Snowflakes at Williams College Melt After Leftist Rant About Hurt Feelings

Today's college students having been taught in high school to hate America, and to ignore the US Constitution have no clue that the purpose of the First Amendment is to protect speech you hate. They are more concerned with not hurting feelings or claims about hurt feelings than learning the truth. This will not have a good ending.

Williams College students invited Suzanne Venker, a writer and longtime critic of feminism, to speak Tuesday night, but changed their minds and took back the invite for her talk, "One Step Forward, Ten Steps Back: Why Feminism Fails."
Venker had been invited to participate in a student-run, alumni-funded speaking series at Williams called "Uncomfortable Learning." The program’s purpose is to expose students to controversial voices and opinions they might not otherwise hear. Many of the speakers tend to be conservative or people whose views don't square with those of most students.

The students who run the series decided to cancel the event, co-president Zach Wood explained, after its Facebook page began to attract acerbic comments and “things got a little out of hand.”
The page has since been deleted, but one comment, which Wood quotes in an article he posted, said, “When you bring a misogynistic, white supremacist men’s rights activist to campus in the name of ‘dialogue’ and ‘the other side,’ you are not only causing actual mental, social, psychological and physical harm to students, but you are also -- paying -- for the continued dispersal of violent ideologies that kill our black and brown (trans) femme sisters … you are dipping your hands in their blood, Zach Wood.”
The concern, Wood explained, was that “people would get riled up while she was speaking,” maybe even throw things, and there wasn’t time before the event to organize security. “You never know,” he said. “We’re just trying to think ahead here. The last thing we wanted to do was do something destructive.”
Still, Wood said, “If it was just my decision, I would have brought Venker to campus …. Suzanne Venker’s views are views that are held by millions of Americans whether we like it or not, and if we want to push back against them, we have to try to understand them.”

Many critics of academe say that speakers are routinely disinvited to campuses for having conservative views. In some of the most prominent of these cases, speakers, hearing of protests planned, have withdrawn. In this case, the invitation was withdrawn after student backlash over the speaker's political views. The decision was made by student organizers, not the college, as Venker initially charged.

MENCKEN, H.L.: "The men that American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest the most violently are those who try to tell them the truth."

What Ann Coulter fails to recognize is, it isn't about truth or facts. She and others are focused on seeking truth and revealing it to others. The networks, media journalists, PR flacks, and partner politicians are focused on promoting propaganda. If someone utters or publishes any conflict with their propaganda it becomes offensive and must be censored along with the speaker. After many years of infiltrating corporations and government offices the totalitarians are now speaking as if they are loyal Americans. But they are focused on promoting the feminist therapeutic state which is all about manipulating people by their emotions. They marginalize reason and logic and appeal to emotions. One recent example is the mass murder in South Carolina. The horror and outrage of ordinary Americans was used to attack the Confederate flag and all things Southern. It shows how mobs can easily be formed and manipulated. Mobs cannot be controlled which is the object of many of these deceivers and manipulators. Anyone ask why the White House and the previous Attorney General were not concerned with these effects and enabled much of it?

Do the first grade math. Two million newly insured at a cost of $2.6 trillion equals $1,300,000 per person! How does that qualify as “Affordable” health care?

In fact, ACA takes money for Medicare services to pay for federal bureaucracy. It also takes large chunks of money out of your wallet, without you knowing: seventeen new-but-hidden taxes or increased ones already in force.

Current estimates range from as low as 350,000 lost jobs to as many as 2.6 million “able-bodied adults [who will] drop out of the labor force.” How is this a “smashing success” or something to be “appreciated”?

Even as CoveredCalifornia (The Golden State’s ACA Health Exchange) signed up 1.3 million new Medicaid enrollees, California doctors, or at least 70 percent of them, said they could not afford to care for ACA-insured patients. Reimbursements were below their cost of staying in business. So, more insured persons and fewer doctors to care for them. Sounds like the average person will experience what our veterans are used to at VA Hospitals.

Everyone has the right to express his opinion. Celebrities and professional athletes are not the only ones being fooled by propaganda broadcast by public and private organizations. The trick is to separate the truth from the lies.

Then we had NAACP President Cornell William Brooks on CBS's "Face the Nation" saying it was “unfair” to link the NYC killings, by Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, to Obama, Holder and Bolshevik Bill de Blasio.

“Hands up, don’t shoot!” It’s a lie made meme by contemptible manipulators. There was never good reason to believe it described the facts of the Mike Brown shooting, but, as liberal teachers boasting about “not just teaching facts” have made clear, facts can’t compare to useful fiction. And even once forensic evidence and witness testimony exposed conclusively that “hands up” was made up, liberals — even congressmen on the House floor — kept repeating it, saying it was a “symbol” of a wider struggle, a “metaphor.” It doesn’t matter that it’s not literally true.

That’s “defending while white.”

But leftists couldn’t care less about right and wrong; all that matters is winning, as they define it.
Note that there are low-information occasional voters who to this day believe Brown was on his knees when his criminal career was ended.

But the idea that words don’t matter is an expedient of the moment, like the notion that “character doesn’t matter” was when the left wanted Bill Clinton elected, or the idea that truth doesn’t matter is whenever the left wants anything. They don’t really believe it.

Were it otherwise, corporations wouldn’t spend billions to influence people via advertising, courses in rhetoric wouldn’t exist, sappy suckers wouldn’t have been fainting at early Obama speeches (now they just don’t show up) and he wouldn’t be in a bigamous relationship with a Teleprompter, and Hitler wouldn’t have been able to move masses with oratory.

