Forty Percent of London Population Born Outside UK, Openly Muslim Mayor Elected

[From article]
In London, the religion of the Labour candidate for the city’s mayor became an issue only when his Conservative opponent made it one, by attempting to link his rival to Islamist extremism in a campaign criticised as divisive and racist.
Abroad, however, it seems the faith and family background of Sadiq Khan is seen through a somewhat different prism: in much foreign media coverage of the elections, it was more important than his politics.
[. . .]
Le Monde went out of its way to note that Khan, “the son of an immigrant bus driver from Pakistan”, described his moderate Islamic faith as “part of my identity” – adding that his opponent Zac Goldsmith was “the son of a Franco-British billionaire of Jewish origin”.
Khan’s religion was prominent in media coverage of the election in the Netherlands, where Ahmed Aboutaleb has been the Muslim mayor of the country’s second largest city, Rotterdam, since 2009. The headline of the authoritative NRC Handsblad was: “The green millionaire v the leftwing Muslim”, while the right leaning De Telegraaf chose simply: “London could get its first Muslim mayor”.
In Germany, Süddeutsche Zeitung remarked – although not in its headline – that London seemed on course for its first Muslim mayor, while Switzerland’s Le Temps noted that the duel between the sons of “a billionaire, and a bus driver” could see the city becoming “the first European capital to be run by a Muslim”.
[. . .]
in a city in which almost 40% of residents were born outside the UK, and whose Muslim population makes up 12% of the total (and more than 30% in some boroughs), the popular image of Pakistan was more usually to do with corner shops and academic excellence.
But perhaps the most striking example of how differently much of the world sees London – and the importance of religion – from the way the city plainly sees itself came from the US, where Donald Trump caused uproar with a call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country.

Europe Will Soon Have More Muslims Than Christians

[From article]
Muslims will soon outnumber Christians in Europe, a Belgian minister has claimed.
Speaking at a hearing into the Brussels attacks, Koen Geens said the European Community may not realise it “but this is the reality”.
His comments were followed by Belgian deputy prime minister Jan Jambon warning against Europeans “making an enemy of Islam” describing it as “the worst thing we can do”.
Speaking at the EU Parliament, Mr Geens said: “In Europe, very shortly we’re soon going to have more practising Muslims than practising Christians.”
“That is not because there are too many Muslims, it is because Christian are generally less practising¿ Europe does not realise this, but this is the reality.
Mr Jambon then added: “I’ve said a thousand times, the worst thing we can do is to make an enemy of Islam. That is the very worst thing we could do.
[. . .]
Elsewhere in his speech, Mr Geens said: “terrorists are using Viber, WhatsApp, Twitter, Skype or Facebook to communicate with each other."
He told EU lawmakers that in the past governments could rely on telecommunications operators to cooperate with investigators, but that social media firms haven't been as forthcoming.
Mr Geens said "communication with these providers is far from optimal, and that has been a major obstacle for the investigations."
He said "the EU needs to step in urgently to coordinate national responses and a discussion with providers."

Decline of Christianity Drives Decline of Europe and The United States

[From article]
“The vast majority of leading conservative writers … have a secular outlook on life. … They are unaware of the disaster that godlessness in the West has led to.”
These secular conservatives may think that “America can survive the death of God and religion,” writes Prager, but they are wrong.
And, indeed, the last half-century seems to bear him out.
A people’s religion, their faith, creates their culture, and their culture creates their civilization. And when faith dies, the culture dies, the civilization dies, and the people begin to die.
[. . .]
Today, no great Western nation has a birthrate that will prevent the extinction of its native-born. By century’s end, other peoples and other cultures will have largely repopulated the Old Continent.
European Man seems destined to end like the 10 lost tribes of Israel — overrun, assimilated and disappeared.
And while the European peoples — Russians, Germans, Brits, Balts — shrink in number, the U.N. estimates that the population of Africa will double in 34 years to well over 2 billion people.
[. . .]

