NPR Celebrates Public Benefits Recipient As Success Story

[From article]
Listen to this NPR podcast. They are so proud of it that they re-posted it:
Meet a single mother who makes $16,000 a year and managed to fund a vacation at a Caribbean resort with an interest-free loan from one of the world's largest banks.
The report goes on: an abusive husband; her kid tells how much fun he had playing with dolphins at that resort. Meanwhile, pretty much all her expenses – child care, medical care, food, air conditioning, etc. – are taken care of by the government.
And she thanks God! (How about thanking American taxpayers?)
She declares she has never taken welfare! (She does not consider any of the above “welfare” even though our taxes pay for it.) And she talks about coming to America in 1997 and then talks about going back to “her country” for a visit and tells the interviewer to go to “my country” and see how life is there.
She also mentions taxpayer money going to pay for nails being done.
Taxpayer-funded NPR has the gall to say she "may be the single most successful and productive beneficiary of government assistance you'll ever meet."

NPR Michigan Refuses Donor's On Air Message "Happy Birthday Israel."

[From article]
Lisa Lis of Oakland County was pleased when she got a message in April from Michigan Radio, a statewide public radio group operated by the University of Michigan. It said because she had donated at least $365, she could sponsor a day's broadcast and have a message read on air six times
Lis, a self-proclaimed progressive and strong supporter of Israel, whose husband is Israeli and whose son is in the Israeli Defense Forces, wanted her message to celebrate Israel. Eventually she settled on "Happy 68th Birthday Israel." Israel celebrates Independence Day this year on May 12.
Initially, "blessing" was in her message, but the station said that implied something religious, so she dropped that word. Then the station said it couldn't accommodate the wish because it needed two months' notice.
Then the station rejected the message outright. Alison Warren, associate director of development, wrote in an April 26 email:
Dear Lisa,
We will not be able to air your day sponsorship message as written.
We have determined that this message would compromise the station's commitment to impartiality and that it crosses over into advocacy, or could imply advocacy.
If there is another message, perhaps celebrating a birthday or anniversary of an individual, please let me know and I'd be happy to assist you.
"I'm very upset," said Lis, a daughter of Florine Marks of Weight Watchers' fame. "It’s sad. There's plenty anti-Israel messages out there, and they won't allow something for Israel." Lis said she and her husband, Hannan Lis, donate $40 per month.
[. . .]

Last Friday, Lis took it to the next level, writing about the conflict in a weekly newsletter emailed to about 1,000 people.
I am in a battle with Michigan Radio to use my Day Sponsorship to wish Israel Happy 68th birthday. They denied my request because they said it would "compromise the station's commitment to impartiality and that it crosses over into advocacy".
Why would Public Radio need to be impartial about a legally recognized country other than the fact, many want her wiped from the face of the earth. Would it be a problem if it were the birthday of England, Norway or South Sudan?
Israel is a hot button country that the world has accepted as questionable and debatable and the major infraction Israel has committed is purely her existence. By the way, I truly look forward to expressing my same salutation when Palestine can celebrate her birthday.
[. . .]
Steve Schram, executive director and general manager, responded Monday:
The current request was denied because it doesn’t meet our day sponsorship policies, which state “typical messages honor an individual’s birthday, anniversary, retirement, graduation, or other personal event.”
In accordance with our rules governing donor acknowledgments, announcements containing political or religious messages are not acceptable This was shared with the donor.
This policy is not unique to this station and is similar to other public radio stations across the country.

White Husband of NPR Researcher Beaten By Black Gang on Washington DC Metro

Same pattern employed with all the victim groups. PR flacks publish propaganda, in venues of useful idiots. Upper classes remain immune from street violence, and provide cover for dividing ordinary voters and taxpayers into fighting factions. George Soros provides funds for PR flacks and street organizers of mass protests. These events are not spontaneous.

[From article]
[Lori] Kaplan is the Senior Director of Audience Research at NPR in downtown Washington, D.C. That is where she regularly meets her husband at the end of his evening commute on the Metro Red Line.
That is what she was recently doing when she received a text message from him: An “idiot gang” was acting belligerently in his train car, so he was going to move.
That was the last she heard from him until he got off the train: bloody, beaten, and dazed. With a broken jaw and missing teeth.
[. . .]
The reporter, a former NPR correspondent, either did not know or did not think it was important to include a description of the “idiot gang.”
Hundreds of readers of the story thought it was important -- and many mentioned their own experiences with black on white violence on the D.C. Metro.
The attackers of Kaplan’s husband were black -- as are virtually all of the violent predators on the Washington Metro. A fact the Post and NPR keep trying to ignore and wish away, even as they devote more and more space to Black Lives Matter and the omnipresence of white racism.
[. . .]
The reporter was upholding a longstanding tradition at the Post -- which at NPR is an ironclad rule -- not to report on the epidemic of black on white crime and black mob violence in Washington or anywhere else.
Or only to dismiss it as some kind of right wing talking point, if somehow race does sneak into the coverage.
[. . .]
as everyone understands, everyone who does not listen to NPR is racist and bigot.
And that is why they are supporting Donald Trump.
[. . .]
Despite these and thousands of other racial references every year on NPR, there is never any pushback. Not one host or guest asking “really?”
Not one news reader mentioning, however timidly, the enormous gap between black and white crime rates. The enormous black on white hostility that is now mainstream.
The enormous number of victims of black on white crime and violence.
The Kaplan family is far from the first family to see their carefully constructed make-believe world of relentless black victimization burst apart with a shocking dose of violence and reality.
Last year, David Ruenzel was living a life of white privilege as an Oakland schoolteacher. He knew better than most what that term meant: He helped invent it as a writer for the Southern Poverty Law Center.
While exercising his white privilege on a remote hiking trail in Oakland, several black people killed him.

