How To Become A Judge in Massachusetts

[From article]
Our next judge and Mrs. Wall both maxed out to
Deval in 2005, donating $500 each. Ditto, 2006. And 2007. And 2008. Mrs. Wall maxed out in 2009 and then in 2010 they both maxed out again.
What more qualifications do you need to be a judge in Massachusetts?

The vote in the Governor’s Council this afternoon may be close. It may come down to Oliver Cippolini, the lame-duck Cape councilor who was defeated in the primary last month.
“I’m going for him!” Cippolini said yesterday. “He’s running a tight ship at the Parole Board and I don’t give a damn what (Councilor Robert) Jubinville says about me looking for a state job.”
[. . .]
“If I’d stuck around,” he said, “do you know I’d be looking at a pension of just under $80,000?”
Spoken like someone who’s interested in a job.
