Camden, NJ High School Students Sneak Out of School, Steal Car, Kill Grandmother, Return to School

Tia Walker, 53, of Camden, New Jersey (let and right) was killed after she was struck by a car driven by a 16-year-old boy in a hit-and-run crash in April, police said. She leaves behind two children and three grandchildren.

[From article]
A 16-year-old boy and another teen reportedly slipped out of school unnoticed, stole an unlocked car and killed a grandmother in a hit-and-run before at least one returned to school after the ordeal.
On April 25, classes had not begun at Camden High School in New Jersey when the teens sneaked out of the building without any of the school's 11 security guards noticing, Philly.com reported.
After making their exit that morning, the male teens spotted an unlocked silver Cadillac DeVille half a mile from the school, hopped in and started cruising around Camden's streets, police said.
At some point during their joyride the car was reported stolen, and when an officer started following the vehicle, the 16-year-old behind the wheel suddenly accelerated, police said.
As the car took off, it struck 53-year-old pedestrian Tia Walker, who at the time was crossing the street as she walked home after cleaning the house of an elderly relative, according to Philly.com.
The boys abandoned the car at a nearby median, fled the scene on foot and at least one returned to the high school, authorities said.
Walker was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she died the next day.
The 16-year-old boy has since been arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter among other charges.
It is not clear if the other teen will face charges and neither of their names have been released because they are juveniles.
Meanwhile, Walker's relatives are still trying to cope with her loss.
'I don't know what's worse: that we had to bury our sister or that these perpetrators were children,' Walker's brother, Brother Minister Wasim Muhammad, who also is a member of the Camden school board, told Philly.com.
'I just don't know which is the greater tragedy.'
While sad by such a tragic loss, Muhammad said he has forgiven the teens.
'These are misguided young people,' he told Philly.com.
'It's just a fact that it wasn't intentional. They weren't targeting my sister.'
Walker was a long-time Camden resident and for many years was a maintenance worker in City Hall, and also worked as a day-care aide, according to Philly.com.
She leaves behind two children and three grandchildren.
'She was just a beautiful soul,' her 23-year-old son, Juan Walker told Philly.com.
'She never had an enemy or any problems with anyone.'
Her daughter, Taneeyah, is getting married later this year and Walker had already picked out her dress for the special occasion. Her family said she was buried wearing it.
Following the incident, the schools spokesman said the district is working with prosecutor's office and the local law enforcement following the incident.
'We're pained by the tragic loss of a Camden resident,' Schools spokesman Brendan Lowe said.
Lowe also noted that the school is working to improve security at high schools across the district.

NYPD Identifies Suspect in 10-year-old Homicide of Honors Student

Chanel Petro-Nixon

[From article]
The NYPD is closing in on a murder suspect in one of the city’s most infamous cold cases involving a Brooklyn high school honors student, The Post has learned.
Chanel Petro-Nixon, 16, went missing about 10 years ago on June 18, 2006 — that year’s Father’s Day — and was found four days later strangled inside a garbage bag in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
After years of frustrating dead ends in the case, cops and investigators from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office have zeroed in on Veron Primus, a former high school friend of the victim, according to an investigation by WPIX/Channel 11.
In a segment airing Monday, “Crime Watch Daily’’ reporter Mary Murphy travels to the suspect’s native home on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent, where he is in prison facing kidnapping and murder charges in other cases.
Murphy interviews Primus’s ex-girlfriend, Mewanah Hadaway, who shares a harrowing tale of allegedly being held in a crude wooden enclosure in the suspect’s back yard for three-and-a-half months.
While he held her captive, Primus allegedly showed Hadaway news clippings about the Petro-Nixon case and made statements about killing a girl in the United States, Murphy says.
Hadaway eventually escaped Primus, now 29, by slipping a note to a housekeeper, who went to the police.
The NYPD believes that Petro-Nixon also was held before being killed and dumped on a sidewalk just a mile from her home, according to the report, which airs at 2 p.m.
In addition to Hadaway’s kidnapping, Primus has been charged with killing a St. Vincent real estate agent after local cops found evidence of the crime during their investigation into the ex-girlfriend’s case, according to Murphy.
NYPD cops interviewed Hadaway in April and returned to the island last week to meet with St. Vincent police, according to Murphy.
Law enforcement sources told Murphy the St. Vincent sit-downs have been “very fruitful,” although Primus did not confess to murdering Petro-Nixon and requested a lawyer after 45 minutes of questioning.
Petro-Nixon was a straight-A student whose corpse was found with a chemical scar on her leg, possibly from bleach that her killer used to mutilate her, investigators have speculated.

