French Diplomats Support Palestinian Terror Attacks On Israelis

[From article]
a group of eleven prominent French ambassadors published an appeal in Le Monde on February 3, 2016, urging Paris and Brussels to "save the Palestinian state."
[. . .]
The authors are veteran diplomats with over 200 years of collective experience and, supposedly, a broad knowledge of history, law, and politics.
And yet, should we laugh at this torrent of insanity or cry at the degenerate state of French political postures, divorced from rational thought, built on an inverted sense of justice and distorted legal and historical facts?
[. . .]
The persistent pattern of condemnation of Israel, in total disregard of the provisions of international law, is nothing new. In the aftermath of the Mavi Marmara incident of May 2010, virtually the whole world found Israel guilty before proven guilty. The United Nations and its agencies; the European Union and most of its member-states (with the welcome exception of the Czech Republic); the media at large; and, it goes without saying, the whole Arab/Muslim world found Israel in breach of international law following the boarding of the Turkish vessel. But when the U.N. released its final report in September 2011, and Israel was largely exonerated on the grounds that it "complied with the requirements of international law," we heard no retraction from the horde of accusers.
[. . .]
But we should remember that among Western nations, French institutions are often the most sluggish in recognizing their past mistakes. It took almost a century for the French military establishment to publicly admit, on September 7, 1995, that there was indeed a "military conspiracy" against Captain Alfred Dreyfus.
The France I loved and admired in my school days is long gone.

Ex-United Nations President, Four Others Charged With Major Bribery

[From article]

U.S. authorities charged a former president of the United Nations General Assembly, a billionaire Macau real estate developer and four others on Tuesday for engaging in a wide-ranging corruption scheme.
John Ashe, a former U.N. ambassador from Antigua and Barbuda who was general assembly president from 2013 to 2014, was accused in a complaint filed in federal court in New York of taking more than $1.3 million in bribes from Chinese businessmen, including developer Ng Lap Seng.
[. . .]

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is "shocked and deeply troubled" by the allegations, said his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric. The U.N. had not previously been informed of the probe, Dujarric said, but would cooperate if contacted.
The case followed the Sept. 19 arrest of Ng, 68, and an assistant, Jeff Yin, 29, for falsely claiming that $4.5 million they brought into the United States from China from 2013 to 2015 was meant for gambling or buying art, antiques or real estate.

According to the complaint, Ng, through intermediaries, paid Ashe more than $500,000 for telling the U.N. secretary general that a yet-to-be built multibillion-dollar U.N.-sponsored conference center in Macau was needed.
[. . .]

The unnamed non-profit matches the description of the Global Sustainability Foundation. And while the complaint did not name the prime minister, Baldwin Spencer held the post at the time.
The foundation and Antigua and Barbuda's mission to the United Nations did not respond to requests for comment. Spencer could not be reached.
The complaint said Ashe solicited bribes in various forms, including payments to cover a family vacation to New Orleans and the construction of a $30,000 basketball court at his house in Dobbs Ferry, New York, the complaint said.
From 2012 to 2014, more than $3 million from foreign governments and individuals was deposited in bank accounts controlled by Ashe, who spent the money on his mortgage, BMW lease payments and Rolex watches, the complaint said.
The complaint only charged Ashe with tax offenses, which it said are not covered by any diplomatic immunity he enjoys.

[. . .]
Ng's name previously surfaced in U.S. investigations into how foreign money might have been funneled into the Democratic National Committee before the 1996 elections, when it was working to re-elect President Bill Clinton.

White House Seeks To Normalize Relations With Cuba

[From article]
Restoration of relations would be the latest phase in a normalization process, which is expected to move slowly because of lingering problems over issues such as Cuba's human rights record. A U.S. embargo will remain in place, and only Congress can lift it.
The sources said the administration hoped to formally notify Congress within the next two weeks of its intention to reopen the Havana embassy. The State Department is required by law to give Congress at least 15 days' notice of such an action.

White House Snubs Israeli Defense Minister Visting in Washington DC

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon

[From article]
While Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon did see Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, the officials said the White House and State Department rejected Israeli proposals for meetings with Vice President Joe Biden, national security adviser Susan Rice and Kerry on his five-day trip to the United States. The administration had sought to stop Ya'alon from seeing Power but the objections were made too late to cancel the meeting, according to the officials.

U.S. Evacuates $750 million Iraqi Baghdad Embassy

[From article]
The embassy is within Baghdad's Green Zone and has up to 5,500 personnel, making it the largest U.S. diplomatic post in the world.
[. . .]
The $750 million embassy is the largest in the world, and boasts amenities for staff that include a six-lane swimming pool, regulation-size basketball court and what Business Insider described recently as a "palatial dining room."
It is completely self-contained with its own power supply, well water and sewage treatment. It is only 3/10ths of an acres smaller than Vatican City and is surrounded by blast walls to protect those inside from attack.

Indian Diplomat Arrested, Strip Searched

[From article]
The row follows the arrest last week in New York of Devyani Khobragade, India’s deputy consul general in the city, who has been accused of visa fraud and of making false statements on an application for her housekeeper to work for her in the US.
Indian officials said she was arrested and handcuffed last Thursday as she dropped off her daughter at school, then strip-searched and kept in a cell with drug addicts before posting $250,000 bail.
[. . .]
A senior member of India’s main opposition party said India should arrest gay partners of US diplomats living in India.
[. . .]
He added: “Now, after the Supreme Court ruling, it is completely illegal in our country. Just as paying less wages was illegal in the US. So, why doesn’t the government of India go ahead and arrest all of them?”

The Indian Government could also argue selective enforcement of laws. Obama and Holder enforce laws capriciously and arbitrarily. Like Harvard University they promote laws as optional. Inconvenient laws may be ignored. These charges should be dismissed.

US Ambassador in Libya Killed

Christopher Stevens, U.S. ambassador to Libya, was killed during an attack on the consulate in Benghazi. (Handout / September 12, 2012)

[From article]
"Better security would not have stopped this," said Adel Ibrahim, the owner of the accommodation building where blood is now spattered beneath a hole smashed in a wall by a heavy projectile. "A security unit is fine if you are facing 10 persons, but there were 400 attackers. [The Americans] would have needed an army to stop them."

Diplomat Tries to Light Up In Flight

This diplomat allegedly tried to have a cigarette in the bathroom. When confronted he joked that he was trying to light up his shoe. Two jets scrambled. FBI said no charges would be filed. What about the cost of the jets? Is this one more example of no accountability for upper class elitist people?
