Anti Discrimination Attorney Charged With Holding Millions in Affordable Housing Money

Craig Gurian, Attorney

This is a long term pattern with non profits going back at least to the 1960s when Head Start groups paid their lawyers tens of thousands and little money went to help the poor.

[From article]
A civil-rights group is under fire for collecting $10 million as part of a 2009 federal discrimination-suit settlement in Westchester County and not disbursing a dime to help poor minorities secure housing.
The controversy centers on the The Anti-Discrimination Center of Manhattan and its leader, Craig Gurian.
The group filed a $180 million suit in 2007 claiming Westchester had received tens of millions of dollars in federal housing funds but failed to build affordable apartments for minorities in white areas.
[. . .]
Watchdog.org, an investigative-journalism Web site, reported that Gurian wasn’t spending any of the money on housing, while paying himself and his wife, Lori Bilkson, $245,000 a year.
“That group needs to be investigated,” said Bishop Nathan Edwards, president of the United Black Clergy of Westchester.

Elite Exploits Poor Stirring Up Animosity, In Support of Globalism

[From article]
That there is an agenda is not in question. Presidents, attorneys general, sports and entertainment celebrities, and the media sphere as a whole do not get involved in small local disturbances for no reason. Stepping back, we can see a consistent thread of deliberately aggravated racial incidents throughout the Obama presidency, from the Gates incident through the Trayvon Martin controversy on to Ferguson. All featured intervention from Obama, and most from Eric Holder as well. You can search all you like among previous presidencies for comparable actions, but you will do so in vain.
[. . .]
To understand what’s happening here, we need to go back to the collapse of the civil rights movement in the late 60s. In exchange for control of the newly-ratified black vote, Democrats dramatically expanded government welfare both through ADC and Lyndon B. Johnson’s “Great Society” programs. As has often been pointed out, this led to the deterioration of the urban black family, with young single black women with children “marrying” Uncle Sam in preference to their hapless male opposite numbers, unwilling to complete their educations and unable to obtain decent employment. The result was generations of young black men deprived of any sexual or social purpose. These lost generations comprised a kind of bonus to the left, with black male drifters viewed as an urban proletariat that could be exploited for revolutionary purposes.
[. . .]
But instead of diligently studying their Lenin and Gramsci and doing what community activists told them, young blacks preferred loafing, dressing in outré styles, involving themselves in petty crime and sexual escapades, and boasting about both.
[. . .]
This new class of gangsters was a large factor in the crime explosion that racked the country from 1965 to 1995.
[. . .]
Measures taken to control crime are presented as ipso facto evidence of “systemic” or “institutional” racism. Both Obama and Holder, along with the vast majority of their contemporaries in both government and media, are true believers in this ideological construct.
[. . .]
leftists in government are not concerned with the welfare of urban blacks in general, but one particular class of blacks, distinct and separate from all others -- black criminals.
Activists, both in government and media, desire to decriminalize black lawlessness. They wish to put black criminals beyond the reach of the law. They seek gangbangers unbound.
[. . .]
the culture is expressed in times of emergency by the committee of vigilance. When law enforcement becomes corrupt or incapable, leading citizens and businessmen band together to form their own law enforcement organizations comprised of law-abiding citizen volunteers. The justice meted out by these groups is usually swifter and harsher than that of the conventional criminal justice establishment. They invariably step aside when a working legal structure is re-established. This pattern can be found in San Francisco in 1856 and 1877, in Montana in 1864, in New Orleans in 1901, and in Athens, Tennessee as recently as 1946.

Government, Journalists Refuse to Recognize Cause of Poverty

[From article]
The breakdown of marriage, in particular, drives impoverishment. The poverty rate is about six times higher for single-parent families than two-parent families. About 70 percent of all poor families with children are single-parent families. According to Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation, if single mothers were to marry the fathers of the children, about two-thirds of them would no longer be poor, in a stupendously effective anti-poverty program.

