The Washington Free Beacon has put together a video montage of Obama using his catchphrase, “it’s not who we are” 46 times.
The video editor, David Rutz, observes:
Not unlike his warning to political opponents that they may be on the “wrong side of history,” the expression is useful in its ability to shut down conversation and seize a moral high ground, however imaginary.
Obama has deployed the term to convince the country of his rightness on immigration, Obamacare, education, national security and not voting for Mitt Romney, among other important issues to his presidency.

Since there is little flexibility in his thinking, “not who we are” is likely to be used even more to delegitimize his opponents as his term in office runs down, his popularity sinks, and he becomes ever more desperate to stifle mounting criticism.

MSNBC has admitted that highly controversial graphics aired on the network that depicted Israel as stealing land from the Palestinians were “factually wrong” and that the broadcast would be corrected on Monday, according to a network spokesperson.

The cable news network has been fighting off criticism after it aired the graphics and analysis, including a map linked to conspiracy groups branded as anti-Semitic, that portrayed Israel as existing on territory expropriated from Palestine.

The graphics garnered criticism from pro-Israel advocates and has now prompted the network to acknowledge that the graphics were highly misleading.

“In an attempt to shed light on the geographic context of the Israeli-Palestinian issue, we aired a map that was factually wrong,” the spokesperson said on Sunday.

Fletcher, a Middle East analyst, said on Sunday that the map and analyses were “dead wrong.”

MSNBC broadcast images suggesting that Israel has stolen most of its land from the Palestinians since the Jewish state’s creation in 1948. The images promoted by the network have long been criticized by scholars and anti-Semitism watchdog groups as anti-Israel propaganda.

The maps closely resemble propaganda disseminated by anti-Israel organizations that support boycotts of the Jewish state and aim to portray it as stealing land once belonging to Palestine, a state that has never formally existed.

“On the left is the selfie Christopher Mercer uploaded to his social media,” the Conservative Treehouse reports. “On the right is how CNN presented the same selfie in broadcast stories about him. Why did CNN need to change the complexion (color) of their broadcast?”

CNN also did not show photos of Mercer’s mother, who is black.
The reason CNN altered the photo is obvious: the race of Mercer does not fit the narrative that only white males — and thus white supremacist — can be mass shooters.
A black male shooter is incompatible with the racist Black Lives Matters class warfare agenda pushed by the liberal establishment and its propaganda media.
On Friday, a CNN correspondent, Pamela Brown, cited writings allegedly penned by Mercer where he “rambled about his hatred toward black men,” thus portraying him as a racist or possibly a white supremacist.
The Los Angeles Times also portrayed Mercer as a white supremacist:
A federal law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said, though, that authorities had obtained some of Harper-Mercer’s writings, as well as a note he left behind, suggesting that he supported white-supremacist causes and opposed organized religion.

Bad enough to write irrational essays. For an alleged responsible newspaper to print it shows how ridiculous the standards are today for prominent journalists. In a brief public discussion with R.W. Apple at a Neiman award ceremony he argued that there was a responsible and an irresponsible press. I challenged him and he brushed me off. The LA Times to him was responsible. Recently the Daily Beast, which merged with Newsweek (another "responsible" press), printed an essay saying that black people cannot be racist. Huh? Chu, a Harvard Neiman Foundation fellow is not the first Neiman man (or Harvard man) who published misguided irrational politically correct speech.

Chu specifically invokes the Nazi regime's policy but then abruptly declares that there is no comparison. What Chu did in just the opening lines of his puzzling article was to downplay, intellectually and morally, the legacy of the Holocaust. Chu thoughtlessly imputes Lebensraum to Europe's embrace of refugees – a remarkable absurdity, even for the L.A. Times. The slightest reverence for history would prevent a moderately informed person from drawing connections this absurd.



By the words not "exactly parallel or equivalent to the horrors of the Second World War," Chu means to say that nothing occurring in Europe is remotely similar to Nazi policy. Nonetheless, he saw fit to throw in the Nazi references. There is absolutely no intelligible relation between National Socialism and the well-meaning bureaucrats processing migrants throughout Europe today. Chu, with a growing chorus of like-minded leftist reporters, thus engages in a patent abuse of history.

Probably without searching very far, Chu located just such a mind: a "community leader" in Rome named Ruth Dureghello, who said of the written numbers, "It is an image we cannot bear, which brings to mind the entry procedures at Nazi extermination camps, when millions of men, women and children were marked with a number, like animals, before being sent to their deaths."

