Karamouz, who was born in Iran but became a US citizen in 2001, is suing for unspecified damages.
The professor brought his complaint to the state Division of Human Rights but the agency dismissed his case, finding Karamouz violated Labor Department laws regarding meal breaks and pay, and had created a “hostile work environment” for his staff.
“Professor Karamouz’s contract was not renewed because of his own conduct as an employee. Just as with his previous baseless claims, NYU is confident that we will prevail in this meritless case,” spokesman Matt Nagel said.
Karamouz lost his state complaint because he went in without a lawyer and “failed to put forward many of his most persuasive facts,” attorney Vincent White said.

While UAE might appear relatively secular to outsiders, the truth is that the nation is still ruled by Sharia law. Don’t be fooled by the word “law.” The law of the US Constitution serves to protect individuals and their freedom, the law of Sharia serves to control individuals and limit their freedoms.

Mesmerized by the glory of having their institutions be the first to break into the Middle East, NYU and Guggenheim did little independent due diligence. They bought into the illusion that the UAE, with its man-made islands and skyscraper hotels, is a free country.
Of course, money is the primary motive for this ignorance.

Palestinian Activists Prank Jewish Students At NYU

A pro-Palestinian NYU group targeted Jewish classmates with threatening “eviction” notices that were slid under dorm-room doors in the dead of night, students said Thursday.
“If you do not vacate the premise by midnight on 25 April, 2014 we reserve the right to destroy all remaining belongings. We cannot be held responsible for property or persons remaining inside the premises,” read the notices, which were delivered by members of the Students for Justice in Palestine.