As G. K. Chesterton wrote, when men cease to believe in God, they do not then believe in nothing, they believe in anything.
As European elites ceased to believe in Christianity, they began to convert to ideologies, to what Dr. Russell Kirk called “secular religions.”
For a time, these secular religions — Marxism-Leninism, fascism, Nazism — captured the hearts and minds of millions. But almost all were among the gods that failed in the 20th century.
Now Western Man embraces the newer religions: egalitarianism, democratism, capitalism, feminism, One Worldism, environmentalism.
These, too, give meaning to the lives of millions, but these, too, are inadequate substitutes for the faith that created the West.
For they lack what Christianity gave man — a cause not only to live for, and die for, but a moral code to live by, with the promise that, at the end a life so lived, would come eternal life. Islam, too, holds out that promise.
Secularism, however, has nothing on offer to match that hope.
[. . .]

When, after the fall of the Roman Empire, the West embraced Christianity as a faith superior to all others, as its founder was the Son of God, the West went on to create modern civilization, and then went out and conquered most of the known world.
The truths America has taught the world, of an inherent human dignity and worth, and inviolable human rights, are traceable to a Christianity that teaches that every person is a child of God.
Today, however, with Christianity virtually dead in Europe and slowly dying in America, Western culture grows debased and decadent, and Western civilization is in visible decline.

[. . .]

Vladimir Putin, who witnessed the death of Marxism-Leninism up close, appears to understand the cruciality of Christianity to Mother Russia, and seeks to revive the Orthodox Church and write its moral code back into Russian law.
[. . .]
With Christianity excommunicated from her schools and public life for two generations, and Old and New Testament teachings rejected as a basis of law, we have witnessed a startlingly steep social decline.
Since the 1960s, America has set new records for abortions, violent crimes, incarcerations, drug consumption. While HIV/AIDS did not appear until the 1980s, hundreds of thousands have perished from it, and millions now suffer from it and related diseases.
Forty percent of U.S. births are out of wedlock. For Hispanics, the illegitimacy rate is over 50 percent; for African-Americans, it’s over 70 percent.
Test scores of U.S. high school students fall annually and approach parity with Third World countries.
Suicide is a rising cause of death for middle-aged whites.
[. . .]

C.S. Lewis

“How small, of all that human hearts endure, That part which laws or kings can cause or cure,” wrote Samuel Johnson.
Secular conservatives may have remedies for some of America’s maladies. But, as Johnson observed, no secular politics can cure the sickness of the soul of the West — a lost faith that appears irretrievable.

White People Will Be Minority in United States

[From article]
In late 2015, the Pew Research Center came out with a population projection that "non-Hispanic whites are projected to become less than half of the US population by 2055."
Similarly, during 2014, researchers working with U.S. Census Bureau data claimed that non-Hispanic whites would fall into minority status by 2045.
In fact, the U.S. Census Bureau data suggests that this event will almost assuredly happen far earlier than these estimates, likely by 2025 if current trends continue. The non-Hispanic white and Hispanic populations are expected to subsequently cross at about 35% each in the early 2040s.
The estimate of the rapidly falling non-Hispanic white percentage is probably conservative (i.e., the actual decline is much steeper than shown above), as the census data likely underestimates the large numbers of dominantly Hispanic illegal immigrants already in the country that would further lower the non-Hispanic white proportion.

Pew: Muslims Fastest Growing Religious Group

[From article]
In April 2015, the Pew Research Center released a study titled “Why Muslims are the world’s fastest-growing religious group.”
Pew reached the following conclusion, [. . .] “The expected growth of Islam around the world is perhaps the most striking finding in the recent Pew Research Center report projecting the future of religious groups. Indeed, Muslims will grow more than twice as fast as the overall world population between 2010 and 2050 and, in the second half of this century, will likely surpass Christians as the world’s largest religious group.”
[. . .]
Europe and North American are experiencing the most rapid rates of Islamification by population growth. Between 2010 and 2015, the fertility rates of Muslims exceeded that of non-Muslims by 40% in Europe, 35% in the Asia-Pacific region, 30% in North America, 24% in sub-Saharan Africa, and 15% in the Middle East and North Africa.

