An unidentified man who allegedly posed as a doctor and treated hundreds of patients on board cruise ships has been arrested in Berlin.
The 40-year-old Berliner is said to have worked on boats for at least five years, including most recently on board AIDA Cruises, while not having the relevant qualifications or licence to practice.
It is thought the man, who trained as a nurse, faked his credentials but the details of the case are still under investigation.

It is thought the fake doctor had also been working for some time for other cruise lines prior to his most recent position.

Although only qualified as a nurse, the man claimed to be a specialist in anesthesia and intensive care.
Details of how he managed to fake his credentials for so long and how he came to be arrested are currently unclear.
