No History of Mental Illness?

Police and prosecutors often reveal "a history of mental illness" at arrests and arraignments. Their sources are usually suspect in view of the prohibition of the HIPAA laws. But even if their sources are legal what is the connection at arraignments? It is only to discredit the suspect and to slur all persons accused of mental illness. In this case "Police said the attacker [. . .] had no criminal record or history of mental illness." This suggests that if there were it would explain why the suspect drove his car toward the royal couple. But it does not explain why the New York Post and other media reported this fact. Perhaps it shows that journalists have a negative stereotype of persons with disabilities and discriminate toward them as they would never do toward persons of color, homosexuals and women.
