A knife-wielding man has been shot dead by police after he burst into a Brooklyn synagogue and stabbed an Israeli student in the head while shouting: 'Kill the Jews!'
Calvin Peters, 51, stormed into the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic world headquarters in Crown Heights at about 1.40am on Tuesday and attacked Levi Rosenblat, who was studying inside the synagogue.
Rosenblat, who is in stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in the temple, only arrived in the U.S. two weeks ago, the New York Daily News reported.
Witnesses heard the man saying 'Kill the Jews' repeatedly and several other people immediately intervened, said Chaim Landa, a spokeswoman for Chabad-Lubavitch.
A witness flagged down a patrol officer, who confronted the stabber and told him to put the knife down. He initially put it down, but picked it up again, police said.
More officers responded and repeatedly ordered the man to drop the knife.
He refused and, with the knife in his hand, charged at one of the officers, who fired once, striking the man in the torso, police said. Police said no other officers discharged their weapons.

Here's another victim of the psychiatric industry. After taking the recommended psychiatric drug this man stopped his treatment and became a dangerous violent person. If stopping taking the medicine causes humans to become violent, why start? It is not as if the pharmaceutical industry is unaware of this pattern of violence. They choose to ignore it and continue to medicate civilians who frequently become violent and dangerous. When will these enablers, the psychiatrists of the nation be held accountable for facilitating homicides?

The disturbed man who was shot to death by police at a Brooklyn synagogue had planned to play soccer with his sons on Monday — but a bi-polar episode sent him on a violent rampage instead, his brother told The Post.
Calvin Peters, 49 — who stabbed a 22-year-old man at Chad-Lubavitch headquarters in Crown Heights on early Tuesday — flipped out because he had stopped taking his medication, said the brother, Glen Peters, 53.
“I spoke to him on the phone [Monday]… I knew something was wrong right away because he was acting very strange. He told me he was hanging out in Brooklyn. That was definitely wrong because he never goes to Brooklyn,” Peters said.
“He was afraid and paranoid and ill. You could tell he was mental…He just needed to be back on his medication. He needed to be restrained and go to a hospital so he could go back to normal,” he said.

Peters had 19 prior arrests for charges including larceny, possession of controlled substance, using a credit card that wasn’t his, contempt of court and burglary.
But he wasn’t always a bad guy, his brother said. He was diagnosed with mental illness in 1982 after his life began to spiral out of control.

Calvin Peters, 50, had walked into the basement of the synagogue where people were praying, sources said.
According to police sources, Peters asked for a copy of the Bible, then briefly walked out, sources said.
He returned and stabbed a an Israeli student in the side of the head for an unknown reason.

After several demands from the officer, Peters then puts the knife down on a table and puts his hands up, prompting the officer to holster his gun.
It appeared as if the encounter had been defused. But Peters is seen suddenly grabing the knife again, prompting the officer to shout “Stay the f–k away from the knife now.”
Other officers then appear in the video as Peters storms around brandishing the knife. Then, moments later, a single shot is heard, after the camera turns away from the chaotic incident.
Sources said one of the officers fired one round into Peter’s body, killing him.
