This essay presents a false choice between terrorism and victims of hate. It is propaganda. The "small" number (estimated at 13 percent of Muslims or 195 million) supports violence to implement Sharia Law. A larger number prefers Sharia Law to secular law, e.g., the US Constitution. Unmentioned is the 1400 year violent struggle between Sunni and Shiite sects of Islam. Or the Koranic instructions to kill infidels, e.g., Jews, Hindus and Christians. Unmentioned is in 45 Muslim dominant countries, Christians, Jews, Buddhists and Hindus are not tolerated as Muslims are tolerated in the United States, by dominant Christians. The Jewish dominant nation of Israel tolerates Muslims. The essay asks "is it the correct option to isolate all Muslims, stigmatize them, and goad them toward radicalization, as some of the presidential wannabes seem to be doing?" The argument is to temporarily stop Muslim migration to the US not to isolate all Muslims. Do US presidential candidates have any influence on policy in Muslim dominant nations? There is no right to immigrate. More propaganda. Admitted is the inability to distinguish violent Muslims from non violent Muslims. No religious leaders in Israel or in Europe call for the deaths of a nation or a religion.

There are no Jewish or Christian religious leaders who call for mass murder of Muslims. But there are Muslim religious leaders in many nations even in western nations that granted them asylum who demand that Jews, Christians and Americans be killed, and that Israel be destroyed. Why is the focus on discrimination, but not against death threats and stirring up religious hatred in Muslim dominant countries' state schools? Evidence of propaganda is describing Ayaan Hirsi Ali as an Islamophobe. She opposes Sharia law which brutalizes women. The misguided argument is that a small group of people who say they are Muslims, kill, rape and maim Americans, Christians and Jews. But when victims of death threats and violence, speak out against the violence, they are denigrated as haters. Huh? Should they say instead, "Thank you sir. May I have another?" The argument omits the concept of national security, which the Saudis use to prohibit immigration of Muslims to their Muslim dominant nation. The United States does not have an obligation to commit suicide to avoid hurting the feelings of some people because others want to kill Americans. As for bias crimes, the number of bias crimes against Jews in the US is larger than those against Muslims.

Unless a clear distinction is made between the orthodox religion of Islam and the demonic cults such as Al Qaeda, ISIS, etc., that choose to usurp its legitimacy, there is the risk of alienating every misinformed or anxious American as an Islamophobe, thereby playing into the hands of the terrorists.