They care that something is “racist,” “sexist” or “homophobic,” as they define it at the moment.

Today it’s the sea of illegals surging across domestic borders, quickly whisked into the country, whereas overseas we’re informed the world’s first terror-state is being implemented between Iraq and Syria. Yesterday, it was the trading of 5 Taliban generals for an army deserter. Tomorrow it could be any number of currently unfathomable decisions by Barack, knowing full well the GOP does not have the stones to impeach him.

Judge Richard Posner, in Public Intellectuals, A Study in Decline, claims that a large problem in the failure of public intellectuals is their overspecialization at the university. But more important than this is Julien Benda’s claims that intellectuals must refrain from bias when disseminating information. Yet the most obvious aspect of most public intellectuals is their very obvious affection for Marx’s ideas.

Ben Knights, in The Idea of the Clerisy in the Nineteenth Century, outlines the foundation for the modern intellectual. In 19th century England developed the notion of a secular intellectual elite, or ‘clerisy’. These educated writers sought to be freed from former constrictions. Instead, like the members of a new, secular priesthood, they sought to find transcendent values and the very best in national culture and then pass it on to the society at large.

How is it possible so many prominent intellectuals are ignorant or dismissive of history? No Marxist nation has ever prospered except in lawlessness and murders. For example, no real background study of Barack Obama’s life was ever commissioned by any liberal media group before his election. We still have many major holes in his story.

So the obvious question is what kind of failure would be enough for the mainstream media to abandon ship? Or is all failure which is seen as harming the US really acceptable [. . .] in past ages intellectuals (clercs) engaged in a disinterested search for universal truths; they searched for ideals that transcended the needs of the state or society in which they lived. In recent times, however, intellectuals have become more and more the handmaiden of political and national causes [. . .] Our age is indeed the age of the intellectual organization of political hatreds. It will be one of its chief claims to notice in the moral history of humanity. Ever since these systems have been in existence, they have consisted in establishing for each passion that it is the agent of good in the world and that its enemy is the genius of evil. But today these passions desire to establish this not only politically, but morally, intellectually and aesthetically.”

Where a professional historian pursues an academic career, the amateur seeks after the truth. Ignorant of taboos, the amateur can follow the trail of evidence to wherever it leads and discovers things which, according to the academic conventional wisdom, are best left untouched and unsaid.

Did all these people (the glorious FDR administration) really conduct the Second World War in the interests of Western democracies, or was it in the interests of Comrade Stalin? Having declared that war to defend the freedom of Poland, the Western democracies ended it by surrendering Poland and a dozen other nations to a totalitarian empire worse than Hitler’s. Was that really a victory? Above all, was that outcome inevitable, or did it, to a greater or lesser extent, result from the work of the Soviet agents of influence in the positions of power in the West?

if some 80 years later we find the Western Establishment to be utterly corrupt, we should know what has corrupted them.
The Left have learned a lot since the times of Duranty and Agitprop. They no longer try to argue with such books as Mrs. West’s. They no longer try to sue us for libel in the courts of law. They quietly assassinate such books well in advance, by confidential e-mails to publishers and editors. In rare cases when that does not work and the book is out, they simply ignore it and wait for another crisis in the Middle East, or the release of the next series of the latest blockbuster, or mid-term elections, to distract the public attention from everything else. They simply let the dangerous revelations sink in the massive flood of information that overwhelms today’s readers.

The “consensus” is that Soviet agents of influence had no real influence, that FDR was a great patriot and war leader, and that Stalin’s occupation of half of the world was the best possible outcome of the war. On these points, it has emerged, the "conservative" and "liberal" academics have no disagreements. All their disagreements are about how exactly to explain away the facts that do not fit into their “consensus," and how exactly to suppress dissent.

In the best traditions of those campaigns, most of the eminent critics attacked the book without ever reading it, and some of them even admitted this. Come to think of it, one hardly needs to read a book in order to accompany any mention of it with a garland of epithets such as “awful”, “embarrassingly kooky”, “poorly conceived”, “ill-informed”, “conspiracy-mongering”, “preposterous”, “incompetent”, and “dishonest”, and to insult the author in similarly intelligent expressions, including positive assertions that Mrs. West is insane (pity Professor Lunz is no longer with us).

The difference is no greater than between a "liberal" academic liar and a "conservative" one.

Some of us here are talking about truth and lies. And this, perhaps, is precisely what annoys the academics, whose monopoly on writing history depend upon the half-truths of the "consensus."

There is another danger in attacking books without reading them.
[. . .]
It is in the nature of a totalitarian regime to try and corrupt not only its own society, but anybody within its reach. This is how they conquer the world. Communism has corrupted greater men than a few arrogant academics. Indeed, the academics turned out to be one of the easier targets.

As a ‘community’, they are bound together with their corrupt colleagues, and have to defend their collective monopoly against intruders. It is for a very long time that they have been no more than a self-serving nomenklatura, caring nothing about the truth, but only about their own elevated positions. Like politicians. Like the media. Like the rest of the modern world.

To them, the history of that battle has been no more than a comfortable job. They never saw establishing the truth about it as a sacred duty we owe to the memory of millions of victims; but merely as a matter for “gentlemanly give-and-take” between "liberals" and "conservatives," leading to a sound academic consensus.

A nice, endless debate with no practical conclusions– just what the academics need.

Diana West, with her “reckless” discoveries, has jeopardized their comfortable world.

The sheer number of their academic degrees bears witness to their infinite knowledge. It is just that they lacked honesty and courage to tell us the truth.
Clearly, history is far too important to be left to the historians.
