Cambridge City Council Demands No Job Cuts At Harvard University Medical School

The Cambridge City Council remains focused on matters over which they have no jurisdiction. It continues to ignore egregious corruption that affects every citizen in the City--30 years of homicide and government corruption by James Bulger and his merry band of murderers. The show trial targets one man, who was allowed by the FBI, Boston and other local police, state and US prosecutors, to conduct his violent criminal business for 30 years. No mention of the extensive corruption by the City Council, the state legislature, the governor, any of the the five law schools, and government schools in Boston and Cambridge. The entertaining Cambridge City Council has misguided priorities.

Conscience of the Cambridge City Council

Cambridge City Councilors

On May 6, 2013 at a regular meeting of the Cambridge MA City Council a late order was introduced for the second time concerning changes at The Cambridge Health Alliance in psychiatric services for children 3 to 7 years-old. They are being combined with the psychiatric services for children 8 to 12 and above according to some of the Councilors.

During discussion transcribed below, the most righteous of the Councilors reprimanded the Mayor for questioning the motives of the sponsors of the order. But more perplexing is the alleged lack of communication with the City Council about management of the hospital. Curiously the righteous Councilor (and State Representative) Marjorie "Conscience of the City" Decker, did not mention that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the hospital, Ellen Semonoff, is the City's Assistant Manager for Human Services.

Ellen Semonoff, Chairman of Board of Trustees, Cambridge Health Alliance; Assistant Cambridge City Manager for Human Services

She speaks to the Council during their meetings regularly. The former Cambridge City Assistant Manager Finance Director, Louis De Pasquale is also on the Board of Trustees of the hospital. Here's a portion of the discussion transcribed to the best of my ability. I omitted some of the "ums" and "ahs."

What is of concern is that non of the Councilors are apprehensive about in-patient psychiatric treatment of 3-year-olds. Are they saying no too much? Are they not sitting still with their hands folded enough? How much earlier can the psychiatric industry recruit clients and add to the number of civilians with "a history of mental illness?"

Louis DePasquale, Former Cambridge Assistant City Manager for Finance; Member of the Board of Trustees of Cambridge Health Alliance

Mayor Davis: "I just want to add that I too heard from Mr. Wardell [Patrick Wardell Chief Executive Officer, Cambridge Health Alliance] about this and I think some of the facts as being represented now are not exactly right. I believe that [for] the zero to eight [year-olds] there will be no services in this community and that the services that are being combined over eight years old, I'm not sure I'm exactly right, but I don't think, it may not be exactly as the Vice Mayor may have deduced. The other thing is that, that surprised me was to learn that these services are actually regional already. That surely there will be loss of services to Cambridge children, but these services have been for, are really state wide, some of them, and that the crisis in beds for children in mental health is huge, but it's not that Cambridge Hospital was only serving Cambridge kids, it was serving children from other parts of the state, other parts of the region as well. So it's a rather complicated problem, and I, I think that, I mean we're all aware that the mental health crisis in funding is such that it causes some of these unexpected and undesired consequences ultimately. So I don't, I guess I don't want to assume the worst in turns of motive. I don't like the outcome. But I don't think the motive is to, is, is one of trying to take services away from Cambridge kids, but the desire to manage to have, hold the rest of the services in place, so that those services for the older kids are available."

Patrick Wardell, CEO, Cambridge Health Alliance

Marjorie Decker: "Madam Mayor."

Cambridge City Councilor and State Representative Marjorie Decker

Mayor Davis: "Councilor Decker."

Mayor Henrietta Davis

Marjorie Decker: "Yea, I think it's important also in your own language, I don't think anyone here myself and Vice Mayor Simmons, or Councilor Toomey who put this order in, are suggesting the worst of the Cambridge Health Alliance. I would really ask you to just be thoughtful when talking about our motives because our motives did not say . . ."

