Migrant Crime Reports in Germany

Migrants in Germany committed or tried to commit some 69,000 crimes in the first quarter of 2016, according to a police report that could raise unease, especially among anti-immigrant groups, about Chancellor Angela Merkel's liberal migrant policy.
There was a record influx of more than a million migrants into Germany last year and concerns are now widespread about how Europe's largest economy will manage to integrate them and ensure security.
The report from the BKA federal police showed that migrants from northern Africa, Georgia and Serbia were disproportionately represented among the suspects.
Absolute numbers of crimes committed by Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis - the three biggest groups of asylum seekers in Germany - were high but given the proportion of migrants that they account for, their involvement in crimes was "clearly disproportionately low", the report said.

The report stated that the vast majority of migrants did not commit any crimes.

Violent Crime Increasing In Some U.S. Cities

Violent crimes - from homicides and rapes to robberies - have been on the rise in many major U.S. cities, yet experts can't point to a single reason why and the jump isn't enough to suggest there's a trend.
Still, it is stumping law enforcement officials, who are seeking a way to combat the problem.
"It's being reported on at local levels, but in my view, it's not getting the attention at the national level it deserves," FBI Director James Comey said recently. "I don't know what the answer is, but holy cow, do we have a problem."
Americans have grown accustomed to low crime rates since a peak in the 1990s. But law enforcement started seeing a spike last year that has continued unabated. What's unusual, however, is that it's not happening everywhere. Chicago and Los Angeles are seeing homicides on the rise, but other places like Miami and Oakland are not.
Chicago, a city long associated with violent crime that plagues its poorer neighborhoods, saw six people fatally shot over the Memorial Day weekend and 56 wounded, ending a bloody month in a bloody year. May's 66 homicides - 19 more than May 2015 and 25 more than May 2014 - raised the total number for the year past the 240 mark. That's more than 50 percent higher than last year, and puts the city on a pace to easily surpass the 500 homicides it saw in 2012.
Perhaps more significant is the number of people who are being shot; well over 1,200 as of Tuesday, which far surpasses the 800 by this time last year.

Some say the splintering of gangs has created deadly rivalries, others say the disbanding of specialized police units has helped embolden gangs. Guns are pouring into the city - with police saying they've seized more guns this year (3,500) than any city police department in the United States - but courts also have overturned or gutted the city's once-tough gun laws.

"Quite frankly, trust has broken down between the community and police," new [Chicago] police superintendent Eddie Johnson said.

The reasons vary, Stephens said: Chicago and Los Angeles attribute much of it to gang-related violence, while others chalk it up to significant drug problems that lead to violent crime.
Some in law enforcement have speculated that a climate after the 2014 fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, has made officers reticent about taking the steps needed to stop crime, but Stephens says that tough scrutiny on policing has always been part of the job, even if it's "more visible, more strident" now.
And even with violent crime outpacing past years, it's a far cry from the more notorious early 1990s when there were about 25,000 homicides each year. "We're nowhere near that level," he said.

[Indianapolis, IN] Police spokesman Sgt. Kendale Adams said last year's record homicides and the continued rise in killings this year is being driven by a multitude of factors, including the proliferation of guns, disputes over drugs and fights that escalate into gunfire.
"People want a reason, right? There's got to be a reason, but when we look at the data it's disturbances, it's drugs, it's even simple disputes on Facebook. It's very lifestyle-oriented, that's what the data is telling us," he said Wednesday. "Disputes that normally would have been settled through fighting are being settled through lethal means."

Colorado Murder Rates Show Rapid Rise After Legalization of Pot

According to the latest reports coming out of Colorado, marijuana is a major cause of homicides in the state, and the problem is only getting worse.
Regular readers will know that Colorado has seen a massive increase in crime since it legalized pot. The numbers just keep getting worse. Over the first four months of 2016, total crime in Denver is up 10% over the same period from 2015. This rate of increase is five times the population growth rate and adds to equally large increases in 2015 and 2014, as well as the period in 2013, after which the state government signaled marijuana legalization was forthcoming.
The cops in Colorado knew this would happen. They predicted it, and it has come to fruition.
Now a prosecutor in the state has gone on the record with his concerns. Arapahoe County district attorney George Brauchler provides some disturbing statistics: 10 of the last 15 murders in his jurisdiction were connected to marijuana.

