[From article]
A teen mom from Texas, whose boyfriend is accused of killing her 19-month-old daughter, has been arrested over claims that she helped hide the body.
Alexis Botello, 17, allegedly told police how she and Joshua Markus Beard bought shovels and gloves at a Walmart before burying her daughter, Tylea Moore, under a bridge.
Beard, 20, is facing a murder charge over claims that he stomped on Tylea and beat her death at the couple's Arlington home on Friday or Saturday.

Strong Factor Blocking Upward Mobility? Single Parents

[From article]
The study, “Where is the Land of Opportunity?: The Geography of Intergenerational Mobility in the United States,” authored by Harvard economist Raj Chetty and colleagues from Harvard and Berkeley, explores the community characteristics most likely to predict mobility for lower-income children. The study specifically focuses on two outcomes: absolute mobility for lower-income children—that is, how far up the income ladder they move as adults; and relative mobility—that is, how far apart children who grew up rich and poor in the same community end up on the economic ladder as adults. When it comes to these measures of upward mobility in America, the new Harvard study asks: Which “factors are the strongest predictors of upward mobility in multiple variable regressions”?

MTV's Race To The Bottom

[From article]
If you don't know who Abraham is, you obviously haven't been keeping up with Us Weekly. She didn't tell her ex-boyfriend that he was the father before he was killed in a car accident. Her mother was charged with assault for hitting her. But never mind. Rocketed to D-list celebrity by her appearances on "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom," she got two breast augmentations, performed in a sex video and has now graduated to appearing on the VH1 show "Couples Therapy." In other words, she is living the American Dream of pointless notoriety.
[. . .]
It's safe to assume that nothing good comes from MTV, except by accident.

Government, Journalists Refuse to Recognize Cause of Poverty

[From article]
The breakdown of marriage, in particular, drives impoverishment. The poverty rate is about six times higher for single-parent families than two-parent families. About 70 percent of all poor families with children are single-parent families. According to Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation, if single mothers were to marry the fathers of the children, about two-thirds of them would no longer be poor, in a stupendously effective anti-poverty program.

Boyfriends Are Not Fathers

One more unintended consequence of celebrating single parenting. The New York Post and British newspapers identified this pattern as The Boyfriend Problem two years ago. Women leave their babies with their boyfriends who are not the fathers. The children end up beaten or as in this case dead. Ignoring history ensures it will be repeated again and again.

Great Society? Fairness?

[From article]
"Half of all children born to women under 30 in America now are illegitimate. Three in 10 white children are born out of wedlock, as are 53 percent of Hispanic babies and 73 percent of black babies.

The 19th century statesman John C. Calhoun warned against allowing government to divide us into "tax-payers and tax-consumers." This, he said, "would give rise to two parties and to violent conflicts and struggles between them, to obtain the control of the government."
We are there, Mr. Calhoun, we are there."

Make Getting Pregnant Outside of Marriage a Felony

Margery Eagan reports "lawmakers in more than a dozen states have introduced bills making it a felony for a parent or guardian not to quickly report the disappearance of a child." Why not make it a felony to get pregnant outside of marriage? That would reduce crime by children of single parents. It would require ending the public policies celebrating of single parenthood. Are politicians capable? Current public policies treat the effects of stupidity. Solving the problem is not under consideration.

Ending Youth Violence

This is a PR piece for more taxpayer funds. It is a way to keep people employed without addressing the underlying cause of youth violence. In 1991 a few criminal justice experts recognized that single parent homes was a contributing factor. Liberals who promote this funding refuse to focus. The latest figure is 40 percent of US births are to unmarried women. That is a large source of much of youth violence.
