is another recognition of the widespread censorship of limousine liberals who support Obama.

http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/13/the-coming-thugocracy/print/

Critics are called racist and liars or both. One of his supporters has been monitoring my blog posts calling me names on my own blog (See entry about the Frank Rich column below). My video entries on YouTube and Google Video are flagged as copyright violations. He or she complains to YouTube and Google video alleging copyright violations. Then Google flags the targeted video and shuts it. YouTube closed my account permanently. I appealed asserting Fair Use Doctrine which permits use of pieces of material with editorial comment. No response from Google or YouTube. A non profit Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in Massachusetts refused to give me access to any lawyer though I paid their application fees. They said they would refund my fee but would not assign any attorney. This comes after I sent out messages about the extensive connection between Obama and Bill Ayers, and between Obama's and Ayer's wives. One liberal talk show host in Boston screamed at me on air and cut me off when I began listing the connections. He asked, "If it is true why isn't it being reported?" Duh! Hasn't he heard about media bias and censorship? See e.g., Tim Mahoney married Democratic Florida Congressmen and his affair with an employee he fired.