$20 Trillion Spent In War On Poverty. Poverty Won

[From article]
Fifty years after President Johnson started a $20 trillion taxpayer-funded war on poverty, the overall percentage of impoverished people in the U.S. has declined only slightly and the poor have lost ground under President Obama.
Aides said Mr. Obama doesn’t plan to commemorate the anniversary Wednesday of Johnson’s speech in 1964, which gave rise to Medicaid, Head Start and a broad range of other federal anti-poverty programs
[. . .]
President Obama’s anti-poverty efforts “are basically to give more people more free stuff,” said Robert Rector, a specialist on welfare and poverty at the conservative Heritage Foundation.
“That’s exactly the opposite of what Johnson said,” Mr. Rector said. “Johnson’s goal was to make people prosperous and self-sufficient.”
[. . .]
Mr. Rector said the war on poverty has been a failure when measured by the overall amount of money spent and poverty rates that haven’t changed significantly since Johnson gave his speech.
"We’ve spent $20.7 trillion on means-tested aid since that time, and the poverty rate is pretty much exactly where it was in the mid-1960s,” he said.
[. . .]
other factors have contributed to persistent poverty, including a tripling in the number of households led by single parents.
Mr. Rector said too many government anti-poverty programs still discourage marriage, factoring into statistics that show more than four in 10 children are born to unmarried parents.
“When the war on poverty started, about 6 percent of children were born outside of marriage,” he said. “Today that’s 42 percent — catastrophe.”

How NYC Buries Its Poor

[From article]
In the last few years the old cemetery filled up, so the burials moved to Hart Island's south side. In 2010, there were 695 adults and 504 babies buried there. Four days a week, prisoners from Riker's Island lay plain pine boxes into two mass graves. In the adult grave, coffins are stacked three high. It will be filled with between 150 and 165 bodies (depending on the number of extra-wide coffins), plus separate coffins for body parts, and covered with 36 inches of dirt. The other grave, for fetuses and stillborn babies, will be loaded with 1,000 miniature coffins buried five deep. Both trenches are already open, dug by a yellow Caterpillar backhoe.
[. . .]
In 2011 she [Melinda Hunt] founded the Hart Island Project, a charity that helps families around the world search for relatives who went missing in New York, and who may be buried in the potter's field.

The House I Live In, PBS Feature on War On Drugs

This two-hour feature provides an in depth look at the War on Drugs and the harm it does in the name of good. One prison guard articulated the pattern where private prison corporations get towns with high unemployment to build the prisons which the corporations lease as income for the city. They then fill up the prisons with addicts and sellers.

Two quotes focus on some of the problems.

"Understand that the political infrastructure is so wedded to the status quo that they're so consumed with the next election that there will never emerge a shred of leadership that will change the situation."

"We need to care about that person down the block because the same rights that they have, you have. And if you let their rights be compromised their rights are compromised. At some point you have to stand up and say, 'It's not O.K.'"

Missing from this film are any arguments from proponents of the war on drugs.

Census Poor Figures Misleading

[From article]
"Data from the Department of Energy and other agencies show that the average poor family, as defined by Census officials:

● Lives in a home that is in good repair, not crowded, and equipped with air conditioning, clothes washer and dryer, and cable or satellite TV service.

● Prepares meals in a kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave as well as oven and stove.

● Enjoys two color TVs, a DVD player, VCR and — if children are there — an Xbox, PlayStation, or other video game system.

● Had enough money in the past year to meet essential needs, including adequate food and medical care."

Criminals Are Not All Poor

Blaming poor people for crime is like blaming Black people or persons with disabilities. Children of the upper classes never lived among poor people until they came to a college in a big city. Visit poor neighborhoods. There are 20 poor people who fear criminals for every criminal. Most criminals do not live in the neighborhood where they prey on others. This editorial is misguided at best if not intentional propaganda.

Elite Colleges Discriminate Against Poor Whites, Others

[From article]
"Writes Nieli, there seems an unwritten admissions rule at America's elite schools: "Poor Whites Need Not Apply."

For admissions officers at our top private and public schools, diversity is "a code word" for particular prejudices.

For these schools are not interested in a diversity that would include "born-again Christians from the Bible belt, students from Appalachia and other rural and small-town areas, people who have served in the U.S. military, those who have grown up on farms or ranches, Mormons, Pentecostals, Jehovah's Witnesses, lower- and middle-class Catholics, working-class 'white ethnics,' social and political conservatives, wheelchair users, married students, married students with children or older students just starting into college and raising children."

"Students in these categories," writes Nieli, "are often very rare at the most competitive colleges, especially the Ivy League."

"Lower-class whites prove to be all-around losers" at the elite schools. They are rarely accepted. Lower-class Hispanics and blacks are eight to 10 times more likely to get in with the same scores."

Obama and Lincoln

This is Abraham Lincoln's quote:

"You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. You cannot legislate the poor into
freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for
without receiving. The Government cannot give to anybody anything that the
Government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get
the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take
care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to
work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is surely
the end of any nation's future."

Abraham Lincoln

And Obama thinks he's like Lincoln ... Incredible.

…And wasn't it Margaret Thatcher that once said “The trouble with
socialism is that you eventually run out of somebody else's money.” (?)