Cambridge City Councilor and State Representative Marjorie Decker

Mayor Henrietta Davis

Mayor Davis: "I'm not, I'm not talking about . . ."

Cambridge City Councilor and State Representative Marjorie Decker

Marjorie Decker: "that we assumed the worst of them. I would say the point remains that major resource issues are taking place that is affecting our community. Legislators in the surrounding areas who also are, have also signed onto a  letter expressing concerns about this move to Boston. It absolutely, if you don't think that having these services now located in Boston will have an impact on families here, and I'm very aware of the surrounding areas whose families are served, there are a number of people who are quite concerned, not only by this, but that the Health Alliance needs to see our community, surrounding community that it serves, as a, as partners to turn to and to collaborate to, not to necessarily make decisions and then come back and tell us to live with the results. This is our community hospital. The City doesn't own it anymore. So it's not the City Hospital officially. But it does serve, um, it serves the well insured, uh, like my family, and it serves the under insured and it serves the very, the most vulnerable families who live amongst us. And what we are seeing, because it's a resource issue, and I was very careful to say that earlier, what we continue to see is the Cambridge Health Alliance as we know it disappearing. Now if you're not worried about being able to hop in your car and go pay 20 bucks to drive in Boston. Not a big deal if you have the flexibility in your schedule and your time, maybe not a big deal. There are a lot of families in Cambridge who don't have that option. So for the Health Alliance it is absolutely critical that it sees that the communities that they are serving as partners and advocates and exhaust all those resources. Not one phone call did I or anyone in the legislative delegation get saying, "You know what, we'd really like an amendment in the budget because we think we're going to lose the ability to continue these services." Um. Those, that has to happen, that kind of communication, and briefing and dialogue has to happen. It cannot be, it cannot be comfortable for those of us who serve this community, and feel a deep responsibility for the health and the well-being of this community, and in particular those who are the most vulnerable and marginalized in this community, who depend on the excellent medical care and services at the Cambridge Health Alliance. There's no other hospital in the country that I would choose. There's no hospital in Boston that I would choose over accessing my health care in the Cambridge Health Alliance. It's that good. And people who are well-insured should really continue to know that. Um. Because it's really an amazing place with amazing medical team, um, and staff. I continue to say to them, and I, uh, would encourage you to not be comfortable with their choices. To be comfortable only when in fact you know that they have exhausted all possibilities working with us as community leaders and all the Community leaders that they have at their access, at, that they have access to, that they are working and really seeing us as problem solvers. Maybe there is nothing to be done at the end of the day. But certainly having a conversation about what choices are available, and what's at stake if we don't make, um, certain choices. That's the conversation that I'm pushing for. Thank you."

Cambridge City Council Labors On, Ignoring The City's Role In Terror Attack

Cambridge City Council

Reporter forgot the 5-4 vote on the rule allowing reconsideration of council orders at meetings The Council Rule conflicts with Robert's Rules of Order. The Council voted to ignore Robert's Rules under which, the Council's own rules mandate they are obligated to run their meetings. The City Council uses two rules for their meetings. One limits public comment to three minutes per speaker. The other is Robert's Rule which allows suspension of the rules. It is a form of controlled anarchy, under the pretension of not knowing what they are doing but appearing to know. One essential skill of politicians is being able to fool other people. In a late order from compassionate Councilor Denise Simmons, carried over from the previous meeting, the Council voted to continue funding for placing 3-year-olds in mental hospitals, in order to increase the number of city residents with a history of mental illness.

