Cambridge Fire Department Saves MIT Dorm, No Injuries

[From article]
A fire broke out this Tuesday afternoon on the roof of Random Hall dormitory at 282 Mass. Ave. on the MIT campus, forcing an evacuation of the building. No injuries were reported in the two-alarm fire, and by 3:35 p.m. firefighters had knocked it down, according to safety officials.
Massachusetts Avenue between Albany and Sidney streets was closed for some time, which caused heavy traffic, according to police.
Random Hall is MIT's smallest dormitory, providing housing for 93 residents.

University of Iowa Brings Back Racial Segregated Dorms

[From article]
Progressivism is coming full circle with the arrival of racial segregation in the student dormitories at the University of Iowa.
At the dawn of progressivism, eugenics was meant to improve the human race by discouraging “inferior” races from reproducing, as Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger intended. The founding generation of progs had no difficulty identifying who those inferiors were, either: blacks, Asians, and basically anybody that wasn’t like the people in charge in the United States a century and more ago. Progressive President Woodrow Wilson introduced segregation to the armed services.
All of this was held up as an effort to improve society. And now, the same motivations are at work in progressive citadels like the University of Iowa.
[. . .]
In an effort to improve its recruitment and retention of minority students, the University of Iowa is planning to offer a new living-learning community this fall that is open only to students who identify as black or African-American.
[. . .]
Yes, “identity-based community” sounds much better than “racially segregated dormitory.” And of course, as bigots always say, "it's for their own good."

Suspected Rape Hoax at University of Minnesota

[From article]
Last weekend, an 18-year-old student at the school had told campus police that two young men who were complete strangers raped her at knifepoint in her fourth-floor dorm room.
[. . .]
Campus rape hoaxes are common across America. The most famous one of recent vintage is disgraced Rolling Stone reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s wildly inaccurate article, “A Rape On Campus.”
Other twisted, totally false and astonishing rape hoaxes have been proffered over the years by female college students. In each case, the cruel hoaxes were initially accepted as true. In some cases, real lives were ruined.

Swastikas Appear in George Washington University Dorm

[From article]
In February, several swastikas were painted on the walls inside a GWU dorm which houses a group of sororities and fraternities.
A few weeks later, another swastika ended up on a bulletin board belonging to a Jewish fraternity. That incident, though, proved to be a hoax.
Regardless, the incidents surprised and dismayed many, prompting the Student Association Senate to act.
“Moving forward, this resolution would encourage the university to take a more active approach not only to prevent instances, but also make sure we can increase the safety of our students that live in residence halls,” Sen. Thomas Falcigno, CCAS-U, said.
After the first incident, the school added a security camera in the lobby of International House, but the Student Senate wants more.

“He walked into the girl’s room and climbed into her bed naked. He covered himself up with the blankets. Security was notified. A security officer came to the room and the kid punched him in the face and shoved him out of the room and closed the door,” a law enforcement source said.
It was unclear if the girl was in bed at the time, the source added, but the security guard called the NYPD to report the bizarre behavior.

The jumper, Brandon Marco, 19, was apparently high on drugs and had been acting erratically before entering the woman’s room in Wien Hall at 411 W. 116th St. and Morningside Drive at 8 p.m. Monday, police said.

The 19-year-old man had been acting “erratically” before he walked into a woman’s room in Wien Hall at 8 p.m. and took off his clothing, according to police.
Officers were sent to the room after someone in the building called 911. But the student had already leaped out the window.
He was discovered on a third- floor setback and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.

A freshman at Columbia University was found dead in his dorm bathroom Friday morning, cops said.
Joshua Villa, 18, was discovered with a bag over his head inside the bathroom at Carman Hall, near West 114th Street and Broadway at 9:10 a.m.
Villa, who was from Azusa, Calif., was a member of the clubs Columbia Mentoring Initiative, Proud Colors and Columbia Queer Alliance, according to campus newspaper the Columbia Spectator.
In the hours before his death, Villa sent out a series of troubling tweets.
“Somebody almost noticed my irrelevancy. As their mind began to question my role, I quickly justified my existence: “I answer the phones,” he wrote.
He also tweeted, “I can’t tell the difference between growth, and becoming something I don’t want to be.”
His last tweet came 12 hours before his death: “There’s not a day goes by.”

Appeal Denied Of Murder Conviction At Harvard University Dorm

[From article]
The Supreme Judicial Court on Tuesday rejected several arguments brought up on appeal by Jabrai Jordan Copney, including that improper instructions were given to jurors at trial and that the trial judge allowed evidence of Copney's prior bad behavior.
The SJC said there's "no reason for us to reduce the degree of guilt or order a new trial."

Dorm Visitors Restricted at Harvard

Drug merchants and escort services employees have created a great way to market their wares in Harvard dorms. Who needs a girl friend to give them her key card when you can spend one night then take off without raising suspicions. HUPD ignores dorm visitors, which explains why there was a murder in a dorm by competing drug dealers. Ivy League druggies are clever. This will end any UNNECESSARY shootings by rival dealers.
