Long Island, NY Rabbi, Married Five Times, Is Celebrated by Some

Toby Gotesman Schneier, one of the rabbi's extra curricular lovers

[From article]
The Hamptons’ “rabbi to the stars,” Marc Schneier, really loves thy neighbor — a little too much.
Schneier, 57, has been married — and divorced — five times. Now he’s flitting about the Jewish social circuit with Simi Teitelbaum, a 30-something blond Israeli party girl and former flight attendant who led to the demise of his fifth marriage. His congregation, which had shrugged off his indiscretions for years, has had enough.
[. . .]
“He is not fit to be the rabbi of our congregation,” Lloyd Landow, 76, a Long Island architect and longtime synagogue member who led the crusade, wrote in an e-mail to more than 100 synagogue members.
[. . .]
Schneier, the 18th generation of an esteemed rabbinic dynasty, [. . .] founded the tony synagogue in 1990 and was the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. “Measure of a Man” award from the NAACP in the ’90s. “I will continue to be a part of our community, as you all have a very special place in my heart.”
[. . .]
In January 1981, while a 21-year-old rabbinic student at Yeshiva University, he married Brooklyn native and Barnard College student Elissa Shay, then just 20. The chief rabbis of Israel and Romania officiated, but the marriage lasted less than a year
[. . .]
Schneier explained away his unholy extramarital hookups by saying he was mentally ill and seeking treatment.
[. . .]
“People at shul accepted his adulterous affairs and outrageous behavior,” says the friend who wants to distance himself from Schneier. “It’s like, ‘Marc cheated on his wife again, what’s new?’ It became a running joke: the annual Marc Schneier wedding.”
Conveniently, Schneier had appointed his own board of mostly men who were apparently willing to look the other way — and to compensate him well. (In most synagogues, the congregation — not the rabbi — chooses the board.)
[. . .]
ex-wife Gotesman tells The Post. “When I left him, he was making $800,000.” She says that included a $500,000 salary, plus hundreds of thousands in additional compensation, including mortgage payments on his 5,000-square-foot Westhampton Beach home, said to be valued around $3 million.
Morality — or lack thereof — wasn’t a big concern for many synagogue-goers.
“The congregation was out to party. They come for the 3 F’s — fun, food, and f - - king,” says Esther Muller, a Columbus Circle resident who works in real estate and has known Schneier for decades.
[. . .]
“He’s not a George Clooney — I don’t know what they see in him,” says an Upper West Side friend of Leiner’s who asked to remain anonymous. She sympathizes with her friend, now a single mom to an almost-2-year-old girl, but concedes: “She’s not innocent. None of them are innocent.”
Schneier’s divorcing a wife with a young child seemed to be the final straw.
[. . .]
“It’s an abuse of power,” says Sara Shulevitz, a 30-something criminal-defense attorney who splits her time between Miami and New York and has been to services led by Schneier. “A lot of women admire and look up to rabbis, especially in [Orthodox Judaism], because there are no female rabbis. It’s horrible for a rabbi to abuse that trust, [but] a lot of people look the other way because he’s a powerful man.”
[. . .]

“Look, he obviously has a weakness; his attention span for a mate is different from others’,” says Jeff Wiesenfeld, 58, who works in private-wealth management and has known the rabbi for 35 years. “But in terms of what he’s done [for the shul], he’s a phenomenon.”
“He’s the greatest — he built this from nothing,” says Graulich, the acolyte from New Rochelle, who praises the rabbi’s successful turnaround of the Jewish-averse Hamptons back in 1990, when there was scarcely any Semitic life there, let alone a haute spot for the monied class to mingle. “They wouldn’t allow Jews to join the country clubs.”
He happily drives the two hours each way every Saturday to hear his unimpeachable leader, who can do no wrong.
“He’s married, he’s divorced — big deal . . . King Solomon had 20 wives. Five is nothing,” says Graulich.
Plus, he says: “I like controversy. I don’t like a boring shul. I want Peyton Place as a shul; if I wanted a boring shul, I’d go to Westchester.”

