The government has unveiled a new incentive program to encourage working women to have more children, in a bid to avoid the decline of the Turkish population.
Under the new plan, the government is pledging 300 Turkish Liras for a couple's first child, 400 liras for the second, and 600 liras for the third, while easing conditions for new mothers to return to their jobs after maternity leave.
[. . .]
“The protection of our family life under any circumstance is of great importance for the protection of future generations, fundamental norms, our values and moral standards,” Davutoğlu said, adding that the government’s program aimed to bring about new measures to help working mothers.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described efforts to promote birth control as "treason", saying contraception risked causing a whole generation to "dry up", reports said today.
Erdogan made the comments on Sunday, directly addressing the bride and groom at the Istanbul wedding ceremony of the son of businessman Mustafa Kefeli, who is one of his close allies.
He told the newly-weds that using birth control was a betrayal of Turkey's ambition to make itself a flourishing nation with an expanding young population.
[. . .]
The President- who has two sons and two daughters- has angered feminist groups for declaring that every woman should have three children and saying that women are not equal to men.
[. . .]
Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu, a doctor with two children, had at the weekend also caused controversy by declaring pregnant women did not have the right to decide how they would deliver their child.
"It is the duty of the midwives and the doctors to prepare them for the birth. The patients cannot say 'I want a Caesarean'. They don't have such a right," he said.

Iran Parliament Bans Permanent Contraception, Wants More Babies

Iran's Parliament

[From article]
Iran's parliament has voted to ban permanent forms of contraception, the state news agency IRNA reported, endorsing the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's call for more babies to be born.
The bill, banning vasectomies and similar procedures in women, is parliament's response to a decree Khamenei issued in May to increase the population to "strengthen national identity" and counter "undesirable aspects of western lifestyles".
Doctors who violate the ban will be punished, the IRNA reported.

Democrats Mislead and Confuse Voters About Hobby Lobby Court Decision

[From article]
The ACA contraceptive mandate requires that the 20 covered birth-control methods be provided without “any cost sharing requirements.” This means they must be covered at 100 percent of expense, with no copay or deductible. Cancer drugs, on the other hand, are subject to copay and deductible requirements under Obamacare. This discrepancy epitomizes the deterioration of American liberalism from Hubert Humphrey to Sandra Fluke—from a focus on life-and-death struggles of ordinary working people to a preoccupation with sex. From the time Humphrey and Harry Truman first proposed some form of national health-care system, Democrats have spoken movingly, and with some justification, about the plight of those hit with the catastrophic costs of a serious illness or injury—middle-class Americans sitting up nights, worrying about how to pay their medical bills. But no one is worrying about how to pay for birth control pills—not when a month’s supply costs $9 at Walmart.

"On Wednesday, Limbaugh unleashed a lengthy and often savage verbal assault on Fluke.
"What does it say about the college coed ... who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex?" Limbaugh said. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex."
He went on to suggest that Fluke distribute sex tapes of herself.
"If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it," he said. "We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."
[. . .]
"I think this is hilarious, absolutely hilarious," he said on his show. "The left has been thrown into an outright conniption fit!"
On Friday, still defiant, Limbaugh [said] "Amazingly, when there is the slightest bit of opposition to this new welfare entitlement being created, then all of a sudden we hate women! We want 'em barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen," he said. "And now, at the end of this week, I am the person that the women of America are to fear the most."

"“At one time months ago, we considered taking AshleyMadison.com because we know that Bill Clinton listens to this program. So we know one member of the audience cheats on his spouse. Did so in the Oval Office. And in an attempt to perhaps include everybody, we thought maybe we would help out, but we decided no. We didn’t know anybody else in this audience who cheats on their spouse besides Bill Clinton, so we rejected it. … John Edwards listens! There were two of them. … Ted Kennedy listened to the program. … We have never run ads from either of these two companies, we never will.”

Eagan: OK For Government To Force Rules On Religion

Margery Eagan appears to miss the point of the dispute about birth control, saying the "solution is simple: Don’t take government money." Originally Obama wanted the Church to pay for birth control, forcing the church to approve it. While religious expression is prohibited by liberals Eagan finds no problem with government telling a religious organization what it must subsidize, or support. Is the reason for her missing the point the religion which is under attack?