Cambridge City Council Wants More Persons With a History of Mental Illness

E. Denise Simmons, Cambridge City Councilor introduced a "Late Order" (No. 7 on April 22, 2013) to direct city agencies to broadcast what mental health care is available in the City. This was one week  after two fellas (as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick calls them), who lived in Cambridge set off bombs killing three, shot and killed a MIT Police Officer and wounded 178 others including one Transit Officer. Simmons did not say that she admires Hitler and Stalin who employed psychiatry to control, and to incarcerate an unruly population. Campaign contributions from drug companies and psychiatrists are not always identified. The City Council voted to increase awareness of diversity in the city, while maintaining their intolerance for diverse opinions in Cambridge. Instead of allowing open discussion and notice to citizens and preventing them from speaking on this order, long term City officials like Simmons use this legal technique to pass orders without any scrutiny from citizens. Using the complicated technique of suspending the rules, (all in favor say aye, the rules are suspended) Mayor Davis who chaired the meeting allowed discussion of this late order at the beginning of the meeting. They are usually voted on at the end of the meetings. Is the US Congress imitating the City Council? Or is the City Council imitating the US Congress keeping the herd bewildered, as Noam Chomsky says?

Cambridge MA City Councilor, Henrietta Davis agrees that more psychiatry is needed in the city after two fellas (as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick calls them), who lived in Cambridge set off bombs killing three, shot and killed a MIT Police Officer and wounded 178 others including one Transit Officer. Davis did not say that she admires Hitler and Stalin who employed psychiatry to control, and to incarcerate an unruly population. Campaign contributions from drug companies and psychiatrists are not always identified. The City Council voted to increase awareness of diversity in the city, while maintaining their intolerance for diverse opinions in Cambridge.

Longest serving City Councilor Ken Reeves spoke after passing the late order. He said, "For the nine of us, ah, it's important that we don't assume that we're all OK. And it's important that we understand that as human beings, uh, we have frailties too and vulnerabilities and [. . .] I was not allowed to leave my house. [. . .] I think I'm gonna be fine, but I'm not sure. [. . .] I think we should try to access the best supports we can too." Does that mean he was under house arrest? What was he convicted of? Does it mean Councilor Reeves seeks mental health treatment? Will that mean that he has a history of mental illness?

The Cambridge City Council "Nine of Us."

Marjorie Decker, City Councilor and State Representative spoke about Late Order Number 7 after it was passed. She recognized the importance of "a hug" giggling as she said it. She reported what her in-laws told her about the action in Watertown.
"One of my husband's aunts said she was so incredibly touched that, um, a lot of people came in with the wedding on Saturday, (giggle) but they were so touched that the determination of the, um, the FBI and the Task Force and all the police that were just, that came in, to the neighborhood, this was before we sort of knew what was going on, and they looked out their windows and realized something serious was happening, and the, um, the SWAT teams came into the house, and were so determined and so comforting, people, they, they felt so incredibly safe. And they also felt cared for. So in this incredibly intense moment of not knowing what's gonna happening, and knowing the danger that has already occurred, and, and that could occur, um, the determination of, we are here to help you, we are here to keep you safe, and, and literally the physical care of getting people out of houses to insure that, um, they weren't going to be stepping on anything that they didn't know that could be harmful. I mean, it just, but at the same time, the, the law enforcement were so gentle and sensitive with them as they moved them out, um, both in their words, and in their physical actions. For me it's just really, it, it's, . . . ah, I don't think we really appreciate who is, um, who makes up our first responders, and, and, what it is that they bring to this job, and, um, in so many ways. So, um, I, I'm just, I'm really happy to be part of this community, and we will be a community that grieves together and heals together."

No Second Amendment Rights For You, Now That You Have a History of Mental Illness

"representatives from the various Cambridge public health agencies visited the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School [. . .] to inform students and faculty about the mental health services available to them." Did these caring and loving professionals inform the students that after they enjoy some psychiatric love, they will no longer be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights, and if they are arrested they will be described by police and prosecutors as having "a history of mental illness?" Spineless, clueless, self serving, greedy politicians will keep increasing membership in the group of persons with a history of mental illness. As long as they remain unidentified as social deviants.

Harvard Spin Doctors in Action

Harvard University is a great institution even though it may have lost its way from its founding as a training school for minsters. Their spokespersons  have a standard response whenever someone wants Harvard to honor its obligations, its promises, it contracts.