Solution to Divided Population Is Not to Unify Them. Solution Is To Teach Respect and Tolerance For Other Views

The proposed solution to polarization of the population is not to force conformity. Disagreeing may be extreme. But respect and tolerance for dissenting views makes for robust, exciting, interesting and thought provoking debate. Few Americans have ever been challenged with opposing arguments. Fewer were taught to respect people who disagree with them. Encouraging dissent is what leads to truth.

[From article]
The narrative builds upon the all too apparent fact that there is great discontent and polarization inside the country. No one contests this conclusion. However, the framing of the narrative is turning everything upside down.
The narrative presents the scenario of two poles. The first pole is made up of those who are well-off, successful, and educated. They live in healthy families, and in good neighborhoods with excellent schools, which isolates and buffers them from the rest of America.
[. . .]
On the other side is an underclass composed of those who are poor, uneducated, and neglected. They live in broken families, and in poor neighborhoods with horrible schools. They are joined by blue-collar workers who have lost jobs to immigrants and outsourcing to places like China. They live on the margins of society and are isolated from the other pole.
The two sides share little in common save an increasing animosity. This never-the-twain-shall-meet narrative can be found in Charles Murray’s compelling book, Coming Apart, or in Robert Putnam’s Our Kids. Pundits and columnists repeat and echo versions of this portrayal in diverse media.
[. . .]
The proposed narrative to explain the present electoral cycle would not be based on the battle of the haves versus the have-nots. Rather it holds there is a universal moral crisis that is devastating all society. It is not just polarizing but shattering the nation and its economy into a thousand pieces.
[. . .]
Both groupings see their families being destroyed through divorce and general breakdown. All share in the immoral movies, fashions, drugs, and promiscuity that recognize no class and ravage a social fiber where people no longer pray. Structures across the board are crumbling whether they be governments, families, institutions, or customs.
[. . .]
The narrative that should govern the debate should be one of unity, not division. It should be directed at the moral problems of this universal crisis, not against fellow Americans. The surviving ramparts of the nation’s moral establishment should be fortified, not torn down. People need to return to God as the center of our lives, not the federal government. These are the issues that few dare to mention in the present political circus, but they lie deep within the souls of so many Americans who grieve for the nation.

Cambridge, MA City Council Approves Basement Apartments With Lower Ceilings

Cambridge, MA City Council January 2016

Curious arguments by omniscient politicians. Earlier the argument was Inspectional Services could not enforce current laws, but new laws would be enforced. Now the issue is flooding? Harvard University took three residential units off the market contrary to their promise due to frequent flooding. Last week my kitchen sink drain backed up with dirt blocking the drain. This is another example of lack of critical thinking by Cambridge Councilors. Increased population density does not improve quality of life. What are they thinking?

Geert de Wilders, May Be Next Dutch Prime Minister, Calls To Close Borders To Syrian Migrants

'The only way to deal with it (the refugee crisis) is to regain our national sovereignty and close our national borders,' Wilders said

[From article]
The best way to deal with Europe's growing refugee crisis is to close national borders to stop an 'Islamic invasion', Dutch anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders says.
As the popularity of his far-right Freedom Party (PVV) skyrockets amid Europe's largest movement of migrants since World War II, Wilders has his sights set on becoming the next prime minister of the Netherlands in elections due in 2017.
'The only way to deal with it (the refugee crisis) is to regain our national sovereignty and close our national borders,' Wilders said.

Middle East Migrants Signal End Of European Civilization

[From article]
There is a profound irony that as waves of Muslim migrants press into Germanic Europe, that the very civilization they are now undermining was created in a series of migrations seen by the civilized people they replaced as an invasion. And just as Germanic tribal movements proved inexorable against the politically, economically, and morally weakened Roman state (at least in Western Europe), it appears (barring dramatic reversals of policy and will) that the ongoing wave of Muslim migration will inevitably replace European civilization as we know it. Even more worrisome, if history is any guide, this will happen long before Muslims become a majority there.
[. . .]
While today’s Muslim immigrants to Europe don’t outwardly resemble the Germanic migrants of old, there are a lot of similarities between the two migrations, which, given the outcome of the former, does not bode well for Europe today.
[. . .]
Roman elites had long lost the spirit to fight, while some, doubting the worthiness of their own long-lived culture, had come to admire their adversaries as more wholesome and pure than their own corrupted society. Even where Roman leaders did not admire the Germans, they bribed tribal leaders for alliances, hired them, and invited them into Roman territory.
[. . .]
But mostly, the Germanic migrants were quickly able to dominate new lands because they were tough, decisive, and aggressive, while the existing populations and their leaders were passive, disorganized, and confused.
Compare this to Europe today. Although the total number of Muslim immigrants may seem small against existing populations, this is misleading. They are moving into lands where substantial Muslim minorities already exist, and where asylum laws will allow them to bring in large numbers of relations. Muslim immigrants also have much higher birthrates than Western Europeans, who welcomed earlier waves of migrants as laborers. So demographically, things are in the migrants’ favor.
[. . .]