New York City High School Principal Alledegly Did Not Report Gang Rape of Girl In School Bathroom

Principal Michael Wiltshire (right) is being investigated for not coming forward with allegations by a girl that she was raped by five Boys and Girls High School football players at the Brooklyn school (left).

[From article]
Administrators at a troubled Brooklyn high school face potential firing for covering up allegations that a female student was raped by five football players in a locker room, The Post has learned.
The educators include Boys and Girls High School Principal Michael Wiltshire, who was publicly praised by Mayor Bill de Blasio last year but is currently eyeing a new job on Long Island.
An internal investigation by the Department of Education concluded last week that Wiltshire and two assistant principals failed to report the alleged mid-December gang rape after meeting with the girl and her mom, according to a source familiar with the probe’s findings.
Investigators also found the trio failed to report the suspected theft and use of a DOE credit card by students at Boys and Girls, the source said.
“We have clear reporting procedures to ensure incidents and misconduct are thoroughly addressed, and any failure to report is deeply concerning,” DOE spokeswoman Devora Kaye told The Post on Thursday.
[. . .]
DOE rules include a mandate that all employees who learn of alleged crimes committed by students that don’t pose an “immediate safety threat” are required to notify the principal, who “must, in turn, notify the police and the [school safety agent]” and the “appropriate superintendent.”
Principals also are required to file an incident report within 24 hours through the DOE’s Online Occurrence Reporting System.
Instead, Wiltshire and his assistants — Cami Wittingham and Sherlene Thomas-Hughes — questioned whether the girl consented to the locker room incident, the source familiar with the investigation said.
The NYPD’s Special Victims Division, which investigates sex crimes, has no record of a reported rape at the Bed-Stuy school during December, a police spokesman said. DOE officials said no charges were filed.
In addition, “nothing has been entered” into the DOE’s computer system, which is used to compile annual, state-mandated reports, the source familiar with the internal investigation said.
DOE Superintendent Michael Alcoff, who oversees Boys and Girls as part of de Blasio’s School Renewal Program to turn around 94 underperforming schools, learned about the alleged rape through an anonymous phone call following the principal’s meeting with the girl and her mom, the source said.
Wiltshire played dumb when Alcoff confronted him about the tipster’s call and denied knowing anything about the rape allegations, the source said.
Alcoff then blew the whistle, sparking a probe by the city schools’ Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard Condon. His office referred the case to the DOE’s Office of Special Investigations.
Probers recommended that the DOE convene a “technical conference” with department lawyers to consider firing or otherwise disciplining the administrators, the source said.
Wiltshire was put in charge of Boys and Girls in 2014 to improve its dismal performance, which at the time included three straight F’s on its annual progress reports and a graduation rate of just 42 percent.
The deal included a $25,000 bonus for Wiltshire — who earns $182,000-plus annually — and an unusual arrangement that made him “master principal” at Medgar Evers College Preparatory School in Crown Heights, which he has run for the past 13 years.
At last year’s Boys and Girls graduation ceremony, de Blasio hailed Wiltshire’s performance there, which included boosting the graduation rate to 50 percent.
“What I have seen just over this last year from Principal Wiltshire is the kind of leadership that moves mountains, that inspires people, that changes things that people say couldn’t be changed,” de Blasio said.
Wiltshire recently interviewed for a new job as principal of Uniondale High School on Long Island and was planning to decide whether to accept it by the end of the city school year on June 28, DOE officials said.
A statement from the Uniondale school district said it was “currently in the process of interviewing candidates” and that “no decision has been made.”
Wiltshire refused to comment Thursday outside his home in Springfield Gardens, Queens, but later sent an email to The Post saying: “You can contact the superintendent’s office to verify the story. This is not true. Thank you.”

