San Diego, CA Gentleman Wanted For Attacks on Homeless, Two Killed

[From article]
'Authorities in San Diego say there may be an assailant burning and attacking homeless people in their sleep.
Two men are dead and one is lying in a hospital bed with life-threatening injuries after a string of deadly attacks during a 25 hour period in San Diego County, authorities said.
On Sunday morning, police received several 911 calls from witnesses saying they saw a man on fire, running down the train tracks alongside Interstate 5, according to CNN affiliate KSWB. The charred body of a male was later found so badly burned that authorities couldn't tell whether he had suffered any trauma prior to being set ablaze, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Lee Swanson said. At about the same time, witnesses reported seeing another man in his late 40s to early 50s darting across the freeway away from the train tracks carrying a gas can, said Lt. Manny Del Toro with the San Diego Police.
Two similarly brutal attacks took place early Monday morning, police say.
[. . .]
This isn't the first time San Diego County has seen violence targeting homeless and transient populations. Earlier this year, two brothers and a female teenager were accused of fatally beating a homeless man in El Cajon after one of the brothers allegedly got into a fight with some other homeless people in the area.

Two Earthquakes in Japan Leave 48 Dead, 100,000 Homeless

A girl carries a bag of water collected from a water tank truck in Kumamoto, Japan Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Many residents were still recovering from the shock of the destruction by earthquakes, while struggling to bring their lives, and spirit, together.

[From article]
Searchers found a man's body Wednesday in a landslide-hit area in southern Japan, bringing the death toll to 48 from two powerful earthquakes last week. Three people remain missing.
Kumamoto prefecture said another 11 people have died from illnesses believed to be related to the physical stress of evacuation.
More than 100,000 people are homeless or have fled their homes as aftershocks continue to shake the area. Many are living in cramped conditions in shelters or even their cars, with limited food and water.
A magnitude-6.5 earthquake on Thursday night followed by a 7.3 quake early Saturday morning caused widespread damage in parts of Kumamoto city and surrounding communities on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan's four main islands.
The body was found in the mountain village of Minamiaso, where the second quake triggered landslides that slammed into buildings and across roads. Soldiers and other rescue workers used backhoes and shovels to search through dirt and debris for the missing.
Rain is forecast for Thursday, raising fears of more landslides.
In all, 14 victims have been found in Minamiaso. The hardest-hit town appears to be Mashiko, where 20 people died. Kumamoto prefecture has tallied 1,454 homes destroyed so far, of which 1,026 are in Mashiko.
Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it would restart most assembly lines next week after they were halted because of earthquake-related parts shortages.

Dallas, Texas Building Cottages For Homeless, Housing First Then Solving Problems

Tent City Dallas To Be Destroyed

[From article]
For rent: brand new one-bedroom apartments in the shadow of downtown Dallas, a short walk from one of the city’s trendiest areas. On-site concierge. Successful applicants will be homeless, mentally ill and possess criminal records.
These are strange-sounding tenant requirements, but The Cottages at Hickory Crossing is an unusual kind of project. It is a “housing first” strategy: find the homeless a permanent place of their own before trying to solve their problems, rather than the other way around.
The fifty 400sq ft units are set to open in April in north Texas. Despite its bucolic name, Hickory Crossing is wedged between freeways a mile from the city’s high-rises, with railroad tracks, warehouses and the nightlife of the Deep Ellum district close by. One of the nonprofits that has raised the funds for the multimillion dollar project, CitySquare, has an Opportunity Center across the road offering a variety of services for low-income Dallas residents.
“In order to live across the street you have to be chronically homeless, disabled, with some presenting mental health issue, typically drugs or alcohol, and you have to have a criminal background. If you haven’t been in jail you can’t stay in our houses,” says Larry James, CitySquare’s CEO.
The process of selecting tenants is under way. It began by identifying the 300 most expensive homeless people in the county, based on their cost to city services such as the health and prison systems.