“Harvard’s buildings are intended to support its core mission of teaching, learning and research, and that involves maintaining living space for students and faculty, labs and research facilities, classrooms and library spaces, as well as space for administrative and support services,” a spokesperson from Harvard said in a prepared statement.

No one can doubt that is true. Harvard's mission is as stated, focused on education and support for education. However in previous activities when Harvard was advancing its core mission of education and support thereof, they encountered some law or ordinance. In order to be allowed to ignore the laws and/or the ordinances, Harvard offered a concession, a trade. "We will give you this consideration if you let us violate that law or ordinance." In City government it is often called a variance. They can vary from the rules of the ordinance without penalty. Previously Harvard made many promises at hearings before various city boards and commissions. After a few years pass the people who attended those meetings are dead, moved or no longer attend the meetings. Harvard representatives also change. They seldom are aware of the past. If they know of it they do not include it in their discussions.

As in this case they pretend that anything outside of their core mission is a burden and unjustified obligation imposed on them by uncaring selfish members of the dreaded "community" (the term Harvard has for those awful people who have no Harvard affiliation).

When the earlier promise, consideration given in trade for a variance, becomes inconvenient, Harvard just changes the focus to make it appear as if they are the offended party, the victim of outsider avarice. This is an example.

City Government Medicalizes Social Problems

The Nazi government imposed restrictions on freedom using health as the justification. Jews were vermin and needed to be eliminated. Medicalizing social problems takes away freedom and Due Process Rights. There are no appeals from a medical diagnosis. Medical professionals especially the omniscient and morally superior psychiatric priest class seldom have any Constitutional knowledge or concern about laws that restrict their behavior. Scoundrels will use any justification in the name of good to do evil. This is one of many misguided government bodies who know no shame and lack common sense. It is one small step in the government assistance of the suicide of the nation. Notice that the business community is being consulted by the smartest elected officials in the city but ignore the will of taxpayers and voters.

Cambridge City Councilor Opposes Gun Violence

We can all feel warm and fuzzy knowing that the Chairman of the
Cambridge City Council meetings also called The Mayor, expressed her
opposition to gun violence and to keeping "children and families
safe." Were you worried as I was that this Mayor supported gun
violence and keeping children and families in dangerous situations?
Did you think that this Mayor shared the values, standards and
philosophy of gun violence that is favored by the Mayors of Chicago,
Philadelphia, St. Louis and Camden NJ?  This Mayor probably supports
education too. It sounds just like her.

Local Criminal Harassment

[Updated Thursday January 17, 2012 2:35 PM]
One day after posting this observation about criminal abuses by two local politicians, a charming and delightful local psychiatrist conducted an evaluation pretending to be an immigrant from the Middle East. It is how liberal politicians in Cambridge operate. If a citizen dares to criticize the spineless morally flexible politicians and their misguided policies they declare the citizen mentally ill. After enough repetitive accusations the local omniscient and morally superior class of psychiatrists take action to evaluate the person with oppositional disorder, those who cannot accept obedience to authority. See e.g., Stanley Milgram's book,  Obedience to Authority. Conducting an evaluation without consent is a violation of state and US laws. But psychiatrists like the liberal criminal politicians in Cambridge have no obligation to comply with laws. Psychiatrists seldom know or care about laws that regulate their dangerous behavior. They are never held accountable for the violence inducing drugs they force others to take which cause violence and mass murder. They are able with the vigorous assistance of journalists to blame the victim of their abuses. If the drugs don't do the job, making their target violent,  the psychiatrists begin harassment and provocations in order to accomplish their goal, inciting violence. See how irrational this person acts. He thinks we are harassing him and provoking him. They do not mention, ridicule, humiliation, threats and insults. They ignore the state Civil Rights statute which makes it a felony to intimidate a person in the free exercise of a Constitutionally protected right. Criticizing politicians is a guaranteed Right. Using psychiatry to intimidate the citizen is a felony. But the law is enforced by criminal associates of the same criminal politicians. It is how they run government in Cambridge, Massachusetts, host city of Harvard University, MIT and Lesley University. Two thugs employed by city politicians joined the newest delightful Harvard University campus police employee woman who coordinates the daily harassment and sleep deprivation at my premises. One tried to caused me to have a heart attack as threatened earlier in the new year. Attempted murder? No problem. Don't worry about it. All taken care of. If you are elected, you are protected. District Attorney is just too busy evaluating the government critics.