The pot legalization advocates told us that legalized marijuana would reduce crime and effectively eliminate the black market. Now we have experienced and respected prosecutors saying they are seeing, firsthand, the exact opposite.
The legalization proponents overlooked a basic fact that District Attorney Brauchler's comments make clear – you will always require money to purchase pot, whether it is legal or not, and it is that need to acquire currency to procure the addictive drug that is a primary driver of marijuana-related crime.

And then there are the road hazards from legalized pot:
A report by the AAA Foundation released Tuesday found that traffic fatalities involving drivers in Washington where marijuana was involved had doubled between 2013 and 2014. Marijuana became legal in the state in 2012.
Similar trends were observed in Utah, where "officials say the number of fatal car wrecks in Utah in which drivers tested positive for marijuana has more than doubled in the last three years."
This social experiment has failed miserably. Time to recriminalize marijuana in all jurisdictions as a means of minimizing, as best as practical, the damage already done.

Do Americans Prefer Denmark?

Writing in New York magazine, Jonathan Chait asks "if we want to be like Denmark, whom do we tax?"

We'll start with real per capita GDP. It is 22% higher in the U.S., meaning that being like Denmark would involve giving up a substantial portion of the average individual national wealth. That doesn't seem wise.
Denmark's real per capita GDP is lower now than it was in 2004. A decade of darkness. Make that a decade-and-a-half. Since 2000, its real per capita GDP has increased -- in total -- only 2.6%. As anemic as the American growth rate is, it is fivefold faster than Denmark's.
Denmark has a far higher rate of assault than the U.S. (i.e., the Danes are very violent) and its violent crime rate is headed through the roof.
Americans also score much better in terms of self-reported health. So much for that socialized medicine advantage.

The U.S. wins by a long shot on housing, income, and health, and it's a tie on jobs -- all the objectively measurable points that matter.
And to achieve this victory, the all-in average personal income tax rates at average wage in the U.S. are upwards of half the rate the Danes are suffering under.
Want to pay much more to be much poorer? Move to Denmark.

Washington, DC, did indeed legalize marijuana on February 26, 2015, and since then, violent crime has increased substantially.
According to the latest crime data from the Metropolitan Police Department, the number of violent crimes during the first three months of 2016 is up 15% compared to the same time frame last year. By comparison, population growth in the area is only 2% per year.

In February of 2015, it became legal to grow and consume marijuana in Alaska. And, as has happened in Denver and Seattle, crime immediately began to increase after being stable or declining in the pre-legal pot era.

Channel 2 KTUU out of Anchorage reports that the 2015 "spike in Anchorage's murder rate along with other violent crime underscores why more patrol officers and detectives are needed on the streets, according to police, victims' advocates, union officials and city promoters."
More police are needed, along with a repeal of Alaska's legal marijuana experiment. The relatively small tax revenues from legalized weed do not come close to offsetting the corresponding economic and social costs.

As 2016 starts, crime is up yet again in the post-marijuana legalization metropolis of Denver, Colorado.

Population increase doesn't come close to explaining the trend. Annual growth rates for population in the Denver and Metro Denver areas have been consistent at just 2% over this period, meaning the crime rate is rising rapidly.
And yet, somehow the Denver Post claims that "in any given year, marijuana-related crimes in Denver make up less than 1 percent of all offenses counted in the Uniform Crime Report

There is no reliable way to determine what percentage of the reported crimes are due to marijuana legalization. Some offenses, when investigated by authorities, will show an unequivocal direct cause to marijuana use. But it is simply impossible to accurately measure all offenses directly caused by pot use.
[. . .]
Consequently, the low rate of proven direct associations between crime in Denver and marijuana use is expected, and it tells us nothing about the actual direct causes of marijuana use on crime in the region. It is simply an unknowable question.
Equally important is the indirect effect of marijuana use. The legalization of pot sends a powerful anti-societal message to many, and its use can lead to socio-economic decline for individuals and families – the results of which may take a long period to show their real effects and be essentially impossible to link to marijuana use without a suite of equally long (and expensive) case studies. We lack the resources for these investigations, and, as a result, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

