Cambridge City Council Wants More Persons With a History of Mental Illness

E. Denise Simmons, Cambridge City Councilor introduced a "Late Order" (No. 7 on April 22, 2013) to direct city agencies to broadcast what mental health care is available in the City. This was one week  after two fellas (as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick calls them), who lived in Cambridge set off bombs killing three, shot and killed a MIT Police Officer and wounded 178 others including one Transit Officer. Simmons did not say that she admires Hitler and Stalin who employed psychiatry to control, and to incarcerate an unruly population. Campaign contributions from drug companies and psychiatrists are not always identified. The City Council voted to increase awareness of diversity in the city, while maintaining their intolerance for diverse opinions in Cambridge. Instead of allowing open discussion and notice to citizens and preventing them from speaking on this order, long term City officials like Simmons use this legal technique to pass orders without any scrutiny from citizens. Using the complicated technique of suspending the rules, (all in favor say aye, the rules are suspended) Mayor Davis who chaired the meeting allowed discussion of this late order at the beginning of the meeting. They are usually voted on at the end of the meetings. Is the US Congress imitating the City Council? Or is the City Council imitating the US Congress keeping the herd bewildered, as Noam Chomsky says?

Cambridge MA City Councilor, Henrietta Davis agrees that more psychiatry is needed in the city after two fellas (as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick calls them), who lived in Cambridge set off bombs killing three, shot and killed a MIT Police Officer and wounded 178 others including one Transit Officer. Davis did not say that she admires Hitler and Stalin who employed psychiatry to control, and to incarcerate an unruly population. Campaign contributions from drug companies and psychiatrists are not always identified. The City Council voted to increase awareness of diversity in the city, while maintaining their intolerance for diverse opinions in Cambridge.

Longest serving City Councilor Ken Reeves spoke after passing the late order. He said, "For the nine of us, ah, it's important that we don't assume that we're all OK. And it's important that we understand that as human beings, uh, we have frailties too and vulnerabilities and [. . .] I was not allowed to leave my house. [. . .] I think I'm gonna be fine, but I'm not sure. [. . .] I think we should try to access the best supports we can too." Does that mean he was under house arrest? What was he convicted of? Does it mean Councilor Reeves seeks mental health treatment? Will that mean that he has a history of mental illness?

The Cambridge City Council "Nine of Us."

Marjorie Decker, City Councilor and State Representative spoke about Late Order Number 7 after it was passed. She recognized the importance of "a hug" giggling as she said it. She reported what her in-laws told her about the action in Watertown.
"One of my husband's aunts said she was so incredibly touched that, um, a lot of people came in with the wedding on Saturday, (giggle) but they were so touched that the determination of the, um, the FBI and the Task Force and all the police that were just, that came in, to the neighborhood, this was before we sort of knew what was going on, and they looked out their windows and realized something serious was happening, and the, um, the SWAT teams came into the house, and were so determined and so comforting, people, they, they felt so incredibly safe. And they also felt cared for. So in this incredibly intense moment of not knowing what's gonna happening, and knowing the danger that has already occurred, and, and that could occur, um, the determination of, we are here to help you, we are here to keep you safe, and, and literally the physical care of getting people out of houses to insure that, um, they weren't going to be stepping on anything that they didn't know that could be harmful. I mean, it just, but at the same time, the, the law enforcement were so gentle and sensitive with them as they moved them out, um, both in their words, and in their physical actions. For me it's just really, it, it's, . . . ah, I don't think we really appreciate who is, um, who makes up our first responders, and, and, what it is that they bring to this job, and, um, in so many ways. So, um, I, I'm just, I'm really happy to be part of this community, and we will be a community that grieves together and heals together."

No Second Amendment Rights For You, Now That You Have a History of Mental Illness

"representatives from the various Cambridge public health agencies visited the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School [. . .] to inform students and faculty about the mental health services available to them." Did these caring and loving professionals inform the students that after they enjoy some psychiatric love, they will no longer be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights, and if they are arrested they will be described by police and prosecutors as having "a history of mental illness?" Spineless, clueless, self serving, greedy politicians will keep increasing membership in the group of persons with a history of mental illness. As long as they remain unidentified as social deviants.