The Cottages at Hickory Crossing

“We will have 50 of the most expensive homeless persons. The average cost per person on this list of 300 to the county alone, not counting the city or nonprofit organisations, is over $40,000 a year to stay outside. We’re going to provide a gated community with security, seven day a week mental health services, really good housing – platinum LEED certified – every house has a bedroom scaled to queen-sized furniture, a living room, kitchen and a bath, a nice front porch. Less than $15,000 a year is what it costs to provide that kind of housing,” James says.
All for a rent of 30% of the tenant’s monthly income – whether it is $1,000 or $10. The only requirement? “Be a good tenant,” James says. That means no criminal or disruptive behaviour; but no pressure on residents to immediately go sober if they are addicted to alcohol, for example. Help will be on hand when they are ready.
“I’ve heard stories of people getting ‘housing first’ and sleeping with the door open because it’s such a massive shift, it took months or even a year for them to be able to shut and lock the door,” says Jonathan Grace, a pastor who works with the homeless in Dallas.
Other models for housing that focus on mental illness and alcoholism have been credited with reducing chronic homelessness in Utah by 91% and have been tried in cities including Seattle, Los Angeles and New York.
[. . .]
Some 40% of homeless adults in Dallas are severely mentally ill.
[. . .]
The sprawling homeless encampment beneath a freeway overpass grew to be so large that it encompassed hundreds of tents and distinct neighbourhoods: the alcoholics, the drug users, the young people, clustered on a dusty patch of wasteland close to the shimmering glass skyscrapers of downtown and a giant billboard advertising a banana-yellow Ford Mustang. Clothes hung on a metal fence, pigeons pecked at the ground and portable toilets stood in a corner near a truck providing medical services.
[. . .]
James believes the cottages could promote a more enlightened approach to homelessness in Texas, one that emphasizes trust, time and collaboration. “People given resources and opportunities typically work hard to solve their own problems. We just don’t respect that enough,” he says.

NYC Subway Rider Slashed By Beggar

[From article]
A man was slashed across the face by a beggar inside a lower Manhattan train station Friday morning, police said.
The victim told cops that as he was standing on the subway platform at the Chambers Street station on the A line at around 5:10 a.m., a man approached him and asked him for money, police said.
When the victim refused, the man slashed him across the face.
The injured man then left the train station and called 911 from his place of work, cops said.
He suffered a minor cut to his face and refused medical aid on the scene.
The suspect, who police described as 5-foot-8 wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, is still at large.

New York City Knows How To Increase Homeless Population, While Providing Housing to Illegal Aliens

Elimination of blight, destroying flop houses increased homelessness. DeBlasio is Mayor of the US, no time for NYC. Taxpayers provide, housing, food, legal assistance, health care, college tuition, driver's licenses, for illegal aliens. Homeless veterans and American citizens,  live with none of the above. Why are so many taxpayers and voters silent and cooperative with the criminals who run the government and waste taxpayer funds?

[From article]
But Mayor Bill De Blasio was up for the challenge and under his administration he has managed to attract recordbreaking numbers of homeless to the streets of New York. Here's how he did it:
[. . .]
Step 1: Discourage police from enforcing quality of life laws
[. . .]
Step 2: Let the liberal population continue to fund the drug habits of the homeless, and encourage them to stay on the streets
[. . .]

Step 3: Continue supporting rent control laws which shrink the pool of available housing and create disincentives to create more.
Step 4: Decriminalize drug use and release the insane from the mental hospitals.

Destroying Blight, Brought On Homelessness

NYPD Commissioner appears to forget the closing of the "flophouses" under the misguided goal of cleaning up blighted neighborhoods. Before the cleanup, alcoholic homeless persons were able to get enough to pay for a night off the streets. When the cheap overnight housing units were destroyed there was no place to stay. These people ended up on the streets of the cities and towns. Blaming de-institutionaization is a diversion for the benefit of the psychiatric industry and the pharmaceutical corporations in partnership with the human services industrial complex (MA State Rep. Marie Parente's term). Here again the Police Commissioner blames mental illness for the problem. What about housing as a solution? Ever think of that Mr. Bratton?