But what we do know is that the number of crimes in Denver skyrocketed started at the same time the legalized marijuana policy was implemented, and this empirical evidence, combined with what science tells us about the harmful psychological effects of marijuana use, is, while not conclusive, strongly suggestive that the social fabric is starting to unravel in the Mile-High City due to pot legalization.
And now we see that "Colorado's Governor is cautioning other states from legalizing marijuana." According to a report by Channel 7 ABC in Denver, Gov. John Hickenlooper made the following statements at a conference in Dallas on Tuesday:
You get all those young people who do certain things that some of us oppose and aren't crazy about, like legalizing marijuana. Let me tell you, if you're trying to encourage businesses to move to your state, some of the larger businesses, think twice about legalizing marijuana.

Between 2008 and 2012, the number of total crimes and property crimes in the city was stable or declining, consistent with trends at the national level. Since adult possession of marijuana became legal in December 2012, the number of crimes has risen rapidly.

Given that we see the same pre-/post-pot legalization crime pattern in Denver, while correlation is not necessarily causation, it is certainly suggestive based on the data from these geographically distinct regions.
Time must also be taken to debunk a key talking point of legal marijuana proponents: equating the difficulties of alcohol prohibition with marijuana prohibition. These two drugs present very different law enforcement challenges. The former can never be effectively eliminated, whereas availability of the latter can be substantially reduced via criminalization.

In short, a prohibition on the materials from which alcohol is derived would lead to immediate mass starvation and, soon thereafter, the extinction of the human species (i.e., we would need to pretty much ban the biosphere), whereas a prohibition on the materials from which THC is derived requires us ONLY to criminalize a single largely commercially irrelevant, plant species. Attempting to equate these two efforts is intellectual nonsense and belies a clear lack of knowledge regarding the underlying science behind the two drugs.

FBI Reports Increase in Violent Crime

Violent crime rose across in the country in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period the year before, according to preliminary data released Tuesday by the FBI.
The statistics show a 1.7 per cent jump in the number of violent crimes reported by local law enforcement to the FBI, with increases in murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
Burglary and arson crimes, however, dropped in the first six months of last year, the FBI said.[. . .]
Crime in the United States drew public attention last year as many major American cities reported spikes in the number of homicides in their communities.
The FBI statistics were pulled from 12,879 law enforcement agencies from January to June 2015.
'While the overall violent crime rates remain historically low, and it is too early to draw any long-term conclusions, the Justice Department is acutely focused on the increases being experienced in some communities of the country,' said Justice Department spokesman Patrick Rodenbush.
He said the department next month would bring together representatives from every U.S. attorney's office for training on anti-violence strategies.[. . .]
Police officials have struggled to pinpoint specific reasons for the homicide increase, and the FBI report does not offer possible explanations.
Many criminal justice experts have cautioned against making too much of the increase, given that the totals are far below where they were 20 years ago and noting that after years of drops, the numbers could not be expected to keep going down.

Massachusetts State Police have investigated 64 homicides across the state in 2015. State troopers, who investigate homicides in the vast majority of Massachusetts communities with the assistance of local police, have solved 47 of those, for a 73 percent clearance rate. Those statistics exclude Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and Pittsfield.

Also this year, State Police detectives have responded to 755 fatal suspected heroin overdoses. Official cause of death in these cases is determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but State Police classify them as suspected heroin overdoses because of evidence found at the scene, including drug paraphernalia, or statements of witnesses who were with the deceased immediately prior to death. Of the 755 suspected fatal heroin overdoses, 591 victims were male, 164, female.

Also thus far in 2015, State Police have made 3,865 arrests of drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

The Department of State Police marked its 150th anniversary in 2015. The agency that would grow into the State Police, the State Constabulary, was established in 1865, several weeks after the end of the Civil War.