Drew Barrymore Splits From Third Husband

Drew BarrymorePhoto: JON KOPALOFF/FILMMAGIC

Maybe now she will recognize her mistakes and come live with me.
[From article]
Another source added, “Drew had a very rebellious and wild childhood, with no family around her, and while she is a very different person now, and a great mother, some of that can stay with you.”
It’s the third failed union for the “E.T.” beauty.
Her first marriage, at age 19, was to bartender Jeremy Thomas in 1994, and lasted less than two months. Her second, in 2001, was to comedian Tom Green, her co-star in “Charlie’s Angels,” and lasted five months.
[. . .]
Barrymore, who had a troubled childhood with two stints in rehab, told InStyle magazine last year about meeting Kopelman in early 2012, just four months before their wedding at her $6 million Montecito, Calif., estate.
“It was never really love at first sight. Will struck a lot of my pragmatic sides. He was someone who was always reachable on the phone, someone who was a classy human being, someone who has this incredible blueprint of a family that I don’t have.”
She told Us Weekly last year that she and Kopelman, “compromise on a lot of things.” “We know each other very well and know what our likes and dislikes are, and what works and doesn’t work.

Husband Placed Spyware on Wife's Phone During Divorce Proceedings

Crocker Coulson (left) and Anne Resnik

[From article]

Anne Resnik — whose late dad, Frank, was CEO of Philip Morris USA — says hubby Crocker Coulson put the spyware on her phone just before he dumped her last year.
The Brooklyn Heights woman claims that Coulson could read messages from her celebrity lawyer, Raoul Felder — and that he accused her of sneaking off to see a boyfriend because he could track her with the phone’s GPS.
The bug stayed in place for some four months until it was uncovered by a computer expert Resnik had hired, according to court papers.
Felder said they stumbled upon the spyware by chance when they called on the expert to get info off the phone for their case in a more thorough way.
“In the course of that, it was discovered it was [hacked],” said Felder.
The installation of the software, which is called mSpy, allegedly took place on Oct. 6, 2014 — just three weeks before Coulson sued Resnik for divorce, according to a ruling by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Sunshine.
During a subsequent deposition, Coulson invoked the Fifth Amendment 58 times when questioned about bank records that show he purchased a “premium” mSpy subscription, as well as IPVanish software to allegedly hide his tracks.
Resnik says Coulson — with whom she has 6-year-old twins — clearly relied on GPS data from her iPhone to claim that she had “spent several hours with her boyfriend while he was at the hospital after an incident on Oct. 14, 2015.”
In an application to the judge, Resnik sought and won permission to have all of Coulson’s electronic devices impounded on the grounds that he may have been able to read some 202 emails to her from Felder’s firm.

Liberal Columnist Criticizes Trump For His Divorces and Support From Christians

What is the alternative? Trump is the only one who speaks out against the destruction of the United States, a Christian nation, which tolerates all other religions. Through invasions of non Christians, who refuse to assimilate,  the United States will become an intolerant nation like so many others.

[From article]
Trump is a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them. He clearly determined that the only way to win the Republican nomination was through an appeal to the conservative evangelical vote. Despite his multiple divorces and remarriages, longtime support for abortion rights (until recently) and prideful self-aggrandizement, Trump has emerged as the favored candidate of evangelical voters.

[From article]
A 54-year-old dentist who was run over by a car and then stabbed to death over the weekend was identified Monday as Xuan Liu.
On Saturday about 1:20 p.m. Liu was walking with a woman in a small parking lot at 4980 Barranca Parkway, between Lake Road and East Yale Loop. He was seen by Hongli Sun, 38, who was driving a Mercedes SUV which police say he then drove into Liu.
When he attempted to stand after being struck, Sun used a knife to stab him and the woman who attempted to intervene, officials said.
Liu died in the parking lot at 1:32 p.m., according to coroner’s office officials.
Sun told police he suspected Liu was having an affair with his wife.
Court records show that Sun filed for divorce with Huaying Chen on Sept. 22, citing irreconcilable differences. He asked the court for custody of their 7-year-old son.