Germans were able to dominate new lands because they were more motivated, more determined, and more aggressive than the resident populations. This dynamic is evident in Europe today, where Muslims steadily and forcefully push their agenda within new homelands, erecting giant mosques, creating Islamic-dominated no-go zones, and instituting sharia law.
[. . .]
Refusing charity they deem inadequate, they push for more, even to the point of destroying what’s given to them. They refuse to abide by the simplest of civilized conventions, such as using a toilet (much the way the ancient Germans wrecked public sanitation and defecated in fine basilicas.) The migrants happily stand by while their new hosts clean up after them. The mostly passive response of Europeans to these outrages, marching in peaceful rallies and calling for togetherness, will be laughed off by these new migrants, whose culture, mores, and objectives are at odds with this liberal post-national idealism.
[. . .]

Europe is in the thrall of a kind of vague, loosely held, atheistic social humanism, which is probably incapable of resisting the adherents of the strictest, most doctrinaire monotheistic system ever devised, Islam, which literally means “submission.” Whereas the ancient migrating Germans, beginning with their elites, universally converted to the existing monotheistic system, in Europe today it is working in the opposite way.
[. . .]
European elites are likely to increasingly adopt Islam. Their ready, even enthusiastic adoption of Muslim positions with respect to Israel, and to a lesser extent the United States, are a sign of worse things to come.
The key historical point to recognize is that focusing on demographics, while important, ignores the fact that relative population size is not decisive. If current trends continue, Islamic politics and culture will dominate Europe long before Muslims reach a demographic majority,

Lasting Cultural Changes To Society From Baby Boomers

Dance party: The development has gobbled up more than 20,000 acres (8,094 hectares) of pastureland, hay fields and vegetable farms in three rural counties, dominating most of the historic small towns nearby in both size and population.

[From article]
U.S. baby boomers have been on the planet for nearly 70 years, long enough to reshape almost every aspect of American life. Rock culture, consumerism and political activism are part of their legacy.
So too are the lasting changes they've made to the landscape. The modern American suburb was carved out of the unspoiled countryside around established cities to serve as the boomer nursery. As many boomers remained there to raise their own families, suburbs sprawled outward exponentially, plowing under the forests, farmland and natural habitats and covering the land with asphalt and lawn turf.

Hispanic Population Influence Growing In U.S.,

[From article]

A study of the growing Hispanic immigrant population declares that the country is on the verge of the "Latinization of the United States," a "browning of America" that by 2050 will be 29 percent Latino — and politically influential.
Published in the authoritative journal "Ethnicities," the immigration analysis by two California experts noted that while big states such as California and Florida are home to most Hispanics, there has been a recent growth surge exceeding 300 percent of mostly Mexicans to Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina and Arkansas.
The analysis is focused on how to economically handle the surge so that Latinos do not get left behind — or out of the middle class. The numbers and characterization of the new immigrants spells out the influence of the Hispanics.

Most Violent American Cities, Have Majority Black Population

[From article]
I expect this post to inspire many charges of “racism” from the grievance mongers, but facts are facts – and facts cannot be flung aside via racial rhetoric.
Anyway. Earlier this week, Business Insider published a report that cataloged the world’s 50 most violent cities. While most of the cities are located in Central/South America and Africa, four of them happen to be located here in the good ol’ USA: St.Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans and Detroit.
I hate to be the guy to point this out, but every single one of those cities contains a black-majority population.
Cue the United States Census Bureau:
Dominant demographic in St. Louis: Black @ 46.9% (source)

Dominant demographic in Baltimore: Black @ 63.3% (source)

Dominant demographic in New Orleans: Black @ 60.2% (source)

Dominant demographic in Detroit: Black @ 82.7% (source)

Here’s my question, though – does this mean anything? Does this signify some sort of trend? More importantly, thus this suggest that perhaps there is merit to the thinking that racial profiling exists for a legitimate reason?
I refuse to delve too deep into this myself because it’s a bit too much for me. But I do encourage the rest of you all to discuss it in the comments.