Colorado's marijuana legalization experiment, Denver's 2015 crime wave cranks up yet another notch.
November's crime data is out for the city, and it doesn't tell a pretty story. There were another eight murders in Denver during November, bringing the year-to-date total to 50, which is more than 72 percent higher than last year's numbers.

In 2014, marijuana legalization advocates were claiming that the opposite trends would take place. Crime should decrease, they said, because marijuana use doesn't lead to criminal behavior, and the decriminalization of the substance should reduce organized crime associated with the sale of a formerly illicit drug.
If the data so far is any indication, the Pollyannas were wrong.

These media sites will tell you there is no difference between white and black crime. The only reason black people are arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced five to 100 times more often is because racist cops pick on black people for no reason whatsoever.

One, how do the professors and big time media folks know that blacks and whites commit the same amount of drug crime?

This info is part of the census --- [. . .] Such as: ‘Do you use drugs? Or smoke pot?’ [. . .] They just take your word for it. [. . .] And that is how the ‘black and white commit the same amount of crime hoax” was born.
The buzzword for this kind of research is “self-reporting.” As you might guess, this research is itself the subject of a lot of research. And a lot of scientists have found that self-reporting on drug use is not reliable. Especially for one particular group: African Americans.

A study of 290 African American men in Baltimore, Maryland undergoing treatment for hypertension showed that self-reporting of illicit drug use is unreliable. Only 48 of the participants reported drug use but urine drug tests revealed that 131 had used drugs. With self-reporting, drug use among black people was 16 percent. With testing, 45 percent.

When you ask, white people and black people report using cocaine in about the same amount. But when you test, black people are six times more likely to use cocaine. And lie about it.

For crime, it is: There is an enormous difference between black and white crime rates in this country. A difference that the same people who call Trump a liar have been lying about for a long time.

This is why I am skeptical whenever the Cambridge, MA police spokesman boasts about crime statistics in Cambridge. I know you can trust him. He is not like the rest. Ahem! It all depends on the timing. When it is nearing budget allocation period, crime stats go up. When it is time for performance review crime goes down.

An estimated 14,000 cases from 2005 to 2012 were altered, leading people to believe the city’s crime rate was lower than it actually was, according to a Los Angeles Times analysis.
Before his tenure began as NYPD commissioner, Bratton served as the chief of the LAPD from 2002 to 2009. Using the revolutionary CompStat system, which crunches crime numbers and determines where incidents are likely to occur, he helped lower crime within the city for seven consecutive years.
But data now shows that those numbers were significantly skewed by police — and that the number of violent offenses in LA was actually 7 percent higher than what authorities reported during that period, the Times reports.
Serious assault cases were also 16 percent higher.

“We know this can have a corrosive effect on the public’s trust of our reporting,” said Assistant Chief Michel Moore, who is in charge of the LAPD’s system for tracking crime.
“That’s why we are committed to…eliminating as much of the error as possible.” he explained.
When asked about the Times’ story and whether he’s concerned the underreporting is now happening in the Big Apple, a spokesman for Mayor de Blasio said, “The Mayor has complete confidence in Commissioner Bratton’s leadership. He has led the effort to make New York City the safest large city in the country.”
But John Eterno, a retired NYPD police captain and professor who studied NYPD crimes stats through 2012, argues otherwise.
“I talk with the officers who are still out there and they tell me these practices are continuing,” he told The Post, claiming “the pressures come from Compstat, from headquarters, and indirectly filter down through the rank and file.”

“These are clear examples that the numbers are still being gamed under Bratton,” he said. “It’s even more of an imperative for him now because he’s working under a new policy of stop and frisk where he can no longer use that tack. Also, he’s claiming with de Blasio that crime will go down without abusing that tactic.”
Nineteen supervisors at the 40th Precinct in Motthaven were slapped with disciplinary charges in July after a four-month audit by the NYPD’s Quality Assurance Division discovered that they had cooked the books in 2014 on 55 out of 1,558 crime reports.
The adjustment ultimately made it appear as if crime in the area was down 14 percent, instead of the actual 11.4 percent.

