Government Works Against Taxpayers

"Taxpayers gave new car dealers $4,500 for each clunker that was surrendered.

The auto industry and its dealers have already made out very well.

But on top of the $4,500, the dealers are now being paid several hundred dollars by salvagers who wanted the clunkers -- sans useful engines -- for their inventory.

The salvagers then make hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars, from each clunker's parts."
[. . .]
"A Republican congressman from Georgia recently said that any taxpayer that owes penalties on foreign earnings should be given a pass because Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner got a break on his taxes.

John Carter, a former judge, says that equal protection granted under the 14th Amendment is the reason he is proposing the Geithner Penalty Waiver.

I think that all insider-trading laws should also be revoked until we find out how much privileged information was given to Goldman Sachs and others by friends at the Treasury and Fed."

Democrats Defy History

"John McCain complained last week that he had no idea what constituted the highly touted backroom deal that Reid sent to the Congressional Budget Office for evaluation. The No. 2 Senate Democrat, Dick Durbin, reassured McCain that he didn't know, either."
[. . .]
"Reid's latest exertions fit the pattern of a headlong rush to a slapdash social democracy, justified by whatever arguments happen to be at hand and effected by whatever means necessary."
[. . .]
"the Founders created a balky system resistant to precipitate change. It is designed to frustrate ideologically drunken (and perhaps temporary) majorities insistent on passing sweeping, unpopular legislation."

Rushing Contrary to History

"The Senate spent four weeks debating the last farm bill and eight weeks debating an energy bill during the last session. But now a 2,000-page bill that will put the government in charge of one-sixth of the US economy (and some of the most important, personal and private decisions in people's lives) must be debated and voted on in just three weeks.
[. . .]
most of its provisions wouldn't take effect for many years.
[. . .]
no one would be able to sign up for it for the next five years.

There's no policy reason to hurry -- and many reasons to take it just a bit slower."

Obama Diverts Attention Again

"There are many reasons to hate Wall Street, even if you haven't heard Goldman's Blankfein quip that he's doing "God's work" when he trades bonds and earns all that bonus money.

But the ultimate culprit for the fact that these guys are raking it in while the rest of the nation suffers isn't Blankfein or the Wall Streeters at yesterday's meeting -- it's their enablers in government, including the man in the White House."

Journalists Bash Persons with Disabilities

It is more likely that the Italian suspect attacked the premier because he was a member of the World Wildlife Fund, than because he allegedly has a history of mental illness. But even if that has some link, what good did "ten years of treatment" do? This report is more bashing of persons with disabilities.

Berlusconi's physician, rushed to his side "after a mentally deranged man bludgeoned the billionaire premier."

"Officials said Tartaglia had been treated for mental problems for 10 years. He had no criminal record, and his family said he had no political affiliations other than being a volunteer for the World Wildlife Fund. But when asked whether he bore Berlusconi ill, he said, "I hate him."

"Massimo has psychiatric problems but he has never done anyone any harm," his father.

Overt Bias Against Persons With Disabilities

"Tartaglia [the suspect] has no rap sheet but Italian media reported he has been treated for psychological problems."

This shows more irrational negative bias against persons with disabilities. Without any causal connection between allegations of mental illness and violence journalists repeat this nonsense over and over again and again. Consequently civilians, police, politicians and courts make this repeated falsity into a reality, just as Josef Goebbels said it would.

Psychiatry Can Save Your Soul

Drug companies and the psychiatric industry are pleased that the trained seals want to increase their client base. Every action and every reaction is now mental illness requiring an evaluation. Man, woman charged with crime? Send for an evaluation. Child draws a religious figure? Send for en evaluation. These can be done by simply reading about or seeing pictures of the dangerous people who need evaluations. Psychiatrists do that on TV and in courts they predict the future too. Why not eliminate courts and legislatures and bring all problems to the psychiatric priests who have superior knowledge of all things earthly. What a bunch of seasick media driven maroons in this country.

Man Freed From False Rape Conviction

"This court had harsh words for you in imposing sentence" back in October 2006, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Richard Carruthers told William McCaffrey yesterday.

"I want to convey my personal regret for having participated, albeit unknowingly, in this injustice," said Carruthers. "Given the startling turn of events, I now retract what I said about you."
[. . .]
"her guilty conscience got the best of her -- and she admitted she had made the entire tale up."
[. . .]
"She knows she sent an innocent man to prison," said her lawyer Paul Callan. "She wanted these charges to be dismissed and she's very happy about it."
[. . .]
"Before vacating the sentence and tossing out the indictment, Carruthers told McCaffrey, "The court cannot restore lost time."

British Bias Same As in USA

In the report of the attack on Berlusconi at
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8410946.stm
it says "The alleged attacker, who has a history of mental illness,"
Why is that "fact" prominent? There is no evidence of causal connection between mental illness and crime or violence. Police, prosecutors, politicians and journalists perpetuate this nonsense which becomes accepted as true. Nazi doctors medicalized social problems which is what psychiatrists do. What is source of history? No privacy laws in UK? It suggests that mental illness causes crime, which is irrational. Pervasive bias demonizing persons with disabilities.