Italy "A Dying Country"

Beatrice Lorenzin, the minister of health, has called Italy “a dying country"
Photo: Elisabetta Villa/Getty Images
[From article]
Italy’s birth rate has fallen to its lowest level since the foundation of the modern state in 1861, prompting fresh alarm in a society that has been steadily ageing for decades.
The number of births per 1,000 people has fallen to just 8.4 per cent, down from 38.3 per cent when Italy’s territories and kingdoms were unified a century and a half ago.
In Britain and the United States, the figures are 12 per cent and 13 per cent respectively.
Last year 509,000 babies were born in Italy, 5,000 fewer than in 2013.
[. . .]
Beatrice Lorenzin, the minister of health, said: “We are at the threshold where people who die are not being replaced by newborns. That means we are a dying country.
"This situation has enormous implications for every sector: the economy, society, health, pensions, just to give a few examples."

New York State Losing Influence in Congress Due To Loss of Population

Empire State Building

[From article]
It was a habit of Pat Moynihan’s, indeed almost an obsession, to chart the state’s decline.
As a senator, he was especially interested in its representation in Congress. In 1850, New York’s 33 members of the House of Representatives comprised 14 percent of the entire House, and even as late as 1940, when Pat was a boy, the figure was still 10 percent: 45 members out of the total of 435. Today, after the census of 2010, New York has only 27 Representatives in the House—a mere 6 percent of the whole.
[. . .]
Today’s New York has lost the preeminence not only in baseball but also in politics, sending to Washington and placing in Albany a drab lot of pols, to say nothing of the Big Apple’s new mayor. Falling from third to fourth in population was inevitable given the growth of the Sun Belt, and New York will never have more baseball teams than California (it’s now five to two). But maybe the days of Roosevelt and La Guardia, Koch and Giuliani, can be recovered.

Disparities Work Two Ways

[From article]
Another gross statistical disparity is despite the fact that Jews are less than 3 percent of the U.S. population and a mere 0.2 percent of the world's population, between 1901 and 2010, Jews were 35 percent of American and 22 percent of the world's Nobel Prize winners.
[. . .]
For example, is it possible that Jews are doing things that sabotage the chances of a potential Indian, Alaska Native or Mexican Nobel Prize winner? What about the disgraceful lack of diversity in professional basketball and ice hockey? There's not even geographical diversity in professional ice hockey; not a single player can boast of having been born and raised in Hawaii, Louisiana or Mississippi.
Courts, bureaucrats and the intellectual elite have consistently concluded that "gross" disparities are probative of a pattern and practice of discrimination. Given all of the differences among people, such a position is pure nonsense.

Ebola Czar Advocates Reducing Population

[From article]
Klain says he wants to “make the world work for everyone" and believes too many people, especially on continents like Asia and Africa, are having a negative impact on the planet’s ecosystem. Medina concurs. The former whaling Commissioner says the continued extraction of oil and fish is unsustainable unless we learn how to stop depleting the earth’s resources. The couple, who live in a $1.8 million home in Chevy Chase, warn us that the outlook for the rest of mankind is dismal if we do not take overpopulation and dwindling food supplies seriously.
[. . .]
Obama’s appointment of a man with no medical expertise had pundits stumped, but it makes a tad more sense now. As one of the global elites obsessed with overpopulation, an outbreak of a deadly disease in West Africa is a perfect vehicle for Klain. He can now push an agenda that has occupied the ruling class for over a century. Prince Philip once remarked, “If I were reincarnated I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.” Is Klain set to morph into our first official “population control czar.”