Cambridge, MA High School Students Recognize Difference Between Perception and Reality

“In Cambridge, there’s a difference between perception and reality,” [student Gregorio Leon] said. “There’s this perception of being an ultra-liberal utopia, which can often lead to a lack of questioning about who we really are. That complacency is very dangerous, and good to challenge.” is an accurate observation not limited to CRLS.

Tell that to $37 billion endowed Harvard University, local, state and US governments which abuse taxpayers and voters.

One Cambridge gentleman was described as a retired drug dealer for 35 years by the FBI as part of covering up serious criminal government abuses, while others described the same gentleman as homeless and crazy. Police and politicians joined in bullying a vulnerable person. This works in many areas.

Florida Teen, 15, Admits Having Sex With Football Players In School Bathroom

The incident took place on Tuesday at South Fort Myers High School. (GOOGLE MAPS)

[From article]
Florida sheriff's detectives are investigating a cellphone video purportedly showing a 15-year-old girl having sex with as many as two dozen boys in a public high school bathroom after school.
A school security camera captured 25 boys entering the restroom on May 17, news media outlets reported.
Lee County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Schall said Tuesday that authorities originally decided not to pursue any criminal charges from the incident.
But Schall said when a cellphone video surfaced and was sent to news outlets and posted online, detectives and the Florida Department of Children and Families decided to investigate further.
School spokeswoman Amity Chandler would not comment. A note to parents from the principal said students were disciplined "quickly."
[. . .]

News of the incident-turned-viral has circulated on the web for nearly a week while the school district has fought to keep information under wraps. Officials have declined to comment in detail in an effort to protect the children involved,CBS affiliate WINK News reported.
"I am upset about all the attention it is getting, to be honest with you. I feel for all of the students involved," Lee County School Board Member Pamela LaRiviere told WINK.
Five students were initially suspended and 11 others await disciplinary action, according to sources at the Lee County School District, WINK reported.
Students said videos were shared through text messages, the mobile app Snapchat and on social media, which could land students with child porn charges, attorneys said.

Fla. authorities investigate sex scandal in high school bathroom

This is not the kind of after-school activity parents had in mind.
A number of male students at a Florida High School had sex with a 15-year-old girl in a school bathroom on Tuesday.
A hallway camera at the school recorded 25 boys entering the restroom at South Fort Myers High School after classes were over on Tuesday, according to the News-Press.
A 15-year-old girl would later admit to the principal that she had sex with some of them, according to reports. At least one student was punished for "inappropriate activity."
[. . .]
The incident was reported to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, who in turn notified the special victims unit, according to the News-Press. A cellphone was seized as evidence.
"That is unbelievable. I can't believe it. It's terrible," parent Kevin Ware told NBC 2. "We need to know what was going on during school? Why are the kids out? Where they supposed to be in class? Where were the teachers? A thorough investigation needs to be done."

Two Shot At Wisconsin High School Prom

[From article]
Two students attending a northern Wisconsin high school prom were wounded when struck by bullets fired by a teenage gunman who was shot by police and later died, police said Sunday.
The shooting happened outside Antigo High School around 11 p.m. Saturday, near the end of the event, according to WSAW-TV, and the school district said the quick action of staff and police “prevented what might have otherwise been a disaster of unimaginable proportions.”
Police identified the gunman as 18-year-old Jakob Wagner, a former Antigo student. Police said he had acted alone.
[. . .]
Instead, interim district administrator Donald Childs said he believes Wagner planned to enter the prom and start shooting randomly.
Childs said Wagner was continuing to work on his diploma after failing to graduate with his Antigo class last year.
[. . .]