Unhappy Texas Gentleman Shoots at Dallas Police Station, Brings Bombs

James Lance Boulware

[From article]
The suspect's father, Jim Boulware of Carrollton, said his son had blamed police for losing custody of his own child, who is now in middle school.
But despite previous threats of violence, he said he never expected anything like Saturday's events.
"He blames the police for taking his son away from him," Jim Boulware said. "I tried to tell him that the police are just doing their job."
[. . .]
"We think he was specifically targeting officers," Brown said.
Brown said police were able to contact the man after he made a long, ranting 911 call.
Brown said that once the man became agitated and cut off negotiations after hours of on-and-off talks, SWAT made the decision to shoot him.

Bill O'Reilly Allegedly Dragged His Wife By Her Hair Down Stairs, Caveman Style

[From article]
Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly is alleged to have physically assaulted his ex-wife by dragging her down a staircase by the neck, according to evidence heard during a bitter court battle over custody of their two children.
A hard fought three-year custody dispute between O'Reilly and ex-wife Maureen McPhilmy finally ended last month when a Nassau County Supreme Court justice granted custody of the couple's two kids to their mother.
During the closed hearing a court-appointed forensic examiner testified that daughter Madeline, who is now 16, claimed she had witnessed her father dragging her mother down a staircase by her neck, reports Gawker.

Apple CEO Sued By Wife For Hiding Assets During Divorce

John Sculley

[From article]
The man who famously fired Steve Jobs from Apple, John Sculley, is being sued by his ex-wife of 32 years, Carol Lee Sculley, who claims he “secretly and furtively” hid more than $25 million of his assets when they divorced.

Carol Lee Sculley

Sculley — the former Apple CEO who reportedly now has a net worth of $200 million — settled his divorce with Carol, known as Leezy, in 2011. But she sued him in Palm Beach in 2013 claiming he “lied” to her and the court, “submitted a false financial affidavit . . . and failed to fully and honestly disclose his assets.”
According to the court papers, Sculley had claimed that their total marital assets at the time of their separation in 2010 were $4.8 million. But he allegedly didn’t disclose “substantial private equity investments and investments in privately held companies and ventures around the globe.”

While RICO was enacted in 1970 “to get to corrupt families under the name of the Mafia, there’s a certain symmetry [with divorce cases] because oftentimes . . . you have the corrupt spouse in cahoots with others, often family members or paramours,’’ said family-law expert Michael Stutman.
Patricia Cohen, the ex-wife of billionaire Steven Cohen, pioneered the tactic in 2009.

Divorced Couples Live Together Due to Housing Expenses

Eugene Moye’s wife can’t afford to leave their rent-controlled apartment on the Upper West Side until a divorce settlement is reached. The pair do not talk.
Photo: Michael Sofronski

[From article]
Levy and Lipman are just one of many couples in the city who are living together after their romantic relationships expire, mostly due to financial situations and the high cost of New York housing.
“The current scarcity of real estate options in New York City for people going through a litigated divorce often makes co-habitating the only viable option,” says Todd Spodek, divorce attorney and partner at Spodek Law Group in Tribeca.
“Plus, if you voluntarily move out and can support yourself, your claim for [spousal] support is diminished.”
[. . .]
Ten blocks south of the Beresford, things are far from harmonious at the three-bedroom, rent-controlled apartment of cellist Eugene Moye, a member of the American Symphony Orchestra, and his wife, Gail Kruvand, a bass player and member of the on-hiatus New York City Opera orchestra.
[. . .]
“My wife and I don’t talk,’’ says Moye. “She still lives here, but we stay in different rooms and act like ships passing in the night. Our friends say the notion of she and I in the same apartment at this point is inhuman, but it’s been too expensive for Gail to find another place.”
[. . .]
Caroline Riley and her boyfriend Steven, who asked that his last name not be used for professional reasons, share the bedroom of their apartment near Yankee Stadium, even though they split up two years ago.

