Autism Is A Growing Business, Like Psychiatry

[From article]
During July 2008, nationally syndicated talk show host Michael Savage ignited a firestorm with his comments about autism, calling it "a fraud, a racket."
In follow-up statements, Savage explained his views as being "meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community's attempt to label too many children or adults as 'autistic.'"
While Savage's language was blunt, his concerns over the gross over-diagnosis of autism are valid.
Of course, the U.K. banned Savage from entry, in no small part because of his controversial views on autism, proving -- yet again -- that British governments, both Labour and Conservative alike, are incapable of tolerating serious critical and controversial thoughts.
The autism lobby is very vocal, and their intimidation of politicians -- especially in the center of the political spectrum, which is always most susceptible by manipulation from pseudoscience -- has been intense. But when a lobby is so hysterical, that is reason to question its motives and validity.
[. . .]
In a 2008 article from the peer-reviewed journal "Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities" -- which apparently used to be titled "Mental Retardation" before the thought and speech police outlawed this term -- Charles Holburn from the New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities cites some troubling statistics. Several decades ago, the autism rate among children was 1-in-14,300. It rose to 1-in-150 by 2002. Now it is just 1-in-45 if we use the latest 2014 data.
As many researchers have noted, the increase in the rate of autism often comes with a corresponding decline in the rate of other intellectual disabilities, which undercuts the credibility of those claiming autism is a discrete affliction, and that there is some type of "autism epidemic." Holburn goes on to clearly enunciate the core moral hazard/slippery slope problem exemplified by pandering to the autism lobby: "If there is more funding available for autism services, clinicians may be predisposed toward the diagnosis if it brings the child in contact with more services."
In other words, bad parenting and other problems that lead to developmental challenges in children get replaced by an autism diagnosis. Those who clearly have terrible parenting skills -- feeding their children (and themselves) all sorts of junk food, a family life riddled with over-stimulation, etc. -- subsequently blame their faults on some mysterious ailment that, inevitably, does not reflect back on their failings as parents.
[. . .]
There is even some evidence, although very weak at this point, in the scientific literature that diet is related to autism.
Now add in the hyper-stimulated online world and spastic social culture to these parents and kids already suffering massive dietary deficiencies, and a recipe for disaster awaits.
Common sense in the field of public health has gone out the window. Savage was getting at this, albeit with statements that were designed to shock.
[. . .]
Autism has become a poorly defined catchall dumping ground for children with various challenges. Some of these challenges are real; some are not. Some are hereditary, some result from environmental factors outside the control of parents, and large number of them perhaps are just the result of bad parenting.
We need to better determine where fault lies, and start punishing the parents financially for their poor decisions. The rest of the public should not be held responsible for the parenting deficiencies of a screaming lobby throwing blame on everything but where it truly lies -- themselves. Scarce public resources should only go to responsible parents. The irresponsible ones can pay for their own mistakes.

University of Massachusetts Rape Expert's Research Questioned

Political consultants extended the presidential campaign season to 4 years, 24/7, 365 days each year in order to increase not only their earnings, but also their control over what the candidates say and think. They dictate the policies and positions of the candidates. This should have been clear after the presidential elections of 2008 and 2012. Both times the Republican candidates should have won but for their campaign advisers.
Then there are consultants hired by local, state and federal governments, and even corporations to select leaders, and to create guidelines for programs and public policies.
Many of the consultants are academics, professors, researchers, etc. It is common knowledge that police, FBI agents, politicians, lawyers and doctors are corruptible. Lawyers and journalists are exposed as having intimate financial incentives from crime families or individual criminals. It is more difficult for ordinary civilians to believe that psychiatrists can be employed by the same criminal organizations. So the next question is why not academics? Why are they never employed by criminal organizations? Do any of the above mentioned professionals have access to the law enforcement apparatus? Police, FBI etc? So why not also to the criminal organizations as doctors, lawyers and journalists do?
Thus these "academic" studies, which are cited as the basis for public policy and for congressional committees to write laws, must be scrutinized. The objective of this specific law by the Education Department is to exercise control over student sex lives. The police already have extensive training and resources to prosecute crimes against women. Thwarting due process protections and thinking that college administrators with no experience or training in law no less criminal law will adjudicate criminal complaints in a rational manner raises the question what could go wrong? Here is an example.

[From article]
A college professor’s research on campus sexual assault that was used by the Obama administration to justify sweeping action on college sexual assault has been called into question in a pair of articles published by Reason magazine.
David Lisak, a retired psychology professor who taught at the University of Massachusetts Boston, has for years been regarded as one of the top academic experts on the matter of sexual assault on campus.
[. . .]

The biggest problem with Lisak’s work? While it’s a landmark study in the understanding of campus sexual assault, the data wasn’t actually about campus sexual assault at all. Lisak didn’t gather the data himself, but instead used data collected during four other studies conducted by masters and doctoral students at the school who passed out surveys to male passerby on the campus. The surveys themselves weren’t focused on the matter of sexual assault, and on top of that nothing was done to ensure those taking the survey were college students.
Not only that, but UMass-Boston, where these surveys were handed out, is a commuter school with no on-campus housing and a high proportion of non-traditional and part-time students. The average age of respondents to the surveys Lisak relied upon was 26 years old (one-fifth were over 30), with ages ranging from 18 to 71. According to one former student who helped collect the data, a high proportion of respondents were from working-class backgrounds and many were first-generation college students. The survey asked them about their general behavior, not how they acted on-campus or around other students.
In other words, Lisak’s supposedly systematic research into rape on campus was simply based a series of surveys given to men who happened to be passing around a single atypical college during a certain span of time.
“There is not a single statement in the paper about assaults taking place on or near a campus; there is not a single reference to the campus environment,” LeFauve writes.