A friend of Wagner’s, Dylan Dewey, 18, told the Associated Press that Wagner continued to help out at the school in one of the art classes.
Dewey said Wagner had been dating a girl at the school but that she had broken up with him last month.
Dewey said Wagner was an “all-around good guy” and said he generally seemed happy.

New Video Exposes Bias and Bigotry in Newton High Schools

Anti-Israel Indoctrination Masquerading as “Critical Thinking”

Indoctrination @ Newton High, a new video released today by Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT), exposes a pattern of anti-Israel teachings found in Newton, Massachusetts high schools, including:
Newton’s high schools have used Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) maps that falsify the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Newton students were not told that the maps were created by the PLO’s propaganda unit.

Newton’s schools presented students with a falsified version of the Hamas Charter. In Newton’s doctored version the word ”Jews” – as a target of hatred — is replaced with the word “Zionists.”
In one lesson, Newton students are asked to consider the Jewish state’s right to exist. (The legitimacy of no other nation-state’s existence is questioned.) The lesson included “expert” opinions, which are drawn overwhelmingly from anti-Israel academics and anti-Semitic activists.
A book used in Newton high schools has a recommended reading list that includes the extremist writings by Muslim Brotherhood leaders including Sayyid Qutb, and Yusuf Qaradawi, whose sermons call for the murder of Jews and homosexuals.

Catholic School Invites Pro Jihad Speaker

[From article]
In mid-March I published an article in World Net Daily about an incident at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, Last month, the entire student body was called together to hear a deceptive presentation on “Islamophobia” from the notorious Ahmed Bedier, who openly supports the jihad terror group Hizb’allah and has worked for the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Now the principal of St. Petersburg Catholic High, Fr. Richard Rosin, is making a clumsy attempt at damage control. He sent parents this letter -- and some of them sent it to me:
Dear Parents/Guardians:
You may have heard that Ms. Pam Geller of Breitbart media has written a scathing and erroneous article about St. Petersburg Catholic High School. The article attempts to address the assembly held on Thurs. Feb. 18, 2016. It is important to allay any fears that this article has created.
[. . .]
Meanwhile, one of my sources at the school has informed me it was just one student who thought this deceptive assembly would be a good idea, and she reportedly pressured the administration to get it approved. In the end, however, everything that occurs at that school is the responsibility of the principal. I wonder if anyone even vetted this Fr. Rosin. Not only was it a disgrace to subject these Christian kids to this propaganda, but it could have potentially been very dangerous.
[. . .]
A correct view of Islam? From a former representative of terror-tied CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist funding trial in our nation’s history? If Fr. Rosin really wanted to present an accurate view of Islam, he should have Ibn Warraq, Wafa Sutlan, Nonie Darwish, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Robert Spencer -- not a former representative of a group with multiple links to Hamas, and which has been designated a terrorist group by the United Arab Emirates. Why didn’t the principal invite to the school one of the Catholic priests from the Middle East whose flock has been decimated by Islamic jihadis?
[. . .]
Nothing inappropriate? As I showed in my original article on this, Bedier minimized, downplayed, and dissembled about the jihad threat. He falsely exaggerated Muslim achievements, played moral equivalence games in claiming that there were Christian terrorists as well as Muslim ones (with his one example being Tim McVeigh, who is supposed to be equivalent to the perpetrators of 28,000 jihad attacks since 9/11), and gave students an incomplete and misleading picture of the doctrinal differences between Islam and Christianity – even as Muslims are persecuting Christians to a degree unparalleled for centuries.
[. . .]
What ridiculous posturing. Fr. Rosin, those who oppose jihad and Sharia are not murderers. None of my readers or supporters have committed any acts of violence. Nor have I ever called for or condoned any violence. Your students need have no fear of me or my supporters. They should fear Islamic jihadis who have repeatedly threatened to murder American civilians -- but you have made sure that they are ignorant and complacent regarding that threat.
[. . .]
And Bedier, who has featured open supporters of Hizb’allah on his radio show and worked for a Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood group, condemned terrorism? Is Fr. Rosin really that naïve and eager to be fooled? And does he really expect parents to be as well?
[. . .]
The Pope and the U.S. bishops are committed to the idea that Islam is a religion of peace while Muslims who know better are picking off their young people and turning them into killers. The “dialogue” they’re so fanatically committed to, meanwhile, has not saved one Middle Eastern Christian from being brutalized by Muslims, or one church from being destroyed.

