OK To Stereotype Some People, But Not Muslims

We are often reminded that concerns about Muslim terrorists can be offensive to law abiding Muslims living in the United States and elsewhere. We're told it is not only unfair to think awful thoughts about law abiding Muslims, but also that it has the effect of radicalizing other peaceful Muslims. But we never hear about how providing special privileges to Muslims who openly express hatred toward and threats to kill Jews, Americans and to destroy Israel may offend ordinary Americans. What is the effect on them of the hate speech and threats? Does it radicalize Americans? But there is another extremely troubling effect of terrorist speech and actions on the lives of all Americans. That is the loss of freedom. It will likely be a permanent loss. Simple things that ordinary people can no longer do including but are not limited to going to an airport, buying a ticket and getting on a plane without having to be inspected by bureaucrats. Another is going to a football game without having to be inspected by security guards. There are many others but you get the idea. Americans are losing their freedoms due to the extreme acts of a small group of Muslims. The White House claims they are not Muslims as if he knows. He says they are just killers. Why is he more concerned with protecting the warlike acts against Americans, than the loss of Americans' freedom?

The same White House explains that people are to be treated as they see themselves. Thus there are white men and women who say they are black. Men who say they are women and women who say they are men. Psychiatrists and the human services industrial complex (MA State Rep. Marie Parente's term) accept what people say if they believe they are mentally ill or not. Although when it is helpful to the human services industry to have more patients they often provoke people who do not believe they are crazy.

The process is called self identifying. Why does the system of identification of humans not apply to people who say they are Muslims?

Similarly we are told that it is not fair to stereotype all Muslims for the actions of a few. But every day in courts police, prosecutors, judges and lawyers openly assert that a defendant "has a history of mental illness. Does that mean that mental illness causes crime and violence? That all people accused of mental illness are dangerous? It is a pervasive belief in this country yet there are no White House efforts to protect the many harmless humans accused of psychiatrist diagnoses from the few criminals. Why are Muslims more important than persons with disabilities? Does it have to do with numbers? There are estimated 1.6 billon Muslims in the world. Is this simply bullying by this large group of religious people?

In its coverage of the San Bernardino terrorist attack, Univision lamented [. . .] If the attacker is white, the diagnosis is mental illness rather than terrorism, Univision complained, whereas if the attacker is Muslim and screams Allah akbar, it is so ignorantly presumed to be terrorism.

A former neighbor in Riverside, where Farook graduated from La Sierra High School in 2003, described him as “quiet but always polite.” “Maybe two years ago he became more religious,” Maria Gutierrez told the New York Daily News. “He grew a beard and started to wear religious clothing. The long shirt that’s like a dress and the cap on his head.” Farook’s father, also named Syed, told the Daily News that his son was “very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He’s Muslim.” Farook’s co-workers said he was respected and well-liked. He had traveled to Saudi Arabia and returned with a new wife he met through an online religious dating site. On his profile page, Farook described himself as an “Allah fearing, calm thought full (sic) and simple man.”

The Homeland Security mantra of “if you see something, say something” conflicts with admonitions from elected officials and other doyens of the political class that “not all Muslims are terrorists” (obviously) and “religious and racial profiling is wrong” (not so obvious).
Faced with the choice of either “saying something” to the authorities about suspicious behavior that may or may not be a bona fide threat and remaining mum for fear of being tarred as a bigot people increasingly opt for the latter.

Americans Need To Begin Profiling Terror Suspects in Order To Survive

First, we need a formal declaration of war so that everyone is on board. My guess is that most Americans understand that declaring war is a necessary step.
Two, we need to start profiling terrorists.
Back in October 2001, about a month after September 11, Peggy Noonan wrote something that stills makes a lot of sense:
The people who are trying to kill us with bombs and biological weapons are not from Canada, Chile, China, India, Ireland, Tanzania, Congo, New Zealand or the island of Jamaica.
They are from the Arab Mideast. They are not Israeli.
They are men, and not women.
They are young men. That is, they are not old men, and they are not children.
So: We know the profile of the bad guys.