As Breitbart News has previously reported, immigrant crime, committed by both legal and illegal aliens, is a phenomenon the media either lie about or ignore. A 2011 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that even counted the Muslim Boston bombers and the Chattanooga terrorist attack as “citizen crimes” still revealed that 249,000 immigrants averaged seven arrests apiece for 1.7 million arrests contributing to our vibrant, diverse society.
“There would have been at least 70,000 fewer sexual assaults, 25,000 fewer slayings, 125,000 fewer robberies,” and so on, had these aliens been rightfully deported. Twenty-five thousand people would still be alive today, were they not sacrificed on the altar of unlimited immigration. The U.S. would see a staggering 37 percent reduction in federal crimes if we deported the 3.5 percent of its population counted as illegal aliens.
Yet immigration activists still smear families whose children were savagely murdered by criminal aliens for creating a “circus” that they think is more “awful” than murder itself.

A dramatic drop in stop-and-frisk encounters has emboldened criminals and made cops more reluctant to take proactive police action, even as murders and shootings are on the rise in the city.
The frightening message — echoed by police supervisors and union leaders — comes as stop-and-frisk encounters are on pace to plunge by 42% this year, with 20,000 fewer street stops.
There were 11,652 stops across the city through June 3 — projecting to roughly 28,000 for the year, records obtained by the Daily News show. As the number of stops fell, the number of murders spiked 19.5% during the first five months of the year, the number of people shot is up 9.2% and the number of shooting incidents jumped 9%.

“Everyone is afraid to make stops,” said one Brooklyn police supervisor. “No one wants to get jammed up. They’re telling us the stops have to be quality stops. But if you make a stop, and you think it’s a good one, and the guy has nothing on him, is that a good stop?”

Christopher Dunn, assistant legal director for the New York Civil Liberties Union, said history showed stop-and-frisks had no effect on crime data.

“The vast majority of the time, it’s a way to harass young men of color,” said the Bronx resident. “The shootings are unfortunate, but there should be more police in the community, working with the community and not just showing up when there is trouble.”

Milwaukee Sheriff Suggests Mayor and Police Chief Be Held Accountable

He wants people to consider that the mayor has been in office for ten years, while the police chief has held the job for six years. The sheriff believes that these two should look inward, considering that during their tenure the causes for possible violence has increased: poverty has worsened, the Milwaukee School System has received an F grade, Milwaukee’s unemployment rate is 32%, and crime is also at a high level. In fact, the latest statistics show a 100% spike in murders in Milwaukee compared with a year ago.
Clarke noted, “I am not afraid of a law-abiding citizen with a gun; I’m afraid of the criminal with a gun and soft-on-crime prosecutors and judges. There is zero evidence that concealed carry permits have led to an increase in guns on the streets.

Cambridge, MA Police Report Less Gun Crimes

These facts suggest that considerate people with guns often shoot their guns in Cambridge and leave to kill others or to kill themselves elsewhere. NYC Police Commissioner and Boston Police Commissioner say the heavy snow and cold weather, greatly reduced crime during the past winter months. But they are mistaken. Crime causes global warming. It was cold because of the lack of reported crimes. Watch as the weather heats up due to increased crime. It happens every year. Clever use of crime statistics, which change by using one year or five year figures, whatever it takes to make the city look safe in order to keep up home prices.

Recent History of Violence In Baltimore

Let’s pick up the story from Baltimore Jewish Life:

“One 24-year-old African American female followed him and sucker punched him on the side of his head, swelling his lip and breaking his glasses. She continued to throw punches as Dr. Einbinder tried to swat her away.”
"I thought this was a 15-year old boy. She was half my size and just didn't appear to be a female. I kept asking her why she was doing this to me; I said, 'I didn't anything to you'! She spat on me and according to one witness, she said, "C'mon, fight me Jew.”
“The attacker originally told police that the doctor began the altercation but when witnesses contradicted her story she admitted to the police that she was "just having a bad day."
“He is also upset at the way the laws are written in that the officers on the scene were unable to arrest her even with the tens of witnesses to this attack on hand. Apparently an attack of this sort is considered a 2nd Degree Assault and unless witnessed by a Police Officer, and/or unless any type of weapon is used an arrest cannot be made.”

