"Councilor Marc McGovern said the city should reach out to folks in shelters and other support programs to discuss programs for homeless people and those struggling with addiction." (Sara Feijo, "Cleaning up Central Square: Growing concern over public drinking, drug use, fights," June 12, 2014, CAMBRIDGE Chronicle) Politicians should stop wasting other people's money paying deep pocketed academic consultants to study homelessness. Instead use the money they waste to place these people into housing. It would solve a lot of problems. Take one half of each councilor's salary and one half of the city managers, deputy and assistant city managers' salaries to equalize income. Use the money to house homeless persons. That would be a start.