[From article]
There have been two attacks by homeless people in recent days. One of them involved a 72 year-old architect waiting at a corner, stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors by a homeless woman.
The other attack was on a tourist leaving his Grand Central hotel. He was clubbed in the face by a homeless man.

Two Boston Gentlemen Brothers Arrested for Attacking Sleeping Homeless Man

Scott J. Leader, 38

Steve M. Leader, 30

Here's another example of the result of misguided priorities of this White House. Spending billions providing homes, food and lawyers for illegal immigrants while veterans and American citizens live on the streets. How is this event different from the gentleman who traveled to New York City to kill two  NYPD officers believing that Michael Brown was killed as he stood passively with his hands up. What role do the elite journalists in DC, NY and Boston play in creating an atmosphere where there is little respect for other humans? Keeping people misinformed does have consequences.

[From article]
Two Southie brothers are accused of “walking away laughing” after urinating on and savagely beating a sleeping homeless man they took for an illegal immigrant, with one claiming they were inspired by Donald Trump.
Scott J. Leader, 38, and Steve M. Leader, 30, of Old Colony Avenue were returning home from a Red Sox game after midnight yesterday, when police say they randomly targeted a 58-year-old homeless man as he lay in his sleeping bag near the JFK/UMass T station.
“Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported,” Scott Leader said during booking after bragging that he “tuned (up) that illegal immigrant,” according to a police report.
Police Commissioner William B. Evans said it’s people such as the Leader brothers that give Southie a bad name.
[. . .]
The “vicious, unprovoked” attack, officials say, left the homeless man hospitalized with a broken nose, serious bruising across his torso and other injuries. Cops responding to the scene say they found him “laying on the ground, shaking, his face was soaking wet.”
After urinating on the man, police say witnesses told them the duo took to beating him with a metal pole and were seen “walking away laughing.”
But the Leader brothers’ alleged rampage didn’t end on Columbia Road, police say. They are also accused of “exposing themselves and urinating in the cell, challenging troopers to come into the cells to fight, banging on the cell door, and making threatening and anti-immigration statements.”

Homeless Gentleman Sought For Attack On 78-year-old California Woman

Alan Kierkegaard, 50

[From article]
An elderly church volunteer was left in the hospital unable to speak on Monday after she was brutally attacked in front of her church.
Mary Grace Tassone’s family says the 78-year-old is still in the intensive care unit, suffering from brain injuries. She’s unable to speak, so she can’t talk to police about what happened to her on Sunday morning.
Police say the man responsible is Alan Kierkegaard, 50, a homeless man they say attacked her outside her church on Sunday morning.
[. . .]
Grass Valley police say churchgoers told them they had seen Kierkegaard hanging around St. Patrick’s church for about a week before Sunday’s attack. They say as Tassone arrived early to open the doors for Sunday’s service, Kierkegaard struck her on the head and stole her car.

[From article]
The items were found when police apprehended career criminal West Spruill, 39, and recovered the .40-caliber pistol he used to gun down the innocent woman as she ran naked down the street trying to escape an attempted rape.
Spruill stalked Ana Charle, 36, as she left left her job at the Project Renewal shelter on Bronx Boulevard in Wakefield at about 5:45 p.m. Monday and walked to her Honda parked a block away.
That’s when the maniac pulled a gun on her and ordered her into the back seat and then told her to take off her clothes, police sources said.

The sources said Spruill did not have a chance to restrain the woman’s wrists because she slipped out of the car and ran naked down the street.
But she didn’t make it very far before Spruill caught up with her and gunned her down, firing two .40-caliber slugs into her head and one into her torso.

Charle, a native of Spain, was rushed to Montefiore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“She requested security, but they never provided it at that place,” Alcendor said, referring to problem-plagued Project Renewal.
Spruill found his way to Project Renewal in June of last year, just months after being set free from a Michigan prison where he served seven years for assault with a deadly weapon, the source said.
He was also charged with misdemeanor assault in Brooklyn last month.
He crashed at Charle’s facility until January, when he left to take up residence at another shelter in Manhattan and lived there until April 7, sources said.
Investigators believe Spruill returned to the Bronx shelter with the intention of committing the crime against Charle.

