Erasing Memory Research

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in a feature film called Eraser. Undesirable persons had their lives erased by the government as a form of punishment. In this report the government boasts of its research eliminating "debilitating memories," "traumatic memory," and "bad memories." Drugs and shock therapy are promoted to help heal those who have painful memories.

That would likely include memories of corrupt politicians and lies told by politicians. Santayana's advisory that those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it would be eliminated as well.

Here is one more example of what George Bernard Shaw observed: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Pre-Homeric Greek philosopher Cleobulous said, "The chief source of evil among men is excessive good."