Orban, unlike Hitler, does not suggest that a subset of Hungarian citizens be rounded up on the basis of their religion, deported, and then exterminated. Instead, he is voicing concern about an influx of non-citizens who have forced themselves into Europe. The migrants are not Hungarian citizens, and they generally do not face deportation, much less extermination. Orban does not appear to believe that he has any moral obligation to destabilize his society in order to accommodate cross-border population flows.

One may be tempted to dismiss Chu's article as the ahistoric musing of a leftist hack, eager to score a few rhetorical points by invoking the Holocaust. Yet, according to Chu's L.A. Times bio, he attended Harvard and was selected as a Nieman Fellow there. How could it be that such a background could produce reasoning so spurious, with such disregard for factual accuracy?

Wait. Why has everyone withheld the settled law and unquestioned fact, that the unarmed black gentleman had his hands up during the entire encounter, even when he fell to the ground holding the cat, or was it the cat food? The violent encounter happened last Thursday. CBS news in San Francisco started the tsunami of coverage by calling for the arrest of the security guard who administered the beating on a black man who was doing nothing more than just trying to buy a few groceries.
Soon hundreds of news sites around the world picked up the story:

“Private Security at Whole Foods Brutally Assaults Black Male ,” said the Atlanta Star.

After the clerk scanned all the items the customer tried to pay with an EBT card. The clerk told him he has to pay for the household goods in his basket with cash, because they are EBT ineligible items. The customer had beer, soap, and cat food along with his food items.
The black man got very irritated and asked for a manager. A manager came to the register and told the man that it is illegal to use an EBT card for the purchase of the non-food items in his cart. The black man started swearing and throwing all the cat food on the floor, breaking one of the containers and spilling it on the floor. The security was called to escort him out of the store. The black man spit in the security guards face, and that is when the altercation took place.

He argued with the Cashier (a black woman) and slapped and spitted in her face when his EBT card was declined. He then punched another employee in the face. He then spit in the face of the manager (also a black man), then broke open cat food and dumped it on the floor. Then the guard (also a black man) was called. A customer was asked to leave. He kept spitting in the guards face and that's when he was physically removed. The "witness" in the video is a social justice warrior that has one of those dubious doctorates in "African studies" degrees and ties to look for racism where none is present. Everyone involved in this situation is black. A customer, the cashier, the manager and the security guard - are all black.

What Ann Coulter fails to recognize is, it isn't about truth or facts. She and others are focused on seeking truth and revealing it to others. The networks, media journalists, PR flacks, and partner politicians are focused on promoting propaganda. If someone utters or publishes any conflict with their propaganda it becomes offensive and must be censored along with the speaker. After many years of infiltrating corporations and government offices the totalitarians are now speaking as if they are loyal Americans. But they are focused on promoting the feminist therapeutic state which is all about manipulating people by their emotions. They marginalize reason and logic and appeal to emotions. One recent example is the mass murder in South Carolina. The horror and outrage of ordinary Americans was used to attack the Confederate flag and all things Southern. It shows how mobs can easily be formed and manipulated. Mobs cannot be controlled which is the object of many of these deceivers and manipulators. Anyone ask why the White House and the previous Attorney General were not concerned with these effects and enabled much of it?

In each instance, the actual trend of 60 years of data had been dramatically reversed, so that a cooling trend was changed to one that showed a marked warming.
This was only the latest of many examples of a practice long recognised by expert observers around the world – one that raises an ever larger question mark over the entire official surface-temperature record.

Government Officials Distort Reality to Explain Misguided Policies

The American electorate is not stupid about Obamacare… at least not all of us. [. . .] Lies, false dichotomies, logical fallacies, quid pro quos, backdoor deals -- you name it -- all were used as tools to pass it. If it was deceptive, underhanded, self-serving and/or illogical, it was added to the Democrats’ bag of tricks. The rallying cry was lies, lies, and more lies -- anything to pass this bill! It was blatant. It was in-your-face. It went on and on. It was amazing to behold. The Democrats were large and in charge. They were in their own utopic bubble and nothing and no one was going to get in their way – including “We, the People”, the majority of whom have opposed the law since its passage.

What the people received, however, was a whole lot more than they bargained for -- a complete monstrosity of a bill, a convoluted, litigious mess that usurped a huge portion of the economy. It was filled with penalties, fees, mandates, and various taxes on both individuals and businesses. Yet, somehow, someway it was supposed to lower costs. Guess what? That didn’t happen.

So, where was the mainstream media in all of this? Oh, they were around. They just weren’t doing their job very well. Most of the time, they failed to conduct any due diligence.