Day after posting my report titled "Continuing Character Assassination" January 13, 2013, there was a change of command of the criminals who conduct the daily harassment at my premises, owned and operated by the Presdient and Fellows of Harvard College. Harvard's policy is to allow criminals easy access to their targets especially those tenants who do not obey Harvard administrators and those who dare to criticize Holy Harvard policies. It shows how dynamic criminals are, easily adapting to new conditions more rapidly than any government agency could ever do.

New years bring new beginnings to people. But not for me. For the first two weeks of January 2013, including three days in New York City a group of black homosexual members of the Kennedy Cult were the primary assailants, conducting a brutal campaign of sleep deprivation, even at a New York Hilton Hotel. Some might think they were led by Cambridge City Councilor Ken Reeves, a prominent  black homosexual government official. He's the longest serving City Councilor with a degree from Harvard College and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is from Detroit, Michigan. Any one who knows Councilor Reeves knows he is gentle, sensitive, empathetic, sympathetic, morally responsible, public spirited and altruistic. Reeves could never target a vulnerable person for harassment. I admire Mr. Reeves. He is just not that kind of person.

Ken Reeves, Cambridge City Councilor

For many years Councilor Reeves reportedly participated in a campaign to ridicule me and to humiliate me using psychiatry and persons with disabilities. During the five years I volunteered at the local cable TV station Reeves supporters conducted the worst of the harassment for all five years. When I spoke at City Council meetings when Reeves ran the meetings he would interrupt me and try to stop my expression. He is an unequal opportunity abuser of rights of citizens. He only abuses those he does not like. It is not believable that this elected official would be a part of a campaign to conduct character assassination of a person who he perceives as disabled. Mr. Reeves would never do anything hateful to a vulnerable human. He is a victim living off the taxpayer teat since 1990.

The Councilor is a vigorous supporter of the interests of senior citizens and takes personal credit for having the city wide senior center built. He speaks for rich and poor homosexuals, for rich and poor black people. He speaks for rich and, well, for Harvard University, his alma mater too. Councilor Reeves hit the jackpot at Harvard. He now lives in a mansion which is worth more than $1 million. He does not speak for rich or poor heterosexual white men.

His supporters made regular threats to kill, to arrest and to put me in hospitals. They are charming kindly and considerate abusers of power in the land of optional laws. In a different state law abiding citizens would not be abused by local thugs and police employees. Criminals would be held accountable for their abuses of power, preying on vulnerable citizens. But in Cambridge MA black homosexuals are allowed to live above and beyond laws.

While he served as City Councilor and as State Senator, local lawyer (Providence College and Suffolk Law School) Anthony Galluccio shares the sensitivities of Councilor Reeves. Galluccio would never target for ridicule and for humiliation a person he considered disabled. Neither Reeves nor Galluccio would use their power to denigrate a vulnerable citizen. Like Reeves, Galluccio apparently believes the FBI lies about me that "He's a retired drug dealer." Still I admire Mr. Galluccio.