Lawyer Used Hypnosis To Obtain Sex From Women Clients

[From article]
The probe of Michael Fine, 57, was detailed yesterday in an emergency court motion filed by the Lorain County Bar association, which is seeking an immediate suspension of the lawyer, who has been practicing for more than 30 years.
According to the court records, a second woman recently told police that she believed that Fine sought to hypnotize her during meetings in his office (where the pair discussed the woman’s divorce case).
[. . .]
After being told by cops that “more definite evidence” was needed, the woman recorded her next two telephone conversations with Fine, and provided the tapes to police. As described by Thomas, one of the October recordings begins with a discussion of the woman’s court case, “but when Fine learns she is alone, he places her in a trance.” What follows, Thomas noted, “is of an explicit sexual nature, wherein he induces her into multiple orgasms.”
The bar association motion charges that Fine (pictured above) used “code” words to induce “Jane Doe” to “enter a trance-like stage.” While his client was hypnotized, Fine told her that she was “being made love to by the world’s greatest lover” and that he was her “teacher.” The attorney also assured “Jane Doe” that she “will appear normal and only remember their discussions regarding legal matters,” Thomas stated.
[. . .]
In seeking Fine’s immediate suspension, the Lorain bar association argues in its Ohio Supreme Court that the attorney “poses a substantial threat of serious harm to the public.” Fine is married to a court reporter and is the father of two daughters.

George Soros' Son In Pre-Nup Divorce Battle

Meredith Ostrom

Seems like these men attract women who love money.

[From article]
Billionaire George Soros’ eldest son, Robert, is going through an increasingly messy divorce after he cheated on his wife, Melissa Robin Schiff, with model and “naked artist” Meredith Ostrom.
Robert, deputy chairman and president of the $28 billion Soros Fund Management, filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years in Manhattan Supreme Court in May.
But sources tell us that Schiff is arguing their prenup is “ambiguous” in order to go after potentially billions of dollars of Robert’s personal wealth.
One source told Page Six: “One of the reasons Robert filed for divorce was that he was already seeing Meredith well before their marriage ended.
“The current battle is over their old and archaic prenup. Many of the provisions in it appear to be ambiguous. Melissa believes she can go after a large portion of his wealth, which could extend to billions of dollars.”

Billy Joel Learned About Love The Hard Way

“You just need one — one person out of millions — to know and accept and love you for being, well, just the way you are . . . I see old folks walking down the street who look like they’ve been together 50 years, and there’s something very touching about it — that they’ve lasted so long. I used to wonder: How come I don’t have that? I can dream about it, think about it, write music and lyrics and sing about it. I can even try to achieve it again, and often have.”
His three tortured marriages — and the music they’ve inspired — are testament to that.
[. . .]
“You can have all the money in the world, you can have mansions, you can have properties, you can have yachts, you can have limousines, you can have motorcycles,” he told Schruers. But without love, “it doesn’t mean a goddamn thing.”

Thrice Married Fiance of OR Governor Married Another Man for Immigration Card

[From article]
Hayes married Abraham B. Abraham in July 1997, when he was 18 and she was 29, she said in an emailed statement Thursday afternoon. They were introduced by mutual acquaintances, met only a handful of times and never lived together, she wrote.
"It was a marriage of convenience," Hayes wrote. "He needed help, and I needed financial support."
Hayes, whose engagement to Gov. John Kitzhaber this summer followed their own 10-year relationship, wrote that she was paid about $5,000, enough to buy a laptop and pay for school expenses. In an emotional press conference at 4 p.m. Thursday, Hayes added that she did not declare the income in her taxes.
[. . .]
I was struggling to put myself through college and was offered money in exchange for marrying a young person who had a chance to get a college degree himself if he were able to remain in the United States."
Hayes has said she was on her own at 16, couch-surfing and struggling to finish high school after her parents fell into a tangle of mental illness and alcoholism. Growing up in rural western Washington, Hayes earned academic and athletic scholarships to Evergreen, where she earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree.
[. . .]
Washington court records show that Hayes filed for divorce from Abraham B. Abraham in a King County court on Oct. 26, 2001. Abraham turned 23 that month; Hayes was 34.
Hayes court records show two previous divorces – from Todd Hayes on March 28, 1989 and from Doug McCarthy on Dec. 17, 1996.
She said Thursday that she has not had any contact with Abraham since their divorce was finalized in February 2002. Not long after the divorce, Abraham went on to graduate magna cum laude with a degree in mathematics from Greensboro College in North Carolina. He currently owns a two-story home in a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Woman Free From Abusive Husband, Who Refuses Religious Divorce

