Misguided Task Force Focused on Money

The recommendations of the "task force" indicates that it was dominated by business interests, not security professionals. The expansion of facilities where criminals are treated as if they are mental patients shows that it is all about money. Criminals belong in jail not in hospitals. Persons accused of mental illness are mostly harmless persons accused of speaking or behaving in a way that psychiatrists do not like or do not understand. Criminal acts are defined by statute. Mental illnesses are made up by consensus. The longer that criminals are treated as mental patients the more violence will be experienced by well-meaning human services workers who want to help others. Stop the harm of innocents. Separate criminals from patients.

[From article]
"The task force on Thursday released a set of 17 recommendations that they said would improve the safety of workers at state facilities.
Among the recommendations is a significant increase in mental health spending over the next five years and an increase in the number of beds and services."
