Palin Polls Make No Sense

Palin Polls Make No Sense

This essay makes sense only to poll takers. Without knowing the questions how can the results have any meaning? Bailey says, "Two polls released in the last several days suggest Palin might not be in good shape should she seek the GOP presidential nomination." That depends upon what being "in good shape" means. Palin said she was tired of personal attacks on her family. Having a respite may have improved her "shape."

Bailey says, "Palin’s strength has always been her appeal to the GOP base." Oh? And what about her genuineness? That is what many people admire about her. Towing the party line will alienate that base.

Suggesting "the big unknown is whether Palin can change what the public already thinks about her and regain ground" presupposes that Bailey knows what "the public" thinks. How does she know that? From polls?