[From article]
A young Orthodox Jewish mother claims today she bravely fled an abusive and controlling husband and reveals the years of physical torture and mind games she says she endured as she fights to free herself as an ‘Agunah’ - chained wife - from the bonds of their religious marriage.
Rivky discovered on her wedding night aged 18 that Yoel Weiss, the ‘charming and spiritual’ man she believed she had married, was a violent and malevolent force who took pleasure in watching her suffer.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Rivky Stein repeats claims made in court papers and explains how her naivety led her into her nightmare marriage.
At her home in Brooklyn, Rivky, now 24, said: ‘From the first night, I knew I was trapped. He changed to who he really was. He made it very clear to me that he owned me. His mentality was that I was his possession and that anything he said I had to do.'
Immediately the marriage turned into one of fear and control with Weiss monitoring Rivky’s every move, she claims.

EXCLUSIVE - 'Raped, tormented and locked in a room to starve with her two babies': The shocking claims of a young Jewish mother who found the courage to flee her husband but is still 'chained' because he refuses to grant religious divorce
Rivky Stein was 18 when she wed Yoel Weiss, then 26, in an Orthodox Jewish ceremony. He promised a matchmaker $18,000 to arrange the marriage
She says was locked away in a room with her two children. 'We got roughly two meals a day, normally reused chicken soup'
during one alleged rape, Rivky told MailOnline: 'He comes in naked and said "let’s go". I said no, so he took my hands, twisted them behind my back and dragged me to our bedroom'
Weiss refuses to give Rivky a 'get,' or religious divorce
Refusal by husbands to grant their wives a get is a widespread issue in the Orthodox Jewish community
In the summer of 2012 Rivky escaped with the clothes on her back and her children and has obtained an order of protection against Weiss

NY Gov. Spitzer's Wife Settles Divorce

[From article]
Other perks of the 56-year-old's deal include a new car 'no more than every five years', a housekeeper, accountant, unspecified 'entertainment and activities expenses', a $100,000-per-year charity donation and a part-time assistant.
Mr Spitzer will also take care of his former wife's medical insurance and health care.
Although the multimillionaire does not have to pay child support to Silda for their daughters - Elyssa, 24, Sarabeth, 21, and Jenna, 19 - he must take care of 100 per cent of their medical, dental and college expenses.
The former couple agreed to shared use of their $5million upstate New York farm. However the divorce agreement states that the 'choice of visitors' cannot cause their daughters any emotional distress or embarrassment.
The Spitzers divorce was finalized in February this year and it was agreed that Silda would receive the first $1million within 180 days.
Another $1million will follow on the service of their divorce judgement and then at least $500,000 ever year unless the former politician decides to pay his ex a lump sum.
The annual $240,000 maintenance payment will come to Silda after her former husband has paid the taxes. It will continue until she either remarries or dies.
[. . .]
Eliot Spitzer, who is worth an estimated $46million, comes from a real estate fortune built by his father Bernard Spitzer.
He had earnings of $4.2million for 2012 while Silda Wall Spitzer brought home $112,000 as an executive at NewWorld Capital Group, a private equity firm investing in new energy.

Divorcing Dad Throws 3-year-old Son and Self From NYC High Rise

[From article]
Dmitriy Kanarikov, 35, of Brooklyn was supposed to hand over his 4-year old son to his estranged wife at a Manhattan precinct amid a bitter custody dispute between the couple, sources said.
Instead, the systems developer went to the top of the South Park Tower, across from St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital on West 60th Street, with his son, Kirill, and pitched the boy to his death before making his own fatal leap.
A source said Kanarikov, an immigrant from the Ukraine, may have had a friend who lived in the building.
