Psychiatry Is an Abuse Not A Solution

Here's more irrational public policy promoted by the spouse of a victim of violence. There is a greater nexus between gun violence and rashes than with accusations of mental illness. Hitler and Stalin used psychiatry to silence criticism and dissent. Now in the name of ending violence this misguided spouse wants more psychiatry in the US. Why not open medical records of persons with a history of STDs and rashes to check for likelihood of gun violence? It makes as much sense. But seldom does common sense have a role in making policy. Especially with a President with talent for making speeches but lacking governing ability. Making policy using fear and emotions does not make good laws. As Henry Louis Mencken observed, "First they pass laws against the S.O.B.s and then they use them against the rest of us. Opening medical records will have no good results and will not reduce violent crime. Psychiatry is a drug company driven business. It is not a solution to violence.