Now that the public is faced with the truth of what their government thinks of them, thanks to Gruber (who was paid approx. $400k for his stellar work), the only explanation the Democrats can offer is either 1) Gruber lied (yes, accuse the liar of lying when the lie is discovered!) or 2) everyone does it.
The ‘everyone does it’ argument is the very last refuge for the morally-challenged

Today, after several decades of being taught distorted history, every field has been infected by Marxist trained ideologues. What makes it so nefarious is that they do not even realize they are the purveyors of the distortions, myths, and lies that are destroying the greatest economic and political system ever created by man.

During a later and larger riot in Chicago, Mayor Richard J. Daley went on television to inform all and sundry that he had given orders to his police to "shoot to kill" arsonists — provoking outraged denunciations across the country.
The number of people actually killed during that riot was less than a third of the number killed in kinder and gentler Detroit the following year, even though Chicago had a larger population.
Do you prefer that fewer people get killed or that kinder and gentler rhetoric and tactics be used?
[. . .] These talking points are often based on a prevailing social vision, rather than on hard facts. According to the prevailing vision, ghetto riots are due to racial injustices — and the way to deal with them is to make concessions in words and deeds, while severely restricting the use of force by the police.
Factual evidence cannot make a dent in that vision.

Postmodernist relativists claimed that things like "truth" were mere fictions to preserve elite privilege. Unfortunately, bad ideas like that have a habit of poisoning an entire society -- and now they have.
Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis was recently caught fabricating her own autobiography. She exaggerated her earlier ordeals, lied about the age at which she divorced and was untruthful about how she paid for her Harvard Law School education.
When caught, Davis did not apologize for lying. Instead, she lamely offered that, "My language should be tighter."

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren for years falsely claimed that she was a Native American. That fabricated ancestry proved useful in upping her career trajectory. When pressed about her racial background during her 2012 campaign, the Harvard law professor denied any deliberate misrepresentation and went on to be elected. Such progressive crusaders assume that they serve the greater truth of social change.

as secretary of state, Clinton dismissed the circumstances surrounding the murders in Benghazi with the callous exclamation, "What difference does it make?" She had a postmodern point. The same theme was repeated endlessly by President Johnson. The purpose of the "war on poverty," he said, was to make "taxpayers out of taxeaters." Its slogan was "Give a hand up, not a handout." When Lyndon Johnson signed the landmark legislation into law, he declared: "The days of the dole in our country are numbered."
Now, 50 years and trillions of dollars later, it is painfully clear that there is more dependency than ever.

Massive "sex education" programs were put into schools, claiming that this was urgently needed to reduce a "crisis" of teenage pregnancies and venereal diseases. But teenage pregnancies and venereal diseases had both been going down for years.
The rate of infection for gonorrhea, for example, declined every year from 1950 through 1959, and the rate of syphilis infection was, by 1960, less than half of what it had been in 1950. Both trends reversed and skyrocketed after "sex education" became pervasive.

Maybe that is why there are so many fact-free arguments on the left, whether on gun control, minimum wages, or innumerable other issues — and why they react so viscerally to those who challenge their vision.

The suffragists who famously met at Seneca Falls, N.Y., were ardent advocates for life. They didn't mince words. Elizabeth Cady Stanton condemned the "murder of children, either before or after birth." Alice Paul, who crusaded for the Equal Rights Amendment, called abortion "the ultimate exploitation of women." Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, as Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser pointed out in her review of pro-life feminism, was horrified by the abortion industry and the women who enabled it:

Cuomo insists he "respects" all of the people he dumped on last week. Yet, he continues to willfully mischaracterize their positions and smear them as dangerous haters. It's telling that he employs the partisan pejorative labels "anti-gay" and "pro-assault weapon" alongside "right to life." As if endorsing the "right to life" is in itself an act of bigotry or a horrific, unspeakable crime.
There are no do-overs: Cuomo rolled out the unwelcome mat and announced a new state of intolerance. His undemocratic extremism is as extreme as it gets.

The really big lie -- and one that no amount of hard evidence or logic seems to make a dent in -- is that those who oppose raising taxes on higher incomes simply want people with higher incomes to have more money, in hopes that some of their prosperity will "trickle down" to the rest of the people.
Some years ago, a challenge was issued in this column to name any economist, outside of an insane asylum, who had ever said any such thing. Not one example has yet been received, whether among economists or anyone else. Someone is always claiming that somebody else said it, but no one has ever been able to name and quote that somebody else.

But none of this matters to Barack Obama. If class warfare rhetoric about taxes leads to more votes for him, that is his bottom line, whether the government gets a dime more revenue or not. So long as his lies go unchallenged, a second term will be the end result for him and a lasting calamity for the country.