College Professor Perplexed At Lack of Skills of Students

[From article]
On the other hand, a grave disservice has been done to those students who are interested in learning and have genuine academic credentials. Because businesses can no longer be certain that college degrees indicate anything meaningful, they insist that their new employees take additional classes to obtain various certifications. Often these workers have to spend inordinate amounts of money and time to increase learning because the university degree has been so devalued in the first place. Dumbing down education results in many victims.
Low IQ levels, total indifference to learning, no curiosity, specious logic, no in-depth training in critical thinking and writing – these are the real-life factors that face college instructors. Low grades are frustrating for many students, because they truly don't know what they don't know.
Often I will be told that I am the rare instructor who insists on correct formatting for a research paper even though this is an integral item. One student gave me a paper for which she had received an "A," and on the very first page, there were syntax and grammar errors that the other instructor had apparently ignored. Is it any wonder that so many students think they are writing "A" papers when no one has actually pointed out their substandard writing? They were never taught basic English grammar in the first place, so how can I hold them responsible?
Too many instructors are reluctant to do their job because (a) the errors are so numerous that the work involved in correcting them is monumental, (b) they fear student retaliation, (c) often the chair of a department will not back up an instructor's decision, and (d) the status of teachers is so poor that we are viewed as mere facilitators rather than purveyors of knowledge.
And yet, as college instructor Daniel J. Smith wrote in May 2015, "the expectation of high grades without merit is on the rise." He explains why bumping up a grade leads only to "reducing the opportunity for people to experience the life satisfaction that comes through earned success," whether in the academic or business world. I concur. But again, I ask: How can I possibly grade these students? And how can we stop penalizing students who actually belong in college when the very degree they are seeking is so devalued?

he news comes in the wake of the Trojan Horse plot last year which saw hard-line Islamists allegedly trying to take over a number of Birmingham schools and oust non-Muslim staff.
A similar incident in California last year sparked fury after pupils were asked to sing about spreading Islam.
Pupils were told to sing: “This is their fight / Spread Islam now / Prove they’re right.”
Teacher Amber Stables told pupils: “Focus: How would it make you feel having to tell your parents this? How would/could they react?”
[. . .]
Just a month later pupils in Minnesota were told to sing a song about Ramadan at a Christmas concert.
A county in Virginia was also forced to close all its schools amid growing fury after studentswere told to write the shahada, an Islamic declaration of faith, in Arabic calligraphy.

Two Arizona High School Girls Found Shot Dead

[From article]
Two 15-year-old girls are dead after a shooting at a Glendale, Arizona, high school this morning, police said.
The shooting was reported at Independence High School, about 12 miles outside of Phoenix. The two teenagers were shot just before 8 a.m. in an "isolated" area of campus, Glendale police said.
Officers found both girls dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound, Officer Tracey Breeden, spokesperson for the Glendale Police Department, said at a news conference. She said this was not an active shooter situation.
The girls were found together with a weapon near them, Breeden said. Both girls were in the 10th grade, she added.
Police do not believe there are any outstanding suspects, Breeden said.