Last summer there was so much crime, so much video, so many people wondering why it was happening so often, that Governor O’Malley suggested that the new mayor might want to copy what he did to fight crime when he was mayor: Put more boots on the ground.
Not on my watch, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake told the Baltimore Sun:
"Returning to the days of mass arrests for any and every minor offense might be a good talking point but it has been proven to be a far less effective strategy for actually reducing crime.”
This came just a few months after Maryland legislator Pat McDonough called on the governor to declare downtown Baltimore a “No-Travel Zone” because of all the “black” people who were “terrorizing” the area.

The mayor did not like that advice either.
She had her own plan and it was working just fine: Just stop arresting people. When O’Malley was mayor, the city collared 100,000 miscreants a year. Last year, they nabbed 50,000.
This allows the Mayor to brag to anyone willing to listen that violent crime in Baltimore is down -- 45 percent since the year 2000.

When some readers observed that crime and violence in Baltimore was a black thing, others lashed out, demanding they stop “demonizing black people.”

And lots of letters from people who live in Baltimore pleading for someone to tell the truth about the constant violence in that once charming city.
“Growing up in Baltimore city can be hellish for white people,” said one of many correspondents. “Anyone who isn’t black is a target.”

So in Baltimore, police will not arrest black criminals. Juries will not convict them. And all over the country, more and more district attorneys are talking about an epidemic of witness tampering that also makes convictions problematic.
Toss in stitches for snitches, and that is the fourth reason why the black crime rate is artificially low.

And often very brutal, she said. That is what her award-winning drama is about. But it is often not reported because black people don’t want to air their racial business in front of white people.

Earlier this year, Chicago Magazine did a two-part story on how the police department deflates crime numbers.
So much so that the web site DNA Info reported that a Chicago police captain recently told a community group that he would not even talk about crime statistics: “You'll notice I didn't bring up stats," said Police Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris. "No one believes the stats.”

Down in New Orleans, crime stats were so ridiculously low that state and a city inspectors did an audit. Here’s the money quote from the WWLTV news:
"For the second time in three days, a watchdog agency is questioning the New Orleans Police Department's crime statistics. A report released Wednesday by the city's inspector general shows that some crimes aren't being classified as crimes at all.

Translation: When you ask, white people and black people report using cocaine in about the same amount. But when you test, black people are six times more likely to use cocaine. And lie about it.

Reed College Student Banned From Class For Accurate Questioning Of Rape Statistics

A student at Reed College has been banned from class for denying the existence of “rape culture” in the United States and arguing that the oft-repeated statistic that one in five women are raped at college is bogus.
Jeremiah True, 19, received an email from professor Pancho Savery on March 14 telling him he was making his classmates so uncomfortable that he was no longer welcome to participate in the “conference” sections of his Humanities 110 class, a course which focuses on the art and literature of classical Greece, according to BuzzFeed News.

“There are several survivors of sexual assault in our conference, and you have made them extremely uncomfortable with what they see as not only your undermining incidents of rape, but of also placing too much emphasis on men being unfairly charged with rape,” said Savery in an email True posted online. “[Other students] have said that things you have said in our conference have made them so upset that they have difficulty concentrating in other classes. I, as conference leader, have to do what is best for the well-being of the entire class, and I am therefore banning you from conference for the remainder of the semester.”

The “About Reed” page on the college’s website repeatedly extols the importance of independent thought and free inquiry. The first operating principle of the college reads ”The educational mission of the college requires the freest exchange and most open discussion of ideas. The use of censorship or intimidation is intolerable in such a community.” The school’s mission statement declares that “The goal of the Reed education is that students learn and demonstrate rigor and independence in their habits of thought, inquiry, and expression.”

Whether or not True is “triggering” his fellow students, his argument against the 1-in-5 rape statistic is on solid ground factually. While activists and even the White House have repeated the claim that 20 percent of women are raped at college, that number is primarily based on a study that had numerous shortcomings:
