FBI Changes Its Surveillance Rules

The statement by the FBI justifying its open season on anyone fits perfectly with the current administration's view of laws being optional, and the Constitution being an ancient no longer valid document. The current US Attorney General openly exercises his power based on racial profiling. Egregious criminal abuses are committed by FBI informants including but not limited to computer hacking. The Hoover paradigm of being the arsonist and the fire chief remains the preferred pattern of FBI activity.

[From article]
"Valerie E. Caproni, the FBI general counsel, said the bureau had fixed the problems with the national security letters and had taken steps to make sure they would not recur. She also said the bureau — which does not need permission to alter its manual so long as the rules fit within broad guidelines issued by the attorney general — had carefully weighed the risks and the benefits of each change."