Students Unable To Sign Own Names

Photo: Getty Images

[From article]
Many Big Apple students, including the children of several state lawmakers, can’t even sign their own names, it was revealed at an educational budget hearing in Albany today.
“Not only is it sad, but it’s a security issue,” said Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-SI/Brooklyn).
[. . .]
students have become so tech-oriented that they never learn how to sign their John Hancock, which renders them unable to properly ink contracts, checks and credit cards.
Malliotakis said the penmanship problem was brought to her attention while helping one of her constituents fill out a voter registration form. He printed his name, and when she told him to actually sign it, he insisted that was his signature.
Even the 11-year-old daughter of veteran Harlem legislator Herman “Denny” Farrell doesn’t know how to sign her name.
“And she’s smarter than me,” Farrell said of his daughter, Prince, who attends a private school in Harlem. “They don’t teach it. I’m going to go home now and teach her handwriting.”
LeRoy Comrie, a senator from Queens, told Malliotakis his son never learned that skill either.
“Can you imagine?” Malliotakis told The Post. “Not only does it mean you can’t sign a business contract, but it makes you vulnerable to identity theft because anyone can just go ahead and print your name.”

How To Stop Dumbing Down of American Students

[From article]
The next generation of Americans is being indoctrinated by Islamic supremacists who are in positions of power and influence over school curricula. They are stealing our children’s minds and setting the United States up to sink even further into a morass of ignorance.
[. . .]

It appears that 1500 errors have been found by textbook reviewers so far and of those, over 60% of the material was either removed or changed. Ultimately, 50 concerned citizens impacted the education of 5 million children, helping to ensure they received “more factually correct and less politically biased textbooks for the next 10 years.” Examples of errors include:
McGraw Hill World History textbook, 2014 edition: “In the conquered territories of Asia and North Africa there were peaceful interactions among Muslim, Christian, and Jewish societies.”
Houghton Mifflin World History textbook, 2014 edition: “Sharia law requires Muslim leaders to extend religious tolerance to Christians and Jews.”

Outrageous Baltimore Black on White Violence

[From article]
In December the Baltimore Sun ran a glowing portrait of Marin Alsop, the symphony conductor who had recently explained to the BBC that riots in Baltimore were necessary because racist white people did not listen to black people.
[. . .]
In a story about Alsop, I mentioned the many performers around the country who are victims of black violence, including Peter Marvit of Baltimore. Soon after, I received an email from one of Peter’s friends, John Bosma:
I was a friend of Peter Marvit -- a fellow tenor, we sat with each other at the rehearsal he attended 30 minutes before he was attacked on his front porch, shot six times in the head and neck, and died in the arms of his neighbor.
[. . .]
Peter had started -- on his own nickel -- a program for poor black kids to learn music, dance and the arts. He spent a lot of time and talent on it.
[. . .]

I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest from Baltimore. What partly impelled the move was being beaten up by a black guy who I had grappled with and held down after he was chasing his girlfriend with a baseball bat.
His GF and another woman went nuts, beating me as he and I grappled on the ground with me holding the bat with both arms. To shut them up, I stupidly rolled the bat away and let him get up. He promptly decked me, kicked the hell out of my head (concussion and bleeding). I was very lucky.
He was released on PR 1 hr after being booked. It took me 5-6 court appearances to get him a 3-yr suspended sentence.
[. . .]

A woman friend from India, with two science degrees and teaching at what is supposed to be one of Baltimore's top middle schools, tells me her kids call her every filthy name in the book with impunity.
When one boy snarled she should go back to India, she told him that under his argument he should go back to Africa. That cost her a disciplinary inquiry for 'racism'. She was also hauled in for suspected 'racism' when she used the technical term "negate" in her class -- and a black girl took it as an epithet and brought her hell-raising mother to school to confront her in the principal's office.
That's how racially hair-triggered the schools are. Her students have stolen her phone, stood around laughing and jeering when she fell on a chair and broke her ribs, refusing to help her or get help... her blood pressure has shot up to danger levels but the school refuses to discipline any black students who raise hell in class

Philadelphia, PA High School Student Threatened By Others For Protected Speech About Race. School Officials Indicate Spinelessness, Relaxed Rectitude

Michael Moroz, Philadelphia High School Student

Welcome to the world of exercising constitutionally protected rights. Thugs and liberals (do I repeat myself?) do not extend those rights to people who disagree with their propaganda. In Cambridge, MA black city police, and Harvard University campus police have harassed me for more than 20 years for similar expression. No tolerance in the halls of elite universities either. You have to fight for your rights. There are many public officials who lack spines and will not stand up for their oaths of office to defend the Constitution.