Homeless New York City Sex Offender Arrested For Third Rape

Rodney Stover is charged with the rape of a woman in a restroom in an East Side bar.

[From article]
Unbeknownst to her, the ex-con was hiding in the restroom’s middle stall while she was using the toilet.
Afterward, the woman opened her stall door to exit only to find Stover standing in front of her, sources said.
Stover grabbed her by the neck and snarled, “I’m going to rape you. Be quiet,” sources said, adding that he also groped her and licked her body.
He then ripped off her pants and began raping her, but couldn’t sustain his erection, sources said. Embarrassed, Stover fled the restaurant, sources said.
The terrified victim ran out of the bathroom and told her boyfriend, who reported the attack.
Stover was arrested on rape charges in Southampton in 1992 and was released in July 2012. He served another two years and seven months for a crime there, before being released on Valentine’s Day of this year.

Nine NYC Doctors Charged With Medicaid Fraud, Sneakers For "Let me see your Medicaid Card."

New York Post did a feature story about this several years ago. Perhaps they were who alerted the clueless government.

[From article]
“Free sneakers, shoes and boots today,” Bernard Rorie shouted, standing outside a soup kitchen in East New York, Brooklyn, where he was being recorded by investigators
Mr. Rorie was recruiting homeless people, prosecutors said, and whoever had a valid Medicaid card would be packed into a van and sent to medical clinics around New York City. There, after hours of unnecessary tests and fake diagnoses, the homeless people would be sent off with sneakers — selected from stacks of shoeboxes in the clinics’ basements. The doctors, staff members and billing specialists, meanwhile, would rack up hundreds or thousands of dollars per recruit in false Medicaid claims, prosecutors said.
On Tuesday, nine New York doctors were among 23 people indicted in State Supreme Court in Brooklyn in connection with the sneaker scheme, which the Brooklyn district attorney’s office said made almost $7 million and took advantage of thousands of homeless people.
The charges in the indictment include health fraud, enterprise corruption and money laundering.

[. . .]
The doctors in the group made money by, for instance, seeing a patient for four minutes and billing for 30 minutes, or claiming they had reviewed tests when they had not, or simply billing for procedures they had never done, prosecutors said. Some doctors paid Mr. Vainer a referral fee for each recruit, while some split the Medicaid payment with him.
Mr. Vainer made money from the scheme in several ways: He owns medical clinics where the patients were sent; he supplies devices for foot and leg problems; and he had financial arrangements with doctors to whom he sent the recruited homeless patients, prosecutors said.
Mr. Vainer also made money by supplying cheap equipment and billing it to Medicaid as a custom medical device — for instance, supplying a drugstore shoe insert and billing it to Medicaid as a custom orthotic, for which he received about $330.
[. . .]
Some of the doctors involved are affiliated with well-known institutions. Dr. Joseph Grossman, 82, a cardiologist, was a clinical assistant professor of medicine at New York Medical College. The vein surgeon Dr. David Glass, 65, a former assistant chief of surgery at New York Methodist, is an assistant clinical professor at Cornell, according to his website. Dr. Grossman and Dr. Glass pleaded not guilty.

Updated: Misguided Priorities: Politicians Talk Don't Act To Help Homeless People, Give Taxpayer Funded Benefits to Illegal Aliens

Posted February 21, 2015 5:19 PM ET; Last updated February 25, 2015 8:39 PM ET

Here's an example of the priorities of politicians. While veterans have no homes, illegal aliens are being showered with taxpayer funded benefits.