LeFauve’s own research raised even more questions about Lisak’s methodology. Lisak claimed he conducted follow-up interviews with most of those he classified as serial predators, a claim LeFauve found suspicious because, when Lisak conducted his work in 2002, the data was several years old and much of it had been collected anonymously. When asked how he’d managed to interview these people, Lisak hung up on LeFauve without giving an answer. If Lisak is being at all deceitful about how he conducted his study, it would throw the reliability of the entire paper into doubt.
[. . .]
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Lisak to see if he has a response to Reason’s criticism, and has not received a reply.

Government Censors Statistics On Vaccine Court Web Pages

[From article]
Recent Rise in Vaccine Victims’ Court Decisions and Concessions Not Reflected in Revised Government Chart
In March, the federal government removed the latest vaccine injury court statistics—more than a year’s worth of data—from one of its publicly reported charts. It was an abrupt departure from the normal practice of updating the figures monthly.
Wiping the latest data means the “adjudication” chart on a government website no longer reflects the recent, sharp rise in court victories for plaintiffs who claimed their children were seriously injured or killed by one or more vaccines.

Since January of 2014, twice as many victims have won court decisions than the previous eight years combined. In these court decisions, a judge ruled the evidence showed vaccines “more likely than not” caused the plaintiff’s injuries.
Also on the rise is the number of vaccine injury cases the government has “conceded”: up 55% in a little over one year.
As a result of the recent website changes, neither of these trends is reflected on the current “adjudication” chart.
[. . .]
Only about one injury case for every million doses of vaccines is compensated in vaccine court. Adverse events occur more frequently, according to vaccine warning labels, but rarely end up in the little-known vaccine court. Still, vaccine court statistics can be useful in reflecting trends.
The number of flu vaccine cases conceded by the government since January of 2014 is more than double the previous eight years combined. The adjudication chart only reflects half of the current number.
[. . .]
Since 1988, over 15,916 claims have been filed in vaccine court. 4,083 were compensated; 9,893 were dismissed. The total amount of money paid to victims is approximately $3.1 billion.

Disparities Work Two Ways

[From article]
Another gross statistical disparity is despite the fact that Jews are less than 3 percent of the U.S. population and a mere 0.2 percent of the world's population, between 1901 and 2010, Jews were 35 percent of American and 22 percent of the world's Nobel Prize winners.
[. . .]
For example, is it possible that Jews are doing things that sabotage the chances of a potential Indian, Alaska Native or Mexican Nobel Prize winner? What about the disgraceful lack of diversity in professional basketball and ice hockey? There's not even geographical diversity in professional ice hockey; not a single player can boast of having been born and raised in Hawaii, Louisiana or Mississippi.
Courts, bureaucrats and the intellectual elite have consistently concluded that "gross" disparities are probative of a pattern and practice of discrimination. Given all of the differences among people, such a position is pure nonsense.

Homosexuals Much More Likely To Get HIV Than Non Homosexuals

[From article]
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly “Morbidity and Mortality” report shows that among persons newly infected with HIV in 2010, 63 percent were men who have sex with other men. Among Americans living with HIV, 52 percent were MSM – and a significant number of men with HIV are not receiving treatment.
“Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) represent approximately 2 percent of the United States population, yet are the risk group most affected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),”

Citing Statistics To Persuade

"Hyman cited increased reports of sexual misconduct, which could reflect higher rates of misconduct or an improved reporting system, among other factors." And these reports are from where? Politicians, joined by spineless university administrators enjoy quoting imaginary statistics which the governor would call "anecdotes," in order to remain focused on receiving taxpayer funds. Sexual assault has been cut by nearly two-thirds since 1995 according to Bureau of Justice Statistics. What is the source of the former provost's citation?

Rand Corp. Questions Health Care Signup Numbers

[From article]
A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data.
One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact.

White House Deception (What Else Is New?) On Deportation Figures

[From article]
Fully 98 percent of individuals deported from the United States in 2013 were either criminals, apprehended while illegally crossing the border, or had been previously deported, according to a new analysis from Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).The three-page document, labeled a “Critical Alert” by the senator’s office, found three executive actions by President Barack Obama providing amnesty to groups of illegal aliens meant that virtually no one who did not meet other criteria beyond simply being in the country illegal was deported.

"If a person told the Labor Department surveyors that he was so bummed about the job market that he hadn’t looked for work in a year, he would officially become a non-person.

if the employment situation got bad enough, people would drop out of the labor market and the unemployment rate would start to look better — even if it really wasn’t.

Government Reports Unreliable, Misleading

[From article]
"Last week, Buffett said, "we are still in a recession" when the subject came up on CNBC.

That was right after the National Bureau of Economic Research declared that the recession officially ended in June, 2009.

In declaring the recession's end, NBER provided an enormous amount of material for late night comedians, cartoonists and even folks like Buffett, who can't seem to get their stories straight.
[. . .]
The Journal last week explained that household debt is declining not because people are paying their bills. Instead, debt is receding because of defaults -- people can't pay their bills, so this debt is being wiped off the books."

Obama, Summers and Statistics

[From article]
"Larry Summers went on CNBC and -- unchallenged by any of its journalists -- said that past blizzards had caused the government to report a monthly loss of 100,000 to 200,000 jobs.

Well, Wall Street figured Summers actually knew what he was talking about, although it would have been the first time.

And President Obama figured he'd side with Summers by claiming that the snowstorms "had a depressing effect" on the jobs figures.

learn to accept the inconveniences of old age."

SHIP HIM OFF TO CANADA OR ENGLAND!

He is "elderly" himself but be sure to remember his health insurance is
different from yours as Congress has their own high-end coverage! He
will never have to learn to accept "inconveniences"!!!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the
private business sector prior to their appointment to
the cabinet.
