A Rockland County village meeting devolved into a scene out of Maury Povich on Tuesday night when a resident accused the mayor of using his “power” to have sex with his wife.
Reginald Alfred, a 48-year-old maintenance man, took the microphone at the meeting and began sharing details of how Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme was a homewrecker who ruined his 12-year marriage, according to video recorded by The Journal News.
“He destroyed my house. He destroyed my family. I have two daughters,” he said during a 15-minute shouting fest that riled up city officials and other residents in the audience.
When another resident in the audience asked Delhomme if he knew Alfred’s wife, the controversial mayor yelled, “I know everybody in this community. I don’t know the person.”
He vehemently denied the claims while holding his phone that was recording the confrontation, yelling, “I don’t know this man. I’ve never met this man.”
Alfred went back up to the mic at least one more time, calling the mayor a “liar.”

The site claimed 37 million users, which, if true, would be an enormous percentage of America's married population. (That would be roughly half of all married people between the ages of 25 and 55. (Which sounded incredibly implausible.)
And now we know that Ashley Madison's claims were implausible. An investigation of the site's user database found that there were 31 million profiles for men. However, only 20 million male "users" ever bothered to check their Ashley Madison message box even once, and only 11 million male users ever engaged the website's chat function, even once. A lot of people clearly just signed up out of curiosity.
The database also shows that there were 5.5 million women on Ashley Madison-but when reporter Annalee Newitz drilled down into their user profiles, an astonishing number of these women appear to be fakes-that is, dummy accounts created by the Ashley Madison staff to make it look like there was a pool of women looking for action. And by "astonishing," I mean that it looks like the number of real, live women using the site was somewhere between 1,500 and 10,000.
Which suggests that Ashley Madison might have been the greatest internet scam, ever. They suckered a couple million guys into paying a boatload of money to have affairs with women who were nothing more than sockpuppets of Ashley Madison employees.

These were married men looking to have affairs. They were never going to risk public exposure by trying to go after the site for scamming them. It's the online dating equivalent of robbing a drug dealer.

A 54-year-old dentist who was run over by a car and then stabbed to death over the weekend was identified Monday as Xuan Liu.
On Saturday about 1:20 p.m. Liu was walking with a woman in a small parking lot at 4980 Barranca Parkway, between Lake Road and East Yale Loop. He was seen by Hongli Sun, 38, who was driving a Mercedes SUV which police say he then drove into Liu.
When he attempted to stand after being struck, Sun used a knife to stab him and the woman who attempted to intervene, officials said.
Liu died in the parking lot at 1:32 p.m., according to coroner’s office officials.
Sun told police he suspected Liu was having an affair with his wife.
Court records show that Sun filed for divorce with Huaying Chen on Sept. 22, citing irreconcilable differences. He asked the court for custody of their 7-year-old son.

A judge in Tokyo ruled Monday that having an affair with someone who’s married cannot be considered adultery if it involves the exchange of money.
“Even if the wife is disgusted by the act, it does not constitute a legal offense,” Judge Masamitsu Shiseki said after ruling that a bar hostess who had a seven-year affair with a rich businessman could not be blamed for breaking up his marriage.
“The defendant had sexual relations with her patron only for business . . . and such conduct does not damage peaceful marital life,” Shiseki wrote in his ruling.
“Many club hostesses, as is well known, engage in ‘pillow business,’ and these ‘pillow business’ sales, which are similar to prostitution, involve no more than engaging in sex for the purpose of satisfying their customers’ sexual urges.”