[From article]
Illegal immigrants who are able to obtain Social Security Numbers and work permits as a result of President Obama’s executive amnesty could claim tens of thousands of dollars in back tax benefits, a new Congressional Research Service memo obtained first by Breitbart News reveals.
The report comes following the Internal Revenue Service’s confirmation that once illegal immigrants are granted Social Security Numbers — as a result of Obama’s executive actions — they will be able to file back tax returns and obtain up to four years of tax benefits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC).
The new CRS report — dated Wednesday and requested to gauge the tax benefits an amnesty beneficiary could potentially accrue — looks at the amount of EITC and CTC for a hypothetical family from from 2011-2014.

The highest priority of state and US government taxpayer funds and law enforcement will remain, ensuring that all states permit same sex marriage. Next will be free college, EBT cards, and Wi-Fi for all poor families in the world. Then maybe taxpayer money will fund academic studies of how to best help veterans without homes. What is the rush? The snow will eventually melt.

In the Cambridge Chronicle article, City Councilor McGovern admits what he does is ludicrous but that does not stop him from doing good with a reporter following him. That is what John Kerry perfected, and many other celebrities practice. They help vulnerable people but make certain there are reporters who record what they do. McGovern actually admits that the city is nine years into their ten year plan to end homelessness. The city received US taxpayer funds only after they submitted their plan. So much for studies. It is a waste of money but keeps academic consultants employed. Homeless people need homes, not studies, or blankets or day care centers. Homes.

NYC Pays $14.6 million Per Year to Store Homeless Persons' Belongings

Andrea Logan’s possessions have been locked up in a Storage Post facility.
Photo: Robert Kalfus (2)

[From article]
Andrea Logan’s possessions have been locked up — at taxpayer expense — since she lost her Upper East Side apartment in 2006 after a debilitating stroke, court records reveal.
And the city has picked up the tab, following a state law that requires it to cover storage expenses for homeless people.
Logan, 54, had jammed 11 storage units full of belongings in the years after her stroke, and officials didn’t notice the huge tab until it reached $3,585 a month last year.
That’s more than enough to score a one-bedroom duplex in Greenwich Village with a fireplace and roof deck, or a newly renovated, two-bedroom pad on the Upper East Side.

[. . .]

But taxpayers are still footing the bill for her belongings. State law mandates that the city pay for storing furniture and personal belongings for homeless people “so long as eligibility for public assistance continues and so long as the circumstances necessitating the storage continue to exist.”
In the years since Logan became homeless, the cost to taxpayers for providing such storage to homeless people has soared from a total $6.8 million in fiscal year 2006 to $14.6 million in fiscal year 2014.

Denmark City Tracks Homeless To Improve Their Lives

[From article]
Tom Rodding of Odense council said the city outfitted 20 local homeless people with GPS trackers so officials can keep track of their movements and improve city planning for objects such as benches and shelters.
"In short, we want to know how we in the council can adapt and keep making offers to the socially marginalized. Those who just want to sit on a bench and drink beers. We know too little about how they move around town," Rodding told the Metroxpress newspaper.
Rodding said the devices, which the volunteers have been asked to carry in their pockets for one week, will also make it easier for social workers to find those they intend to help.

While veterans and homeless American citizens sleep in the streets, the Obama-Holder-Johnson triumvirate splurges using taxpayer funds to provide plush housing for illegal aliens. Here's more evidence that Obama-Holder-Johnson are destroying the nation from within. It is hopeful that none of the three members of the oligarchy exhibit a smidgen of mendacity. Oh wait, didn't right wing extremists say that Obama lied once in 2008? Is that a smidgen? If they lied a lot they might be thought to be spies, who lie a lot, if not all of the time. Feel better now?

Welcome to America!
The Obama administration has awarded a $50 million contract to a charitable group to buy a Texas resort hotel and transform it in to a 600 bed facility for juvenile illegal aliens.
According to a Hidalgo County commissioner, the BCFS contract for the Palm Aire Hotel and Suites is an annual one worth $50 million per year. It is not part of the $3.7 billion emergency funding for the illegal alien invasion requested by the Obama administration as the bill hasn’t yet passed but it is a good indication of where the money will go.