the sensible explanation that stopping blacks makes perfectly good sense from a cop's point of view, because it results in higher productivity in apprehending criminals and solving crimes. And just like most folks in the work force, law enforcement officers are measured by and rewarded for higher productivity. Increased work production often leads to promotion and higher pay – not unreasonable goals for cops, just like the rest of us, to have.
The law enforcement commenter gave an example: in just three vehicle stops of blacks in the first three hours of a shift, he found fifteen violations and sixteen outstanding warrants. That's the kind of job production that gets your shift commander's attention. Do that often enough, and the chief is going to recognize your name and give you a longer handshake while he fixes you with a thoughtful gaze. And most likely, while he's pondering your future in his department, he's giving absolutely no thought to the race of the perps you have busted – simply the numbers you have added to his look-good statistics, which in turn will appease his masters and perhaps increase his own pay. It's called getting noticed, and it's a very good thing for ambitious persons in a very large number of professions. Why should it be any different with police officers?

it makes very good business sense if your business is enforcing the law and apprehending lawbreakers. And by extension, it makes good sense for our communities, because it removes their most frequent offenders. Whom do you want your police pulling over: citizens with clean records, or perps with a long list of priors and outstanding warrants? And is that racism, or the application of common sense to controlling crime in your community? It's just one more example of common sense colliding with liberal dogma.

Remember, this is the state that two years ago admitted to annually handing out at least $1.8 billion in welfare to illegal aliens. That of course is money well spent, because it’s for non-working, non-English-speaking non-citizens. What could possibly be fairer than that?

“One of the Etihad check-in girls then made the decision that she wasn’t fit to fly based on the fact she was pale in color and was leaning against her mum.”
Wain had reportedly been saving up for the exotic vacation for years and the entire family became distraught at the prospect of missing their once-in-a-lifetime trip. After an airport paramedic performed a check-up and deemed Grace fit to fly, the Etihad staff still demanded that the Wains produce a doctor’s letter to confirm that Grace was well enough for the trip to Abu Dhabi.

“I told them, ‘We live in Scotland.’ She is a redhead and she has a pale complexion. That’s just the way she is,” Paul Wain said.
Just two hours before the Wains’ flight was scheduled to depart, they were able to obtain a letter from the family practitioner, at which point they were allowed to board.
Paul Wain suspects the holdup had nothing to do with whether his daughter was healthy enough to fly but believes Etihad was trying to ground certain passengers due to an oversold cabin.
But the family’s ordeal did not end when they arrived in the Maldives. Etihad lost both parents’ luggage — and couldn’t deliver it for three days.

--In a cynical and duplicitous attempt to capitalize on New York City’s documented racial profiling problems, a pair of bloggers have created a video purporting to show an NYPD officer stopping and frisking a pair of Muslim men for the crime of wearing traditional Islamic garments.
But the viral video is a sham, a staged production aimed to go viral and pile up views and YouTube channel subscriptions for its young creators, Brooklynites Adam Saleh and Sheikh Akbar, who get a piece of the revenue generated by ads that run before their videos play.

The video is a marvelously tidy example of the NYPD’s supposedly wicked ways. At the clip’s end, Saleh and Akbar appear to explain, “What you just saw is what we always go through when we’re filming with our culture clothing on.” Saleh then claims that the pair had been out shooting another video when “police happen to, like, follow us and racial profile us. So we stopped filming that video and we decided to make this video for you guys. And it happened in one chance.”

A second source, a recently retired NYPD detective who also watched the “profiling” video at TSG’s request, branded it an “obvious hoax” intended to “smear” police.
If that was the intent of Saleh and Akbar, they appear to have succeeded. According to The Huffington Post, the video provides a “small glimpse into the ugly world of racial profiling.” The news site later updated its piece to indicate that the clip’s authenticity could not be verified, and that NYPD officials are reviewing the video.
Since the video was uploaded to YouTube, Saleh, Akbar, and their friends have been aggressively promoting the clip on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. “Spread the word and bring an end to Racial Profiling,” Saleh wrote. Sheikh told his followers that, “Racial Profiling goes against all equal rights.” He added, “Never expected a reaction like this.”

