Equal Rights for Some

Equal Rights for Some

"Our state ... ought to be in the business of encouraging fair and
equitable laws that don't discriminate," said Sen. Cynthia Stone
Creem. (Scott Sayare, "OUT-OF-STATE SAME-SEX COUPLES TO WED IN MASS.,
SOON?" Boston Weekly Dig, July 23, 2008) Senator Creem and the
homosexual lobby say equal rights for all but they mean all
homosexuals. Persons with disabilities are denied marriage in Mass
(M.G.L. Chapter 207, Sec. 16). Some persons cannot marry the person
they choose in Mass (M.G.L. Chapter 207, Sec. 1, 2 and 4) Why is it
that upper class interest groups get equal rights while vulnerable
persons are denied their basic rights? Sen. Creem shows her ignorance,
her bigotry or both by her comments on repealing this law. If the
issue were equal rights many laws especially M.G.L. Chapter 123 would
be declared null and void.