Philadelphia high school senior Michael Moroz knew he was courting controversy when he wrote about race in the school newspaper, but he never expected death threats from classmates and strangers.
Just before Christmas break, the 17-year-old wrote an opinion piece for the Central High school paper, the Centralizer. In it, he criticized the racially charged University of Missouri protests and opined that Michael Brown, the black teenager killed in 2014 by a white police officer in Ferguson, Mo., was "a delinquent" who was "at worst, justifiably killed, and at best, [was] a thug."
The story hit the paper’s Facebook page while school was out, and that’s when the threats poured in. Moroz is now afraid to return to school and worried he could lose his place next fall at an Ivy League university.
[. . .]
Soon after Moroz's writing appeared online, Internet trolls took to social media, urging "someone" to “deal with” and even “shoot” him. Dozens of other posts labeled him a racist and urged University of Pennsylvania to rescind the acceptance it recently offered Moroz.
When classes resumed this week, a shaken Moroz stayed home.
He claims at least five fellow students at Central threatened his life, and his family has hired an attorney and filed a complaint with the Philadelphia Police Department.
[. . .]
“They are saying that what Michael wrote is something they don’t agree with and that it justifies their actions. This is something that is becoming more common in America, and that is frightening.”
The opinion piece was pulled from the Facebook page by student editors once the backlash began, but the counterpoint article supporting the movement was left alone.
[. . .]
Central Principal Timothy McKenna defended the decision to take down the article by saying no printed copies were collected or destroyed.
[. . .]
“It certainly doesn’t feel like the administration is supporting me,” Moroz said. “They took the onus from themselves and put it on me, saying that it was a police matter and that I had to call and inform them.

Asian American Students Held Back By Misguided Priorities

[From article]
This is a disturbing article in the New York Post that chronicles the story of achievement by Asian-American students – and the policies adopted by school districts across the couintry to limit their advancement.
The reason for the success of Asian-American kids is the total committment and encouragement by their parents to their education. But other parents believe that their kids are at a disadvantage because they don't take the time or make the same effort as Asian parents. So school districts are now taking a "holistic" approach that keeps Asian kids down.
Here in New York City, Asian-Americans make up 13 percent of students, yet they win more than half of the coveted places each year at the city’s selective public high schools, such as Bronx Science and Stuyvesant.
What’s at play here? It’s not a difference in IQ; it’s parenting. That’s confirmed by a recent study by sociologists from City University of New York and the University of Michigan, which showed that parental oversight enabled Asian-American students to far outperform the others.
[. . .]
That formula is under fire at the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District in New Jersey. The district, which is 65 percent Asian, routinely produces seniors with perfect SAT scores, admissions to MIT and top prizes in international science competitions.
But many non-Asian parents are up in arms, complaining there’s too much pressure and their kids can’t compete. In response, this fall Superintendent David Aderhold apologized that school had become a “perpetual achievement machine.” Heaven forbid!
Aderhold canceled accelerated and enriched math courses for fourth and fifth grades, which were 90 percent Asian, and eliminated midterms and finals in high school.
Using a word that already strikes terror in the hearts of Asian parents, he said schools had to take a “holistic” approach. That’s the same euphemism Harvard uses to limit the number of Asians accepted and favor non-Asians.
[. . .]
Affirmative action programs at colleges already limits the number of Asians who can attend the best schools. Now high schools, under pressure from parents, want to limit the number of high-achieving Asian kids who enroll in the best schools and the toughest courses.
What's up with that? Are the parents of kids of other races lazy, or don't they love their kids as much? That's nonsense for the most part, although some parents probably fit that description. The key is a culture that celebrates achievement. I don't think you'll find too many "Participation Trophies" being handed out in Japan or China. In those countries, either you achieve or you're left behind.
The competition just to get into college in those two countries is far more cutthroat than in the U.S. The question is, rather than dumbing down our educational system, why not emulate Asian parents? The answer is that secondary education – except for some sports – has been trying to eliminate the very idea of competition, because it is believed that losing marks a student for life and leads to low self-esteem and other problems.