He said officers had been asked to check on Buckman's well-being.
'The manner of death was suicide,' Riedener said.
Riedener said the 61-year-old was found in his room and pronounced dead at the scene.
He said no foul play was involved, and the investigation has been closed.
Buckman, who was married with two children, rose to prominence while defending Pedro Soto of Gloucester County in a drug case.
He successfully won a motion to suppress evidence seized during a State Police highway stop on the basis of racial profiling.
The judge ruled that troopers routinely stopped minority motorists in New Jersey based on the their skin color.
He found such stops to be illegal and threw out drug and weapons evidence against Soto and 16 others.

Cambridge Neighbors Lament Police Harassing Young Black Men

One of many articles about discrimination against black Americans. The police director of communications cites statistics. But he fails to mention that young black men commit most of the crime. That too is a statistic. Omitted is how police and the FBI target persons with disabilities. But seldom is there any recognition of that abuse of power. Unlike when police abuse black people where there is substantial media coverage, abuse of persons with disabilities seldom gets recognition by journalists who share the view of the need to abuse disabled persons. Police target young black men because of statistics. But persons with disabilities seldom commit crimes. There is no rational reason to harass disabled persons. 

One person laments being targeted in his poor neighborhood. But it is worse in wealthy neighborhoods when police see young black men there.

"The Herald reported that he was living in public housing, with a rap sheet that would make a hardened criminal blush and yet still free to roam the streets." Police priorities are the same as the priorities of the TSA at airports. Police refuse to profile likely criminals, or even known criminals with a long history of arrests for violent crimes,  drunk drivers etc.;  just as the TSA refuses to profile likely terrorists. They focus instead on vulnerable civilians who are unlikely to be able to commit a crime. TSA searches 5-year-olds and 90-year-olds. Massachusetts police especially in Cambridge focus on 70-year-old white males who write, make videos and petition city and state government agencies to stop criminal abuses of vulnerable persons. Is that why there are so many violent criminals running free in and around Boston? Cambridge police and Harvard University campus cops conduct relentless harassment and character assassination every day for fun and for profit on property owned and operated by the President and Fellows of Harvard College. James Bulger and his merry band of colleagues, were free to conduct their violent business in the Boston area for 30 years. Harvard University is likewise free from any accountability to local, state or US laws, to abuse vulnerable civilians without any response from government agencies whose mission is to protect vulnerable persons. “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”- Voltaire

More Forms For Police

Here's another hair-brained idea wasting more time of police officers diverting them from protecting law abiding citizens. The results will be as unreliable as the claims about profiling. Who decides what race a person detained is? The officer or the detainee? Is self identifying as accurate for this collection of data as it is for the mental health professionals? And what if it turns out that more black and Hispanic persons are stopped than their percentage of the population? Will that mean that the police are racists? When will this nonsense stop? Why isn't disability included in the profiling debates? Just as black people, women and others demand affirmative action, why is it still OK for governments and taxpayer funded agencies e.g., Public Broadcasting Corporation, to discriminate against persons with disabilities in schools and in hiring?

About this, though, there should be no doubt: If Martin had been shot by a black classmate, if he had been caught in a random crossfire, if he had looked at a gang member the wrong way, his death would have been relegated to the back pages of the local newspaper.
Not a cause, not even a curiosity: Just another dead young black man.

Jesse Jackson is right that “blacks are under attack.”
According to a 2005 FBI report, blacks accounted for 13 percent of the population and 49 percent of all homicide victims. In 93 percent of the cases, the killer was black. Half of the victims were ages 17 to 29.

There is no comparable epidemic of half-Hispanic neighborhood-watch volunteers like George Zimmerman shooting young black men.
That works out to 4,000 murders of young blacks in one year, overwhelmingly at the hands of other blacks.
Nor is there an epidemic of cops doing the same. Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute notes that in New York City, there were nine civilian victims of police gunfire last year, whereas there were “several hundred black homicide victims in the city, almost all shot by other blacks or Hispanics, none of them given substantial press coverage.

An injustice may well have been done in the handling of the Martin shooting, but let’s not fool ourselves. Zimmerman could be arrested, convicted and hanged tomorrow, and it would have no effect on the lives of young black people in communities beset by social disorder.