Anthony Galluccio,
State Senator, City Councilor

On January 13 as I observed the change of harassment command, the new psychopaths uttered the same threats as the previous group of black homosexuals: "You will be hit." using crime family jargon as they disturbed my sleep. Even though Galluccio might see me as a disabled person who used to sell drugs, he would never humiliate me or ridicule me for that. He is too considerate. One thing I learned over many years of being harassed by useful idiots who acted on governmenet lies, it is impossible to change a mind. It is easier to open a rock than a mind. There is no way that either Reeves or Galluccio as members of the Kennedy Cult would believe anything other than what their leaders tell them to believe.

The Kennedy Cult remains in charge of daily criminal harassment at my home with the approval of The President and Fellows of Harvard College. They are only the latest in a series of political and business organizations, and police agencies who took turns criminally harassing me and denying to me the basic rights of an American citizen. Each day the primary, on site assailants, violate at least four felony state statutes, at least one US felony and perhaps some misdemeanors. But it is an Optional Law Area, Harvard University property in Massachusetts, where inconvenient laws can be ignored. As an Attorney General once said, "In Massachusetts technically it is not illegal to be illegal."

Martha Coakley, Massachusetts Attorney General.
Wife Of High Ranking Retired Cambridge Police Officer

That is obviously true from my experience. This is the political organization that adopted me in 1968, then allowed seven crime families to take turns retaliating after they used me to fight organized crime and did not pay me. Now the adoptive family leads the criminal abuse.

The woman I dated for three months when I was in law school turned out to be a lesbian. She was employed by the former Soviet Union and now works for the Kennedy Cult supporting Obama. She is married to a black homosexual employed by the FBI. They claim to be my friends and tell everyone I meet and knew, "He's a retired drug dealer." They likely broadcast more details, but I am unaware of what else they say.

J. Edgar Hoover, Founder,
Director, FBI

Who needs enemies when I had a biracial couple to defend me when the FBI stirred up racial animosity? They were there to say "We're his friends." It is a pattern developed by the founder of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. He was described as the arsonist and the fireman. He would create problems to force the victims to seek help from the FBI. It is a way to get control of a person who the FBI needs to control.

Alas, on January 14, 2013 the charming and always delightful young lady protected by the Harvard University campus cops returned to her adjacent apartment to resume her mission harassing me, stalking me. Before she left she informed me about her relationship with me saying "I own you." Her first announcement this time is "You'll never see them again." without explaining who "them" is. This one is reportedly employed by the Southern crime family based in Atlanta. The profile they broadcast includes: "He is homeless, mentally ill, and a high school dropout." It is hard to keep the players straight without a program. I am in negotiations with the  company which publishes the basketball programs for the Brooklyn Nets.

Equality Rules In Cambridge

You may have heard about low information voters and taxpayers. In Cambridge there are low information political activists. The letter writer celebrates the remarkable filing of a complaint with the state Attorney General about an alleged violation of the Open Meetings Law by The Cambridge City Council. What? These late comers are unaware of the reply of the Council when challenged that they were violating that law about 20 times in 2003 when Harvard was getting city permissions to build the new graduate dorms on Hingham and Akron Streets at Banks Street in Cambridge. The response was, "Open Meetings Law? What Open Meetings Law? We don't got to obey no stinkin' Open Meetings Law." And the Attorney General agreed with the council's lawlessness. The state government is run by the same political interests as the City Council. They do not want to offend one another and so ignore law violations. It is how Massachusetts and Cambridge do business. One party rules best!

Then it was not emails passed among the Councilors to avoid Open Meetings Law requirements. They tried to have only four Councilors in a meeting room at City Hall at one time in order not to have a quorum, requiring an open meeting. They stopped me twice when I tried to enter telling me it was a private meeting. They tried to thwart the requirements of the Open Meetings Law then as they did this year. They are so used to ignoring inconvenient laws, that they show no remorse. They are being imitated by the President and his Attorney General in Washington DC.

The usual response by Councilors when confronted by concerned citizens about state law and city ordinance violations is "Will you shut up." It is surprising that the editors of the local paper published the letter revealing these council misadventures. They refused to publish my letters and allowed officials to libel me when I complained about corruption. The notion of equality is understood by city officials and the editors as some people are more equal than others in Cambridge.