Northeast Loses Political Power Due To Population Loss

[From article]
While the states from Pennsylvania to Maine had 141 House members in 1950, they are down to 85 today, a drop of some 40 percent.
California and Texas combined have more House representatives..
“This result is one of the most dramatic demographic shifts in American history. This migration is shifting the power center of America right before our very eyes. The movement isn’t random or even about weather or resources. Economic freedom is the magnet and states ignore this force at their own peril,” said the report.

Bronx Was Worse Off Than Detroit, and Turned Around Its Decline

[From article]
The South Bronx has become much safer—to an extent barely imaginable a generation ago. In 2013, the 41st precinct suffered just two murders, compared with more than 100 each year during its Fort Apache days.
[. . .]
In 1985, under Mayor Ed Koch, New York launched a major housing initiative that would spend $5 billion on renovations and new construction, with the South Bronx being a prime location for the investment.
[. . .]
The area’s 40.2 percent poverty rate is only slightly better than Detroit’s 41.5 percent. And 60 percent of households with related children are headed by single mothers, a figure that hasn’t budged in 30 years. Sixty percent of South Bronx residents are on Medicaid. Though the teen pregnancy rate has declined, drug addiction remains entrenched.
[. . .]
Detroit may not have hit rock bottom yet
[. . .]
The most important lesson that Detroit can derive from the South Bronx’s experience is that things can get better. Many despaired over the South Bronx’s future during the 1970s out of conviction that New York City was ungovernable. How could a city incapable of preventing 14-year-olds from defacing subway cars be expected to revive a neighborhood resembling post-World War II Berlin? But the skeptics were wrong, as more effective government—as opposed to simply less or more—proved central to New York’s epic crime decline and many other municipal improvements.

Iran Parliament Bans Permanent Contraception, Wants More Babies

Iran's Parliament

[From article]
Iran's parliament has voted to ban permanent forms of contraception, the state news agency IRNA reported, endorsing the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's call for more babies to be born.
The bill, banning vasectomies and similar procedures in women, is parliament's response to a decree Khamenei issued in May to increase the population to "strengthen national identity" and counter "undesirable aspects of western lifestyles".
Doctors who violate the ban will be punished, the IRNA reported.

Listen How I Do, Not As I Say. I Mean, You Know What I'm Saying?

A dumbed down electorate gets the dumbed down representatives it elects. In his book about the Clintons, Partners in Power, Roger Morris observes that in recent years the preferred candidates are weak with relaxed rectitude. Look around you. It is not complete yet. But most of them are. Not just public officials and not just elected officials. Appointed, corporate and academic leaders too.

[From article]
Congressional approval ratings are at a historic low, and after what has happened over the course of the last twenty four hours – I can see why. On the House floor Wednesday, longtime Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee made the startling claim that “We did not seek an impeachment of President Bush, because as an executive, he had the authority.”
These are the moments when you say “Really?”
The problem here is that Rep. Lee lied to the American People inside the People’s House. Good thing for her that when you make speeches on the floor of the House of Representatives you are not under oath or under the threat of perjury. Perhaps that should change, but that’s another debate for another day.
Lied? Well back in 2008, Rep. Lee co-sponsored House Resolution 1258 entitled “Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors. “
[. . .]
I was transferred to a gentleman on Lee’s staff. When I again asked him about the contradiction and stated that perhaps I was confused, the man said “Oh look it here, we have one of those right wing, tea-bagger nut jobs on the phone taking his cues from FOX News.”
He then accused me of being un-American, raising his voice at me while asking me to calm down, and telling me that I am just on some mission to destroy our country. When I calmly asked for his name, he said “I don’t have to give it to you because I don’t want to show up on some right wing blog and be on your Twitter account.” Keep in mind, I never said who I was – he just made assumptions and attacked me. When I reminded him that he gets paid by our tax dollars, he said “I doubt you even pay taxes and the IRS will find you soon enough,” and hung up on me.
Was that a threat from Rep. Lee’s staff to use the IRS as a weapon against citizens for just asking questions?
Astounded at what happened, I called back and asked to speak to the Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Lee because I had been treated rudely and threatened. After being transferred, another nice gentleman said “This is the Chief Counsel, you have 15 seconds.”
