Port Authority cops cracked down on toll cheats at the George Washington Bridge on Tuesday, busting six drivers who owe more than a total $200,000 in unpaid tolls and penalties, police said.
The alleged deadbeat drivers were caught between 4 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. trying to sneak from New Jersey to Manhattan by using such tricks as defaced or missing license plates to avoid paying the toll.
The biggest alleged toll cheat was Jerome Daly, 58, of Teaneck, NJ, who owes $79,423 in unpaid tolls and penalties. That sum includes $16,423 in unpaid tolls and $63,000 in penalties for 1,260 infractions.
“Cheats put additional stress on the transportation network without providing the resources needed to maintain it,” said Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye.
“Today’s crackdown sends a clear message that if you don’t pay your share, you will be held accountable.”
Also busted was Carlos Acosta, 34, of Ridgefield Park, NJ, who drives for Krenz Express LLC, a Garfield trucking firm.
He allegedly owes $3,672 to the Port Authority, representing $2,272 in unpaid tolls and $1,400 more in penalties for 28 past violation. He was driving a tractor trailer with a defaced license plate.

Authorities said the suspect attacked the 21-year-old woman, forcing her to have sex and physically assaulting her around 1 a.m. inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal parking garage at 625 Eighth Ave.
The suspect was last seen entering an elevator on the sixth level of the parking garage, authorities said.
The woman suffered lacerations to her face and body, police said. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and later released.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 30 years old with brown eyes, short, braided hair, and a mustache. He is about 5’9″ tall and weighs about 190 pounds, police said.
He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue striped button down and denim shorts with white sneakers.

A sicko in an American flag shirt beat and raped a 21-year-old woman inside a parking garage at the Port Authority Bus Terminal early Friday morning, authorities said.
The violent creep forced himself on the woman inside the garage near the bustling Midtown Manhattan transit hub around 1 a.m., police said.
The victim told cops that the man sexually assaulted her, then struck her in the face and body.
She was treated at an area hospital and released.
The suspect was caught on surveillance video walking into an elevator on the sixth floor of the parking facility.
He’s believed to be about 30 years old, 5-foot-9, and 190 pounds, and has brown eyes, short braids and a mustache.
In addition to the red, white and blue button-down shirt, he was last seen wearing denim shorts and white sneakers.

A mother-daughter duo flew into a rage at Newark Airport and attacked a Port Authority cop, authorities said Friday.

Nephatira Dansby, 24, of East Orange was blocking traffic at Terminal A as she picked up her mom, Katrina (Sunshine) Dansby, 42, at 5 p.m. Thursday, said PA spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
As the cop walked up to the driver’s side of Dansby's Chevrolet and knocked on the window, the young woman opened the door, striking the officer, Pentangelo said. Nephatira Dansby then got out of the car and allegedly punched the officer.
Katrina Dansby, who had been in New Orleans and was exiting the terminal at the time, joined in and held the cop as her daughter continued to land punches, officials said.

Federal prosecutors are investigating whether the route was set up, in part, to provide former Port Authority Chairman David Samson with more direct travel between Newark and his weekend home in Aiken, S.C., about 50 miles from the airport in Columbia. There were two round trips a week, with a flight to Columbia on Thursday evenings and a flight back to Newark on Monday mornings.
The flight — which Samson referred to as “the chairman’s flight,” according to one source — was initiated when Samson was chairman and stopped three days after his resignation in late March of last year.

The Record first reported earlier this month that the Port Authority had received a federal subpoena related to Samson’s personal travel and his communications with United and its former lobbying frim, Fox Shuffler. A principal of the firm at the time, Jamie Fox, is now Governor Christie’s transportation commissioner. Fox is also a close friend of Samson’s.

Pennsylvania Gentleman, 34, Reveals He Wants To Kill New York City Police

A man yelling “I want to kill cops” tried to run down two Port Authority Police officers with his car near the entrance to the ­Holland Tunnel Wednesday night in the latest attack on officers.
Matthew Christian Cash, who has an extensive criminal record, was barreling down a restricted fire lane near Varick and Watts streets when he barely missed cops patrolling the tunnel and smashed his silver Audi right into their ­police cruiser at about 8 p.m., authorities said.
After crashing into the cruiser, the unhinged man twice screamed “I want to kill cops” and struggled with officers trying to detain him, according to sources.

Cash, 24, was traveling with a female companion who told officers he received a phone call that seemed to upset him just before he flipped out and sped into the cop car.
Officers on the scene said it wasn’t clear if he was aiming for the two cops or a security booth near the tunnel.
Police sources said synthetic marijuana was found in the Audi and the crazed man claimed he was on angel dust.
Cash, who lives in Easton, Pa., has previously been arrested on a slew of charges including assault, criminal mischief and reckless ­endangerment, records show.

He was arrested in November 2013 for beating up his girlfriend and throwing a bag of oranges at his 5-year-old son, a report said.

The terminal, which opened in 1950 a block east of the Lincoln Tunnel, was designed for smaller buses and fewer passengers. Space and capacity issues now cause regular delays for the NJ Transit buses, which account for 70 percent of the terminal’s traffic.
Buses forced to wait for gates spew exhaust and contribute to traffic congestion. The lack of a garage means empty buses are driven back to New Jersey following the morning rush; and then return empty to pick up homeward-bound commuters in the evening.

I've been on a NJ Transit Bus which rode up and down NYC streets for about 20 minutes waiting for a berth to enter the terminal and discharge passengers.

After 168 arrests this fine gentleman was free to continue his volunteer groping services for lonely women on NY area subways. No one was watching this hirsute public spirited citizen. No police, no crime family, no FBI informants, no Communists. No one was harassing this gentleman, or disturbing his sleep. Port Authority Dysfunctional Organization. Is This News?

There is no mention of the PA police who unlike City and state police remain unaccountable for what they do. Without that huge over paid bureaucracy it is possible that the tolls would be eliminated by now. But with the protected stream of revenue with no accountability there is no need to act responsibly. This will go on forever unless Cuomo and Christie have the spine to take drastic action.

There is no time like the present as union officials go on 7-day cruises with union dues and hob nob with the rich and famous as long as their funding keeps coming from the fools who work for a living.