Cambridge City Council Wants to Fund Program Eliminated by US Government

Here is a classic example of why it is impossible to end taxpayer funded programs which have outlived their usefulness. Cambridge City Council may be extreme regarding irrational behavior wasting taxpayer funds, but the same pattern can be found in almost all governments in the US. From Bell CA, and its $787,000 City Manager to the US handing out taxpayer money for imaginary reasons. In his book, After America, Mark Steyn shows with hilarious humor how today's politicians waste taxpayer money and are unable to stop.

Pro Se Lawsuit Challenges Judge Selection Process

If the process is flawed maybe all of the judges appointed will be removed from the bench. Politicians in MA have little use for laws and procedure. To them laws are optional due to the one party dictatorship in the state. In Cambridge e.g., the City Council rules demand their meetings be run by Robert's Rules of Order. None of them for 20 years that I've been watching know those rules. The only one they know is to suspend the rules. Legally all of the decisions violate due process rights of citizens. But what court in this depraved state would uphold the laws? Not likely at all. How many Judge Mark Wolfs are there in the world. See Howie Carr's newest book, Hitman to see how many overtly biased lawyers with relaxed rectitude are appointed to the state and US courts in MA. Same sex marriage was legalized in violation of the MA state Constitution. No one has ever recognized that flawed court decision which continues to create controversy by the spineless politicians with limited rational abilities who lead the state.

Will City Comply With Order To Release Records?

[This letter was published in the print edition of the Cambridge Chronicle on May 24, 2012, page 10.]

Congratulations to the editor of the Chronicle for persistence to get these documents. It is not clear that the city will comply with the finding by the Supervisor of Public Records. In a previous case the Chronicle stopped after the Supervisor determined the city must reveal the questions asked of new hires about their thoughts about other employees. The city refused to release those records. If the city still refuses to comply with this determination it can be pursued in state court, where attorneys fees can be awarded. Cambridge is like the Obama administration saying they are compassionate and transparent but if you are one of the few citizens who watch what the councilors and the manager (and the President) do it is clear they are a lawless bunch of self serving politicians with no concern for ordinary citizens.

Cambridge City Council Enhances Tech Access

Worshipping technology is bad enough. But focusing on high tech superfluous software systems for government exposes misguided elitist priorities. There's no end to fancy data delivery systems software companies can create. The Cambridge Chapter of the Spending Other People's Money Society wastes taxpayer money while human beings live in shelters, while persons with disabilities are denied access to government services. The People's Republic morphed into the City of Controlled Citizens. When will police be trained to protect citizens from criminal abuses of technology? Councilors who allegedly set policy are more concerned with enabling faster and sexier access to city departments. Telephones no longer work? Emails blocked? Maybe a study is needed to learn why so few people have respect for politicians?

City Council Drafts Budget?

The headline is misleading. To suggest that the City Council is even capable of drafting a budget is laughable. They seldom read the entire budget. Not only voters are clueless about details of how government works but also elected officials who are paid to know, seldom do. Recall that not one US elected official read the boondoggle health care bill before it was passed and signed into law. The Spending Other People's Money Society has no cares for where it comes from, only where it goes to. As Shakespeare said (King Lear), "Ripeness is all."

Cambridge Council's Policy Order on Technology

Link to order
http://www2.cambridgema.gov/cityclerk/PolicyOrder.cfm?item_id=34138

Cambridge City Council policy order on public meetings and technology may merit reconsideration. The City Manager purchased new wireless microphones for the Planning Board Meetings at the Broadway Annex building.
The members of the Planning Board sometimes don't use them. In some cases they do not turn them on. In other cases they speak so low that even with the microphones you still cannot hear them. The PB volunteers are not trained properly in using the expensive equipment, SONY with each mic costing over $90 plus the transmitting amplifier.