Tennessee High School Teen Shot Dead Trying To Protect Three Girls

Zaevion William Dobson, 15, a Tennessee high school student-athlete

[From article]
"[He] was very well liked by his peers and his teachers," Fulton High football coach Rob Black said during a news conference today. "This was a fine, fine young man. ... I want to try to continue to celebrate the life that he had [and] the impact he had on his peers."
At the news conference, Knoxville Police Department Chief David Rausch choked back tears at one point as he detailed the Thursday night shooting that killed the 15-year-old sophomore and football player at Fulton High School. Rausch said that Dobson had been trying to shield three girls from the barrage of gunfire.
"Unfortunately, they picked a random group of young men and women who were just hanging out and trying to prepare to celebrate the holiday," he said of the shooters.
[. . .]
Raush said that around 7:18 p.m. Thursday police responded to a call about shots being fired in a home. Inside the house, which had been struck by gunfire multiple times, police found a 46-year-old woman as well as a 10-year-old child. Raush said the woman, Lisa Perry, had been shot more than once in her lower back. She was hospitalized. The child was not injured.
Several hours later, around 10:12 p.m., Brandon Perry, Lisa Perry's 23-year-old son, and "several additional males" then drove to a different area and allegedly "randomly fired multiple times" at a group of young adults, including Dobson. Dobson was struck and killed. No other injuries were reported.
[. . .]
Rausch said authorities believed there was a connection between the shootings and gangs.
"This is a very active investigation. ... We know all three of the incidents that happened overnight are connected," he said. "There were multiple individuals out there."
Later today, police announced that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the three overnight shootings.

Abuse of Disability Laws By Defense Lawyers in Homicide Trial

Colleen Ritzer, 24, popular Danvers, MA high school teacher, brutally slain by one of her students, who was 14 at the time.

Two outrageous implications of this man's testimony. One is that mental illnesses--speech and behavior which psychiatrists do not like or do not understand--are hereditary. Where is there evidence of such nonsense. The second part is suggesting there is a causal connection between mental illness, crime and violence. More pure nonsense. Would any testimony that black people are more violent and stupid than others be allowed or reported in newspapers? Lawyers, judges and courts perpetuate this negative stereotyping of persons with disabilities. More exploitation by criminal defense lawyers of laws intended to protect disabled persons from abuse.

[From article]
Philip Chism’s family has a history of mental illness, the teen’s maternal grandfather testified yesterday — marking the first time one of the former high school sophomore’s relatives took the stand in the murder and rape trial of a popular Danvers High School math teacher.
Eduardo Barbieri of Pompano Beach, Fla., said his ex-wife, Chism’s grandmother, was treated with shock therapy at a Salem hospital in 1975 after suffering a mental breakdown.
“She had a nervous breakdown. ... She had shock treatment, not only once, but many times,” Barbieri said on the witness stand in Essex Sup
erior Court, where he referred to Chism as “my beloved grandson.”
Barbieri went on to testify that one of his daughters, Chism’s aunt, also suffered mental breakdowns that required treatment at psychiatric hospitals.
“I would say the same thing as my ex-wife,” Barbieri said of Chism’s aunt. “The same type of problem. She couldn’t handle anything.”
The testimony from Barbieri, Chism’s defense team’s first witness, was aimed at convincing jurors Chism was insane during the slaying of 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer, who was killed

Moments later, the same female officer is seen on the ground again, with a young woman in a grey sweatshirt punching her.
All the while, the fighting is accompanied by a roar from a crowd of spectators following the action.