“There’s a lot of great work being done,” said Seabrook. “I think the problem is the Congress itself. And we’re all in the same positions, scrambling to figure out how the hell to cover these a*sholes.”

Is Huffington Post NPR?

[From updated article]
[This attempted censorship is reportedly what started the interchange.] "Breitbart reacted to a campaign by activist group Color of Change that demanded that he not be featured on The Huffington Post’s front page. The organization called Breitbart “a liar and a race-baiter” and threatened that blacks would not visit the site if his content was prominently featured."

[From Article]
"Breitbart called Jones, who resigned from his position in the Obama administration following a series of revelations, including that he had once signed a 9-11 “truther” petition, ”a cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak. And a commie. And an eco-fraudster.”
[. . .]
The decision has yielded criticism from several online bloggers. “I’m disappointed and annoyed to see The Huffington Post buckling under a pressure campaign,” wrote David Weigel of Slate. “A strict prohibition on ad hominem attacks! (‘Against Arianna’s friends,’ is the big of that sentence that spokesman Marco Ruiz left out),” wrote Alex Pareene of Salon.
Breitbart is far from the first prominently featured contributor to The Huffington Post that has made ad hominem attacks (though unlike others who had their ad hominem attacks published in posts on The Huffington Post, Breitbart’s comments were not made in posts on the site)."

Juan Williams and Psychiatry

Here is another example of how politicians and journalists use psychiatry to discredit people. Where is the NAMI alleged anti stigma campaign when there is a national example of psychiatric abuses to be addressed? It is not just the fascist leftists who do this. Conservative politicians and journalists do the same. It also shows how everyone can make psychiatric diagnoses. Who needs psychiatrists if everyone can diagnose mental illness?

I'm a great fan of Malkin's courage, standing up to the thuggery of Alex Jones who menaced her at one event. But even Michelle Malkin whose writings I love did it in a recent column referring to "tin hat" wearers. In "tolerant" Cambridge MA, Harvard professors, FBI informants and liberal activists, regularly ridicule and humiliate candidates for office and activists whose opinions they dislike, as mentally ill.

Boston's PBS station refuses to air programs exposing institutionalized bias against persons with disabilities. Not only do they ignore my years of petitions to Emily Rooney (daughter of 60 Minute's Andy Rooney) and WGBH's President to air such programs, but they threatened me with censorship because of my complaints about their unlawful bias. WGBH-TV also receives millions of taxpayer dollars annually.

Cambridge's local cable access station (which gets about $1 million a year from City government) is run by the same kind of fascists as the team at NPR. The management of Cambridge Community TV harasses and suspends people whose political opinions they dislike. They apply discrimination laws unequally and allow abuses of white hetero males by black racists, women and homosexuals. It is how liberals operate. Laws for me but not for thee.

[From article]
"Upon summarily firing Williams for violating the public radio station's "editorial standards," NPR CEO Vivian Schiller appeased the leftist mob by shamelessly attacking Williams' mental health. At an Atlanta Press Club event, the former CNN and New York Times executive said Williams "should have kept his feeling about Muslims between himself and 'his psychiatrist or his publicist.'"

Malkin quotes Thomas Jefferson on using other people's money to fund speech they oppose. Isn't that what unions and non profit organizations do?

[From article]
Thomas Jefferson famously opined: "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
[. . .]
Not one more red cent of public money should go to NPR, PBS and CPB. Let the speech-squelching progressives and jihadi-whitewashing apologists pay for their own propaganda."

Good Money for Goodwin
Source: New York Times, November 21, 2008

Psychiatrist Frederick K. Goodwin, who hosts a popular show on National Public Radio called "The Infinite Mind," earned "at least $1.3 million from 2000 to 2007 giving marketing lectures for drug makers income not mentioned on the program," reports Gardiner Harris. This revelation and other news about Goodwin's consulting work makes him "the latest in a series of doctors and researchers whose ties to drug makers have been uncovered by Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa. ... Mr. Grassley is systematically asking some of the nation's leading researchers and doctors to provide their conflict-of-interest disclosures, and he is comparing those documents with records of actual payments from drug companies. The records often conflict, sometimes starkly." Goodwin claims he informed his program's producer, Bill Lichtenstein, of his consulting work for drug companies, a claim that Lichtenstein strongly denies.