Will having more expensive technology available be any different? When I used to video tape the meetings, allowed under the open meetings law, some of the PB members complained worried that what they said would be recorded. Some of the board and commission members do not want their actions available to be seen by too many people. One of them may understand what they are doing.

The Zoning Board hearings have no loud speakers even though all it takes is to ask the city electric department to set them up for the meetings. Citizens who attend them cannot hear what is said at the table. The discussion is recorded on audio tape for which it is very expensive to get a transcript.

The City has about 50 computers at the seven libraries for public use, and more at the Senior Center. None of them are Apple computers. I asked the previous chief reference librarian to get one Apple computer. He explained that maintenance of Apple computers is expensive. One other librarian explained that the PC is the city standard. There are a citizens who use Apple equipment and cannot use the public equipment to access some of their data.

When the City had an agreement with Cablevision one element was to make some of the city buildings where public meetings were held wired for broadcasting on the City cable station Channel 8. But that was never done. When the city transferred the license to Comcast that provision was ignored and maybe removed. If all city meetings were broadcast it would make the city's proceedings more accessible. But that may have to wait until there is a new more open minded city manager.

Cambridge Continues Abuses of Power

The City of Cambridge recently ended a three years appeal process of a $4 million damage award. The city enjoys paying $10 million in damages due to the opinion of the City Solicitor who encouraged the City Manager to pursue the appeal. Is this an opinion on which to base public policy? Under what constitutional provision does this become a public safety issue? Why is there no concern for the abuses of elected officials and police officials who thwart constitutional protections while ignoring their oaths of office? This is abuse of power by the City Council. Nothing new here. In Cambridge laws are optional and are to be used for political purposes rewarding contributors.

[From article]
Councilor Decker said "I had this vetted by outside counsel as well as the city solicitor who read it very carefully before making the recommendations to the licensing commission,” she said. “The solicitor said it would hold up legally. Between his legal opinion and the outside opinion, I’m confident it will hold up.”

City Council Hires Experts

Recent history shows the wisdom of the City Council. They approved a $31 million library which cost $91 million to build. There was no clock in the building. The doors still do not work properly after 17 months being open. The building looks like Harvard's OIT which was torn down for the CGIS Terra Cotta brick monstrosity loved by chief architect Harry Cobb. Cambridge's new library looks like a building designed by architects for architects. For $375,000 I'll be an expert too. Can the design experts for Kendall Square do any worse than this? Did Mr. Obama teach the City Councilors that more taxpayer money is needed for more experts? Or did they come up with that pattern of spending other people's money themselves?

The Last City Council Meeting

This report is about the last Cambridge City Council meeting I attended. I stopped going when the chairman demanded that I remove a sign as described in the article. (Note: There is no smiley face. It is the word NOW inside of a circle.) The Council has rules and they ignore them. I repeatedly requested that they follow their own rules to no avail. When they began enforcing the rules against me while they ignored them I realized it was time to look for other ways to draw attention to lawless officials. This city is like Guatemala.

Cambridge Politicians Cater to Special Interests

Americans have no memory. Same sex marriage was promoted because same sex partners were unable to visit their partners when one was in the hospital. Then it was about love. Now it is about taxes just like everyone else--money rules. Homosexuals claim they want to be treated equally to others. Here is one of many instances where spineless politicians cater to the homosexual lobby which runs the state of Massachusetts. City Council in Cambridge spent taxpayer money voting and passing a resolution petitioning Congress regarding paying US taxes. Other humans would need to petition the US Congress. But homosexuals were never ordinary, not in their sexual practices not in their enjoyment of citizenship. They always demand special privileges and they get them due to weak officials with relaxed rectitude. Clearly Cambridge politicians did not get the message sent by voters in other jurisdictions. People do not want business as usual. But that is what they get in Cambridge -- more catering to special interests.
