David “Duke” Fitzgerald — the brother of Boston Police Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald, who is in charge of the Boston Regional Intelligence Unit — was called into headquarters and put on leave last night, according to Boston police commissioner William Evans.
Fitzgerald is a patrolman who came on the department in March 1996. He is a past treasurer with the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association. Fitzgerald was assigned to Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood and works out of the B-2 area.
“It was a joint investigation between the FBI and our anti-corruption unit,” said Evans said. “He’s been put on administrative leave at this time.
