Police Arrest Woman Taking Video on Her Own Property

[Letter sent to Rochester NY Public Officials on June 21, 2011]
Hello Rochester Public officials,

Rochester Police officer Mario Masic arrested a woman, Emily Good on May 11, 2011. She was video recording the actions of your officers in the course of their duties near her home. She was standing on her own property. Mr. Masic is not the only officer to abuse his power in violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution and New York state laws, when encountering citizen journalists. At best this is an example of negligent training of your officers.

There are many recent cases of state courts and US courts which reaffirm the right of citizens to record police officers in the conduct of their duties.

The best disinfectant for government abuses is sunshine. Your officers join government criminals who keep their abuses hidden. Here is a link to a video of the incident in case you have not seen it yet.
